iZombie, Season 1, Episode 9: “Patriot Brains”
Written by Robert Forman[/link]
Directed by Guy Bee
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
The end of last week’s episode brought the startling revelation that Lowell’s breakfast consisted of Jerome’s brains, and that his supplier was none other than Blaine himself, as Liv discovered both facts via flashback. This realisation also brought Liv to the closest she’s ever been to Blaine’s operation, giving her an idea of what exactly he’s been doing. This week’s episode sees her delve more deeply into the mechanics of Blaine’s actions, and come to a decision, while Lowell himself faces the scarier aspects of being a zombie, in a compelling episode.
Lowell’s arc over the course of the episode makes for a fascinating watch. It’s understandable that many zombies would only be concerned with self-survival,...

iZombie is so not dead! Better stock up on braaaaaains, because our favorite new series from Veronica Mars' creator Rob Thomas is officially coming back next season, E! News has confirmed. That's right, looks like the CW is hungry for more of the quirky zombie dramedy's witticisms and hot sauce-doused brains! iZombie stars Rose McIver as Liv, a doctor turned zombie, who is trying to figure out a way to live her newly-undead life without infecting her family and friends. It's funny, it's smart, and we seriously can't get enough of it. The show also stars One Tree Hill's Robert Buckley, David Anders, Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli and Aly Michalka. The CW already had very few shows on the bubble with upfronts looming next week and now the network has one fewer. As was fully expected, The CW has picked up "iZombie" for Season 2, joining a daunting number of shows already renewed for next year. With so much inventory, The CW is not announcing an episode order or return timetable for the DC Comics adaptation. "iZombie" joins "The 100," "Arrow," "The Flash," "Jane the Virgin," "Supernatural," "The Vampire Diaries," "The Originals," "Reign" and even "Beauty and the Beast" on The CW's extended slate for the 2015-2016 season. Since The CW only has 10 hours of weekly programming space and since the network is also expected to pick up a currently-untitled "Arrow"/"Flash" spinoff and since The CW's fall is likely to include a few things like the ending of an "America's Next Top Model" cycle and possibly "Whose Line Is It Anyway,...

Written by Kit Boss

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW

This week’s episode shows the full extent of Blaine’s growing criminal empire, and the lengths he’s going to to get brains, in an enjoyable episode that also fleshes out some of Clive Babineax’s history.

Story by Rob Thomas, Teleplay by Graham Norris and Lee Arcuri
Directed by Michael Fields
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
Last week’s episode of iZombie established what the pilot hinted at; that Liv wasn’t the only survivor from the boat party gone awry, and that whatever had affected her and turned her into a zombie had affected others too. While the discovery of Blaine came only with the prior history of his off-putting behaviour on the boat and his active role in her death, this week sees Liv and Ravi come across yet another zombie, one whom Liv has a closer connection with. This forces Liv to make some difficult choices, in a strong episode that helps develop a key secondary character.
Watching how Liv deals with Marcy provides some fascinating insight into the former’s current mindset.

The Walking Dead has become an incredibly successful TV show on cable television. Now, The CW is trying their own zombie genre series. Will it be a ratings success as well? Cancelled or renewed for a second season? Stay tuned.
Loosely based on a comic book series, iZombie revolves around an over-achieving medical resident (Rose McIver) who ends up as a zombie. She's able to keep her new condition a secret from her loved ones and, thanks to knowledge gained from dining on cadaver brains, is also able to help the police solve murders. The rest of the cast includes Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley, and David Anders.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as...

When a new series comes along that boasts being from the creators of Veronica Mars (among other things it boasts about), that will pull in audiences, but it also sets itself up for a difficult time living up to expectations.
iZombie, the new… criminal investigation meets, well, zombies… show from the CW has a lot to recommend, even just in the theory, but it has to really wow to deliver on the hopes of those who are going to bother to tune in for something called iZombie, and it does.

Without a lot of options for procuring brains, she takes a job at the city morgue. iZombie, Season 1, Episode 2, “Brother, Can You Spare a Brain?”
Written by Diane Ruggiero-Wright
Directed by John Kretchmer
Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on The CW
The final scene of last week’s series premiere of iZombie showed that Liv wasn’t the only person who was turned into a zombie on the night of the boat party. It also showed Liv with a renewed dedication to living her life, even if she was part of the undead at this point. This week’s episode delves deeper into both aspects, as Liv taking on the traits of a passionate painter leaves her questioning the mark she’s made on the world, while her search for fellow zombie Blaine brings him to her morgue. The result is another enjoyable episode that shows a different way to handle being a zombie, while establishing that Liv’s path won’t be easy.

Zombies, like most other fictional monsters in popular culture, are often best when used as metaphors for recognisable human things. It’s why teen shows have been so quick to adopt a fantasy angle ever since Buffy The Vampire Slayer introduced the ‘high school is hell’ theme back in the late 90s.
Now, though, the trendy thing is to have your protagonist be the monster, and iZombie – Rob Thomas’ latest – sees the zombie sub-genre finally reach that crucial point in its cycle.
Our set-up is this – promising, over-achieving doctor Liv (Rose McIver) goes to a boat party that happens to be hit by a sudden zombie outbreak. She wakes up in a body-bag, realises she’s (un)dead, and we then pick...

Being a member of the walking dead can take the life right outta you, as iZombie protagonist Liv learns in the premiere of the CW’s new series.
Aside from the whole barely-alive-albino-skin-wanna-eat-brains-24/7 thing, Liv (played by Once Upon a Time‘s Rose McIver) finds out that one of the biggest bummers of zombification is that you just don’t care about much anymore. Not about your burgeoning career as a heart surgeon. Not about your super hot, super understanding ex-fiancé, Major (Robert Buckley, One Tree Hill). Not about your friend and roomie, Peyton (Aly Michalka, Hellcats).

With a human flush, “iZombie” star Rose McIver, who plays young hospital resident Liv Moore, passes for any endearing sitcom actress — attractive and peppy with an easy smile. When McIver’s eyes first pop open as Liv Moore, sullen zombie crime fighter, they really pop against that pale skin. She’s a decomposing Disney princess, a living-dead Tinkerbell (the role she played on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” — minus the brain cravings). Add to the native New Zealander’s charm a solid supporting cast and the likeable characters they play — including Rahul Kohli as police morgue supervisor Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti,...

"Kicking ass and taking brains," is the tagline for the brand new poster for The CW's freshman series "iZombie."
The zombie-fied key art features series star Rose McIver as Liv, a promising young doctor whose life is forever altered after a social gathering ends with her becoming a zombie.
After Liv's change, she becomes disengaged, breaking things off with her fiance, Major (Robert Buckley), and taking a new job – in a morgue, working alongside Dr. Ravi (Rahul Kohli). Her new gig provides Liv prime access to her new food of choice – human brains, which also happen ...

Hardcore zombie fans probably won’t be impressed by the CW’s walking dead, since “iZombie” star Rose McIver looks or acts nothing like a corpse in the first trailer for the new series.
In fact, she mostly looks like a pretty teenager going through a goth phase, thanks to white face make-up and extra mascara around the eyes.

It appears The CW is taking cues from television’s seemingly insatiable desire for zombie action by pushing ahead with a new dramedy entitled iZombie.
Starring Rose McIver in the title role, the series will orbit around her character of Olivia “Liv” Moore, a former medical student who succumbs to a virus that transforms her into a rather insightful flesh-eater. But The Walking Dead this is not, as The CW’s rendition of zombies is much more passive given that the overarching story seems to revolve around Liv’s efforts to blend into society without her family and friends ever discovering her darkest secret.
Malcolm Goodwin, Rahul Kohli, Robert Buckley and David Anders will also star in the show and while the core concept isn’t exactly revolutionary, the first look trailer does a good job of showcasing iZombie‘s innate potential.

Rob Thomas is a writer, so he's obviously concerned with story and character and other matters creative. But he's also a veteran writer/producer — and, as creator of "Veronica Mars," a man who had to do a lot of selling over the last couple of years — so he also is well aware of when art has to bend for commerce. So when Thomas — who, with fellow "Veronica Mars" vet Diane Ruggiero-Wright, has adapted the Vertigo comic "iZombie" for the CW — was asked why Rose McIver's character, Liv, doesn't bother with spray tanning, hair dye, or other attempts to disguise her condition as an intelligent zombie, he was very blunt. "In some ways, it's the least logical decision she could make," he admitted, since many of the show's other zombies (notably David Anders as a drug-dealing zombie named Blaine) do make an effort to look more normal. "The truth...
