Steve Ascher is Executive Vice President, Production and Development, for Six West Media, A+E Networks award-winning production entity focused on creating premium unscripted content. In this role, he creates unscripted series, specials and documentaries for A+E Networks' portfolio, including A&E, The HISTORY Channel and Lifetime. He leads a team that also develops series for external clients and the international marketplace. Named to the role in October 2020, he previously served as the group's Senior Vice President.
A veteran producer and journalist, Ascher's recent credits include the Emmy-nominated Black Patriots: Heroes of the Revolution with Kareem Adbul-Jabbar, and the critically acclaimed Unidentified, both for The HISTORY Channel. His team has also produced titles including RFK: The Kennedy Family Remembers in partnership with Robert F. Kennedy's children; Gretchen Carlson: Breaking the Silence; The Secret Life of a Gang Girl; Sell This House; and Biography: Farrah Fawcett Forever. He also serves as Executive Producer, alongside Monica Lewinsky, on the documentary 15 Minutes of Shame.
Ascher joined The HISTORY Channel in 2013 as an Executive Producer with oversight for series and specials, including Forged in Fire, Pawn Stars, Ax Men and Alcatraz: Search for the Truth. Prior to joining A+E Networks, he worked at NBC News where he traveled the world telling stories in places like Beijing, Dubai and Panama.
Ascher lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
