On Saturday night, the New York Times reported a third incident of unwanted sexual conduct by now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. The event allegedly took place while Kavanaugh was a college student at Yale and was witnessed by classmate Max Steir, who “saw Mr. Kavanaugh with his pants down at a different drunken dorm party, where friends pushed his penis into the hand of a female student,” according to the Times.

President Donald Trump headed once again this morning for the links at Trump National Golf Course. But before teeing up, he offered some advice for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh – consider suing for libel.
The President defended Kavanaugh after the New York Times article today that revisited the accusations of Deborah Ramirez, who attended Yale with Kavanaugh and claimed he assaulted her at a party.
The Times sent out a series of tweets Saturday touting the story. It then retracted its initial tweet, claiming it was phrased awkwardly. The retraction then vanished, until finally, the paper of record tweeted, “We deleted a previous tweet regarding this article,” the final tweet read. “It was offensive, and we apologize.”
The President was watching and took up for Kavanaugh.
We’ll monitor the situation and update later in the day. The Tweetstorm so far:

On Monday's episode of NBC's Today show, Padma Lakshmi opened up about her decision to come forward about her sexual assault.
Lakshmi penned an essay for The New York Times in September about her brutal rape at the age of 16. She revealed that her boyfriend, who was 23, raped her on New Year's Eve while she was asleep.
She explained that she came forward following Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez's allegations against then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, as well as Trump's criticism that the victims did not file police reports following the alleged assaults. Despite the ...

The confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has capped the most brutal partisan judicial campaign in American history. For 40 years, movement conservatives plotted tirelessly and spent untold millions to install a solid hard-right majority on the court. Checked by the four appointments made by Bill Clinton and Barack Obama — and nearly undone by the sudden death of Justice Antonin Scalia — the Republicans would stop at nothing, including blocking the nomination of the moderate Merrick Garland by thwarting a constitutional process. On Saturday, they finally won by ramming through...

Washington — The Senate confirmed Judge Brett Kavanaugh on Saturday by a vote of 50 to 48, bringing to a close one of the ugliest and most polarizing Supreme Court nomination battles in modern American history, one that might galvanize women and Democratic voters in November.

Bette Midler says she tweeted a racially insensitive message without thinking because she was angry after the FBI only “briefly” investigated the sexual assault accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
On Friday, the 72-year-old icon addressed criticism for tweeting, in part, “Women, are the n-word of the world'” — which she says is a Yoko Ono quote from 1972. Lady Gaga delivered a powerful statement about the debate surrounding Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and said that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her, is protecting this country.
“What I have seen on the news with this debate of Kavanaugh versus Dr. Ford, it’s one of the most upsetting things I’ve ever witnessed,” the “A Star Is Born” actress told Stephen Colbert on Thursday.
“I am a sexual assault survivor,” she continued. “Trump the other day was speaking at a rally, and he said, ‘She has no memory of how she got to the party. Should we trust that she remembers the assault?’ And the answer is ‘yes’ … And I also know this woman is smart because she’s a psychologist – she’s no dummy. If someone is assaulted or experiences trauma, there’s science and scientific proof – it’s biology – that people change.

United States senators are taking turns reading the FBI’s updated background investigation into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. But the report is unaccountably incomplete. The FBI interviewed only one of Kavanaugh’s three accusers. And investigators failed to interview key witnesses who could have helped corroborate allegations of sexual misconduct by Kavanaugh, or exposed lies he appears to have told the Senate while under oath. Most striking, the FBI did not interview Kavanaugh, himself.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins told reporters she now has the cover she needs to vote in favor of seating Brett Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court, saying the nominee’s controversial FBI speed-probe “appears very thorough.”
“Me too” Gop Sen. Jeff Flake told reporters in so many words, signaling it’s game-over time and Kavanaugh will get his lifetime appointment.
Collins, Flake, and Gop Sen. Washington — Not 24 hours after Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee to discuss graphic allegations of sexual assault, a hearing that was every bit as gripping and infuriating and historic as Anita Hill’s testimony 27 years earlier, senators returned to Capitol Hill to determine the fate of President Trump’s newest Supreme Court nominee. Brett Kavanaugh’s testimony ended dramatically Thursday, with the Supreme Court nominee taking an oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee and God that the accusations against him are untrue: “I swear to God,” he said.
The judge, who has said he attended church every Sunday in high school, when he is accused of sexually assaulting Christine Blasey Ford, took Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy up on his invitation to look him in the eye and swear to the lord.
It was oddly fitting that a hearing focused so much on Kavanaugh’s conduct in high school in 1982 should end with such an ’80s-teen-movie declaration: I swear to God.

When Brett Kavanaugh presented himself as a friendly high school virgin, he painted a picture of pristine innocence his critics quickly tried to deface.
The image he presented in a Fox News interview was starkly at odds with one shared by three women who have accused him of sexual misconduct. No one is perfect, as Kavanaugh has noted — but his presentation of himself as a teen who went to church every Sunday and cared mostly about friendships has created a big target for anyone trying to tarnish him.
“The problem with the Fox interview is that Judge Kavanaugh went all in on a squeaky clean image and when you try to paint a picture of yourself in such glowing terms, it invites scrutiny and emboldens people to come forward to challenge the picture you’ve attempted to paint of yourself,” Evan Nierman, founder of crisis PR firm Red Banyan, told TheWrap.

But, with new developments in the story seemingly every day, do Republicans have the votes necessary to confirm President Trump’s latest pick to sit on the Supreme Court?...

President Donald Trump this morning insisted Republicans “could not be nicer” in their handling sexual assault and misconduct accusations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
“They could have pushed it through two and a half weeks ago, and you wouldn’t be talking about it right now, which is, frankly, what I would have preferred,” Trump told reporters as he arrived at the United Nations to meet Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“The Republicans could not be nicer, could not be more respectful to the process – certainly could not be more respectful to the woman and I’m okay with that,” Trump said, appearing to reference Christine Blasey Ford.
Ford has claimed Kavanaugh locked her in a room at a Georgetown Prep party, pinned her on a bed and attempted to remove her clothing, covering her mouth so she could not scream.

Fox News host Tucker Carlson let his viewers know what he thought of the women who have come forward to accuse Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, suggesting on set that Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court nomination had turned into a witch hunt.
On Tuesday evening, Carlson mocked Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez by comparing their accusations to those from Arthur Miller’s “The Crucible” — and played footage from the 1996 film on air.
“Tonight there are more allegations, consistent in many ways with the allegations we have already heard,” he said.
“Leading Democrats are calling these claims powerful, compelling and highly credible,” Carlson continued, setting up the moment. “They are all but daring Republicans to question the new accusers. The victims, they say, must be believed.”

“America is respected again!”
President Trump has made this claim countless times since he was inaugurated. It may be the most laughable bit of bullshit he’s served up to his supporters. Over the course of his 20 months in office, Trump has done all he can to degrade America’s bedrock international alliances, forcing world leaders to grapple with his childlike petulance in the process. On Tuesday, those leaders offered a gentle but devastating rebuke to the president’s exaggerated view of himself as he spoke at the United Nations in New York City.

President Donald Trump followed up his address to the United Nation’s General Assembly by blasting the women who have accused his Supreme Court nominee of sexual assault/misconduct.
The accusations are part of a “Democratic con game,” Trump scoffed during a photo op at the Un where he was seated with Colombian President Ivan Duque.
Christine Blasey Ford’s claim that, years ago, Georgetown Prep student Kavanaugh pinned her on a bed, tried to take off her clothes, and put his hand over her mouth when she tried to scream, is “totally unsubstantiated,” Trump scoffed.
“I mean charges come up from 36 years ago that are totally unsubstantiated,” Trump told reporters at the Un. “You, watching this as the president of a great country, Colombia, you must say, ‘How is this possible – 36 years ago?” Trump said, addressing Duque.

America has now reached the point in the story where a Supreme Court nominee goes on national TV to very solemnly explain when he lost his virginity. “We’re talking about allegations of sexual assault,” Brett Kavanaugh told Fox News’ Martha MacCallum on Monday. I did not have sexual intercourse or anything close to sexual intercourse in high school or for many years thereafter.” Just as it was disturbing when Kavanaugh equated contraceptives to “abortion-inducing drugs” during his confirmation hearing earlier this month, it...

Laura Ingraham again denounced the latest allegation against Brett Kavanaugh, suggesting to viewers of her Fox News program Monday night that the allegations from second accuser Deborah Ramirez was just ordinary college behavior.
“I just want to understand this new standard,” said Ingraham. “We were all in college, we were all in high school”
“Is this where we’re going guys,” she continued. “At what point do those allegations — uncorroborated by any contemporaneous witness — when does that get to smear someone who’s had an unbelievably exemplary life as an adult in the workforce promoting women, advancing the cause of women. When does this stop? Because I find this to be madness, utter madness.”

Stephen Colbert dissected the latest allegations of sexual harassment against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh on The Late Show Monday.
Colbert recounted the New Yorker‘s recent scoop, in which Deborah Ramirez accused Kavanaugh of drunkenly dangling his penis in front of her face during a college party. While Ramirez acknowledged that there were gaps in her memory because she had been drinking too, Colbert pointed out that the New Yorker learned of the story because Ramirez’s classmates started e-mailing about the incident when Kavanaugh was nominated in July.

Jim Carrey isn’t mincing words when it comes to Brett Kavanaugh. The actor ripped into the Supreme Court Justice nominee with the release of his latest painting, which includes a caption that refers to Kavanaugh as an “entitled little shit.” Two women have come forward accusing Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct. Deborah Ramirez told The New Yorker Kavanaugh exposed himself to her while in college at Yale, which Carrey used as the basis to criticize universities at large.
“Colleges care more about donors than the victims of on-campus rape,” Carrey wrote in the caption. “That’s why women don’t report it and why Entitled Little Shits like Injustice Kavanaugh get to party and pillage their way to the Supreme Court.I’d like to suggest a new uniform for the highest court in the land.”

Brett Kavanaugh wants you to know who the real victim is.
In a letter sent today to the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Supreme Court nominee describes allegations against him of a sexual assault in high school and of exposing himself in college as “smears, pure and simple.” He paints himself as the target of a “grotesque and obvious character assassination” and insists: “I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process.”
The letter, addressed to Judiciary chair Charles Grassley (R-ia) and ranking member Dianne Feinstein (D-ca), directly answers both of Kavanaugh’s accusers.
