Pedro René Bastidas is a versatile Composer for film, media, and live performance, adept in a diverse range of musical genres. His portfolio includes music production for numerous high-profile adverts and television upfronts, along with TV shows featured on leading broadcasters such as BBC and NBC. With honors in Audio Engineering and a strong classical academic background in Music Composition, Pedro's career in visual media began as a Music Editor at Venevisión, a major television company. His tenure as a Recording Engineer for symphonic orchestras at 'El Sistema' cultivated his expertise in modern recording techniques, enabling him to produce high-quality orchestrated music, even utilizing sample instruments in mock-ups.
Pedro further honed his skills in Orchestration for Film under the mentorship of renowned Hollywood Orchestrators Scott Smalley (Batman, Mission: Impossible, Starship Troopers) and Robert Drasnin (The Twilight Zone, Cinemania, Lost in Space). In 2014, he was selected as one of the 20 composers to participate in the prestigious NYU/ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop in New York. His work on the film 'The Decisive Moment' earned him a nomination at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards 2014 in the category of 'Best Original Score Indie Film/Short'.
