3.13 Attack On Gorilla City
Hey! I’m Jim, your very special guest. I’m your regularly scheduled Legends Of Tomorrow host, filling in for Mike on one of the most highly anticipated episodes of The Flash ever: the Flash team visits Earth 2’s Gorilla City and confronts Grodd, the evil telepathic gorilla from season 1. Just typing that sentence was a blast, so you’d think the episode would be amazing.
It...was fine.
It was slightly better than fine, to be honest. But it coasted by on a delightful first act and some joyful acting by the cast,...

Teamwork gets the job done.
So why does Team Flash seem to need a not-so-gentle reminder of that at least once or twice a season?
On The Flash Season 3 Episode 12 "Untouchable," that reminder came in the form of Iris' near death at the hand of one of Alchemy's metas.
Welcome back, Flashpoint.
Okay, technically, Flashpoint was not back. More like there are still looming consequences from Barry's timeline manipulation.
And since these consequences do not include a dejected Cisco, I'm actually happy that we're still feeling the effects.
As great at this show is, it does have a tendency to drop storylines for too long. Then, when it picks up the thread again, either the audience forgot the original premise, or we're too involved in the present to care.
But taking a break from worrying about the future to deal with the past felt seamless.
Joe: This is not something you keep from your father,...

New York -- Robert Vaughn, the debonair, Oscar-nominated actor whose many film roles were eclipsed by his hugely popular turn in television’s The Man From U.N.C.L.E., has died. He was 83.
Vaughn died Friday morning after a brief battle with acute leukemia, according to his manager, Matthew Sullivan.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was an immediate hit, particularly with young people, when it debuted on NBC 1964. It was part of an avalanche of secret agent shows (I Spy, Mission: Impossible, Secret Agent), spoofs (Get Smart), books (The Spy Who Came in From the Cold) and even songs (Secret Agent Man) inspired by the James Bond films.
Vaughn’s urbane superspy Napoleon Solo teamed with Scottish actor David McCallum’s Illya Kuryakin, a soft-spoken, Russian-born agent.

It's hard not to like Kevin Smith. The man is a total geek who's living his life to the fullest, producing stuff he loves and believes in, critics be damned. He wears his enthusiasm on his sleeve, especially when it comes the CW DC shows, which he's raved about countless times by this point.
Last TV season, Smith managed to lock down a gig directing an episode of The Flash entitled "The Runaway Dinosaur." It was more character-driven than your average Flash episode, and a perfect fit for the director. Smith has already expressed how great his upcoming episode is for Season 3, and has even shared that it'll contain a lot more action than his previous episode -- which will do wonders to help stretch his directing abilities.
Smith has now gone one step further and shared a photo of the script on Twitter.

Exciting, emotional, epic and intimate all at once, this week's episode of The Flash makes for brilliant telly...
This review contains spoilers.
2.11 The Reverse-Flash Returns
Barry isn't perfect, and that's one of the most charming things about The Flash. He's a hero, a good friend and generally pretty noble, but he's also immature on occasion, unable to let grievances go and reluctant to put people in danger. It's tempting, then, to call the show's tendency for keeping its female characters in the dark a quirk of Barry's, as this episode hammers home, but that's not the only thing perpetuating the trope.
Patty was designed from the start to fulfil the purpose she does here. She was always going to be the temporary girlfriend who forced Barry to question whether he can ever have a normal relationship.
But she was written too well, performed too winningly by Shantel VanSanten – we liked Patty,...

Barry Allen suffers from superhero-related romantic angst in the latest episode of The Flash, Potential Energy...
This review contains spoilers.
2.10 Potential Energy
The first season of The Flash was great, we can all probably agree, but there was one part that was almost universally detested. That part was Iris or, more specifically, the constant frustration of having Iris in the dark about everything else going on in the show.
In this episode, then, the show had a chance to rectify that mistake and have Barry tell Patty the truth. He's worried about her getting hurt, which makes a certain kind of sense, but she's also proven herself to be more than capable of taking care of herself. The fact that Potential Energy decides not to do this, but instead have her be kidnapped and prove Barry's neuroses correct, is hugely disappointing. That it also leads to Patty...

The Flash's latest crossover episode, Legends Of Today, is a delight from start to finish...
This review contains spoilers.
2.8 Legends Of Today
Crossover episodes, while no longer a rarity in this universe, are still incredibly difficult to pull off. For The Flash, it's hard not to take into account the fact that it's currently the more successful of the two shows, and the more popular among casual television fans, and also that Legends Of Today is not just an episode designed to boost viewers for both shows and give their fans a little holiday-time treat, but also intended to partly launch a spin-off.
That said, Legends Of Today is an absolute delight from start to finish, fitting in more (good) fan-service moments, gags, character-building and plot than could be expected from a movie, let alone a 42-minute episode of a show already under pressure to re-introduce...

The Flash is succeeding in staying fresh and interesting into season two, thanks to decent character work and a giant, telepathic gorilla...
This review contains spoilers.
2.7 Gorilla Warfare
At this point in our collective Flash-watching adventure, we're all kind of over the fact that there's a giant, telepathic, talking Gorilla in Central City. The ridiculous factor has passed, and we can just enjoy Grodd the same way we enjoy any other meta-human threat. But when you add Grodd to an episode where Henry Allen is also hanging around passing out platitudes, the cheese factor edges very close to the line.
Which, when looking at the big picture, was probably a good thing. Though we're quickly informed that Barry's injuries from his run-in with Zoom aren't actually going to keep him out of commission for too long, he's still confined to the lab for much of the episode,...

Thanks to The Flash multiverse, Barry gets a new, inappropriate father figure in episode five of The Flash season 2...
This review contains spoilers.
2.5 The Darkness And The Light
When The Flash introduced the multiverse, it was either going to complicate things beyond recognition (a suspicion I still have in light of the many speedsters still to be introduced) or it was going to build on the madcap fun the show's first season had already nailed. This episode, in which we get reacquainted with the man formerly known as Earth One's Harrison Wells, proved that it's going to be the latter.
So Wells is back, but this time it's not Eobard Thawne or nice-guy scientist Harrison Wells, but 'Harry' – Earth Two's leading metahuman tech entrepreneur, father and arch-nemesis to Jay Garrick. He might not be entirely homicidal like his evil doppelhanger, but that doesn't mean he's a nice guy,...

The Flash seems to be spending a lot of time prepping spin-off Legends Of Tomorrow and coasting on last year's good will in season two...
This review contains spoilers.
2.4 The Fury Of The Firestorm
Ronnie’s apparently dead and, along with a new love interest for Caitlin, we knew we were due a replacement Firestorm buddy for Stein. Enter Jax Jackson, who I’m told is a character invented solely for the TV show, and who made a pretty great impression during this week’s episode.
It’s not that Ronnie wasn’t okay as season one’s Firestorm, it’s just that he never really meshed well with the group dynamic. Jax, however, is a younger and just generally more interesting presence in Star Labs. On paper, he’s set completely apart from Barry and the rest of the team and, more importantly, he’s the polar opposite of Stein.

Get a closer look at Caitlin Snow's Killer Frost right here, and some teasing details about Grodd's return to The Flash...
At the end of season 1 of The Flash, we caught a glimpse of Danielle Panabaker's Caitlin Snow embracing her evil-doing destiny (from the comic books) as Killer Frost. It was only a brief tease - while Barry travelled through time - but it was enough to send the comics-attuned corner of the fanbase into a mild internet frenzy.
Months later, we now have a better look at this villainous vision. As you can see in the picture above, Panabaker's character got a complete makeover for the seconds-long Easter egg. Speaking to The Talk, she revealed that The CW's costume team "started working on the look a couple months before it actually shot."
"Our first suit was a one piece, kind of like Catwoman's," she continued.

Two different versions of its hero. The multiverse. The power to throw lightning bolts. The Flash certainly doesn’t like to take things slow, and it followed hot on the heels of last week’s Season 2 premiere, The Man Who Saved Central City, wasting little time in further expanding the world of the show and introducing the new characters.
We got two in this episode, Jay Garrick (briefly glimpsed last week) and Patty Spivot, both taken from the comics and here to help out Barry Allen and the Star Labs team. It was another strong episode, which gave us a few answers that we needed from the previous one.
It confirmed that it was indeed Zoom who Jay was coming to warn Barry about, returned Caitlin very much to the lab, showed us a bit more of Cisco’s abilities, and right at the very end told us...

Happy Flash Day everybody! The Flash is back for its second season, and just like the titular hero it certainly hit the ground running in the opening episode, The Man Who Saved Central City.
Although picking up a few months after the season 1 finale, it started out as though nothing had changed. Barry was taking down Captain Cold and Heat Wave, with a little assistance from Firestorm, and the whole gang was there to celebrate, including Harrison Wells.
That was the signal all wasn’t right, and quickly turned into a Barry who was trying to save the world on his own. It then did what most opening episodes do, and set about quickly catching-up with all the main characters, re-establishing the status quo, and teasing what’s to come in the remainder of the season.

The Flash returns to high expectations. Can its second season maintain the fun, action and drama of the first?
This review contains spoilers.
2.1 The Man Who Saved Central City
This year, The Flash is in the unenviable position of trying to capitalise on a first season that not only rose to the top of an increasingly dense pile of superhero television, but also surpassed its parent show over the course of 23 episodes. It was one of the undisputable winners of the 2014-15 season, and expectations are incredibly high.
Can it maintain the quality or, better still, build on it to become something not just fun, diverting and occasionally emotional but also something more? There’s always been potential for that, for it to be as much fun for a wide audience as it is for the hard-core comic book and television fans.
We start where we left off, with the fun,...

The Flash, Season 2, Episode 1, “The Man Who Saved Central City”
Directed by Ralph Hemecker
Teleplay by Andrew Kreisberg & Gabrielle Stanton
Airs on Tuesdays at 8 pm (Et) on CW
It’s been six months since we last we saw The Flash save Central City when racing up a building in a desperate attempt to prevent his hometown from being destroyed by a temporal vortex. The first episode of Season 2 — “The Man Who Saved Central City” — doesn’t concern itself with the immediate aftermath of this event. Instead, the show jumps forward six months and opens with the Scarlet Speedster and Firestorm squaring off with Captain Cold and Heat Wave. As it turns out, it is only a dream and for Barry, saving Central City came at a heavy cost. Still feeling responsible for Eddie’s death, Barry pushes his friends away and is now determined to protect the city all on his own.

Still feeling responsible for Eddie’s death, Barry pushes his friends away and is now determined to protect the city all on his own.

A whole new world -- and a brand new Flash -- are coming in "The Flash" Season 2.
The first season ended on quite a cliffhanger, with our hero Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) taking a super-speed leap into a wormhole to stop it from destroying Central City. What happened after that? Fans will find out when the action resumes Tuesday, October 6 at 8 p.m. Et on The CW. Here are five things you need to know about the new season.
1. There's a Time Jump Into the Premiere
The first episode of Season 2, "The Man Who Saved Central City," picks up "months" after the Singularity attacked. We'll see Barry still struggling to forgive himself for Eddie's death (side note: Is Eddie really gone?) and concerned about putting his friends in danger. So he's pushing everyone away and is choosing to just protect the city on his own.

Question: Can you give some Grey’s Anatomy spoilers, specifically Arizona and Callie? —Barbara
Ausiello: Shonda Rhimes gave me some additional intel on the “exciting romances” Callie and Arizona will be embarking on in Season 12. For starters, their new squeezes will not be characters we’ve met before. Additionally, “They’re going to both be dating women,” Rhimes confirms, adding, “I do want to honor the fact that Callie is bisexual, and we’ve established that she’s dated guys.

If Arrow wasn’t enough, we’ve got double the dose of TV superheroes with The Flash!
The stars and producers of The CW’s runaway freshman hit graced the Dolby Theatre stage on Saturday evening to dish on what’s to come for the rest of the season and even offer hints for its sophomore run.
Leading man Grant Gustin was joined by fellow castmates including Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin and Candice Patton, along with executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti on the penultimate night of PaleyFest.
Berlanti didn't shoot down the possibility of introducing other speedsters, such as Wally West and Bart Allen, to Central City -- but it wouldn't happen this season. "That's our hope," he said. "We've already been picked up for a second year. If we were going to do something like that, we'd do it next year."

The Flash delivers a light-hearted episode that proves how far removed it is from the world of Arrow...
This review contains spoilers.
1.10 Revenge Of The Rogues
Not many shows spring to life fully-formed, with the right amount of humour and action and romance and drama all worked out perfectly, the characters feeling like real people and the relationships as if they’ve always been there.
The first half of The Flash’s first season wasn’t exactly perfect by those standards, but it was pretty darn close, and an episode like Revenge Of The Rogues just proves that it’ll probably just keep getting better from here.
The episode played up two of the show’s most identifiable elements – the comic book-esque action sequences and the big emphasis on Barry’s love life – and it helps that those are pretty much the two things that audiences latched onto last year.

Plot:
The Man in the Yellow Suit finally reveals himself to Barry, with the younger Speedster unable to defeat him. Meanwhile Ronnie shows himself to Caitlin, who desperately tries to find a way to help him.
Verdict:
So the Reverse-Flash finally reveals himself to the City and our hero in this festive episode of the fledgling series, thoroughly beating the young Speedster not once but twice. He is certainly handled very well and his identity is still up in the air (despite the big reveal at the episode’s climax, which could be a red-herring, but I will get into that later). But this episode had more in it’s runtime than just the battle of the Speedsters, and it was a good mid-season finale.
So first of all we get all the Christmas related stuff out of the way,...

25 Best Horror Films of 2014
We here at Sound On Sight believe horror transcends explicit gore, jump scares or supernatural content, which is why you’ll soon notice our list ranges from independent art films to psychological thrillers to parodies, satire and more. Surprisingly, vampires lead the pack this year, along with found footage flicks, but there are a few comedies, one remake and even some strange love stories as well… read the full article.
The Best Documentaries of 2014
As is usually the case, 2014 held a rich vein of great nonfiction cinema … that went mostly untapped by any wide audiences. But just because documentaries are perpetually under-served by popular (and even critical) attention doesn’t mean that we should neglect these films. This is a celebration of all the best docs to come out this year… read the full article.

The Flash proves it can be really, truly great in its mid-season finale. Here's Caroline's review of The Man In The Yellow Suit...
This review contains spoilers.
1.9 The Man In The Yellow Suit
The first episode of The Flash was, in my opinion, a perfect hour of television. It was instantly everything so many people wanted the show to be, and its subsequent success has shown that the way in which it chose to approach its particular corner of DC’s television universe was exactly what the 2014-15 telly slate needed.
Now, as we reach its first proper hiatus, and it has delivered its first big mid-season finale (if you can even get bigger than last week’s crossover), it’s lovely to note that first instincts were right, and this show is really, truly great.
It’s had its problems – Iris chief among them – but overall it’s just...

It was an epic night of television for comic book fans Tuesday evening, as both the Flash and Marvel’s Agents of Shield ran their mid-season finales, and neither one disappointed. Each show had a big reveal (or two) for viewers. Cinelinx looks at the two episodes and dissects what we learned. (Spoilers involved!)
Two eagerly-awaited mid-season finales aired this week and the production teams/networks pulled out all the stops to give us a pair of excellent episodes, which answered some pivotal questions and raised a few more.
(Spoilers)
Let’s begin with the Flash. In “The Man in the Yellow Suit,” the Flash finally came face-to-vibrating face with his unseen nemesis, the man who killed his mother and caused his father to be imprisoned for 10 years. Although he hasn’t been officially called “the Reverse Flash” yet, we’ll use that moniker for the sake of this article.

With its first winter finale, The CW’s The Flash “went there” on multiple occasions, including a final wrinkle that certainly zagged when I thought they would zig.
Almost right off the bat, the episode introduced us (as well as a few unlucky guards) to “The Man in the Yellow Suit,” whom from here on we’ll simply dub Reverse-Flash. When Barry and Joe hear of the eyewitness’ account, they realize they’re dealing with the same man who killed Nora, as well as gave Joe a spook a few weeks back.
Barry gets an up-close look at Reverse-Flash himself...

Like Arrow, The Flash is coming off a pretty epic two-part, two-night crossover event, which saw the worlds of Starling City and Central City collide. Next Tuesday, though, it’s back to just being Barry, Caitlin, Cisco, and the rest of the gang on their own in The Flash‘s midseason finale, but by the looks of these photos from the episode, along with its trailer, I’m pretty sure the show will be just fine. In Tuesday’s winter finale, The Flash is pulling out all the stops and having Barry finally come face-to-face with the person who killed his mom: The Man in the Yellow Suit (Aka Reverse Flash), who the episode is named after. As the trailer shows, this should be an especially emotionally-charged hour of television that not only introduces us to our “big bad” for Season 1 but also gives us more insight into Barry’s relationship with his mother…...
