Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has released a statement clarifying that he can’t actually clarify his stance on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. He hasn’t examined the evidence, many people are telling him many things, both sides have made arguments, and someone should really look into it.
After days of doing damage control over a fundraising email in which his campaign referred to the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 as “J6 activists,” Kennedy released a lengthy statement “to clarify his views” on the attack, but...

DarkGame, the latest thriller about dark doings on the Dark Web, opens with the masked figure known as The Presenter overseeing the murder of a bound woman in a manner chosen by the highest bidder. By the way, he chooses a chainsaw as the instrument of her demise. That’s followed by Detectives Ben Jacobs and Cathy Burnette rescuing two missing children from traffickers.
Ben has barely gotten home to his pregnant wife however when they’re called back into the station. The woman we saw killed in the opening scene had vanished without a trace a couple of weeks earlier. The footage is the only clue they have as to who is responsible, but the people behind it know how to cover their tracks.

Donald Trump frequently enrages musicians by using their songs without permission during his political rallies. Most recently, he has upset Johnny Marr after footage of the former president playing the Smiths’ 1982 single “Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want” at a Trump rally in South Dakota last year emerged online.
Yesterday, an X user posted a clip of the song being played to the crowd at a rally in September, noting, “You actually hear the Smiths more often than you’d think at 2024 Trump rallies.” Marr quickly responded,...

The Smiths’ Johnny Marr has taken to Twitter to express his disappointment over the usage of his former band’s songs at Donald Trump’s campaign rallies.
It started on Monday night when journalist Ben Jacobs tweeted that The Smiths’ “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” was being played as the pre-rally music for a Trump speech in Laconia, New Hampshire. Then, journalist Soo Rin Kim replied with a video clip of the song being played at a rally in Rapid City, South Dakota last year — an odd sight that would be even more juxtaposing if it weren’t for the fact that Trump definitely likes to get what he wants.
Now, replying to Kim’s video, Marr has made it clear that he isn’t having any of it. “Ahh…right…Ok,” he wrote. “I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass.

Director James Gunn has been named PETA’s 2023 Person of the Year. Per the animal rights organization, Gunn has been selected “for using impressive and stunningly well-crafted CGI animals to inspire tens of millions of moviegoers—who flocked to theaters to see ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’—to have compassion for the millions of animals killed by experimenters in laboratories.”
The third installment of “Guardians of the Galaxy” explains Rocket Raccoon’s origin story as a test subject in a lab, alongside other animals.
“By telling the story of the millions of vulnerable animals abused in experiments, James Gunn has shown himself to be a true animal guardian,” says PETA president Ingrid Newkirk. “PETA is delighted to honor him for encouraging exactly what the world needs: empathy for all living beings.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ much-hyped campaign launch was a shitshow, largely due to technical issues from Elon Musk’s Twitter Spaces. Donald Trump seemed to relish his opponent’s disastrous 2024 rollout, taking to Truth Social to mock the Florida governor while posting a pair of new attack ads. “Wow! The DeSanctus Twitter launch is a Disaster!,” the former president wrote. “His whole campaign will be a disaster. Watch!”
Trump also trolled DeSantis by congratulating Tim Scott for having “by far the best Presidential launch of the week,” while calling DeSantis’ a “catastrophe,...

Update (9/3): Kanye West will not appear on the ballot as a presidential candidate in Virginia, NBC 12 in Richmond reports. President Donald Trump declined Friday to back off his statements made at a Montana rally on Thursday that praised a past assault on a journalist by a Us Congressman.
Trump appeared in Arizona today and was asked if he regretted jokingly lauding Rep. Greg Gianforte at a Thursday Make America Great Again rally in Missolua, Montana. Gianforte body-slammed Guardian journalist Ben Jacobs in 2017, a day before the elections, after taking umbrage at a question posed by the reporter.
“That was a different world. That was a different league, a different world,” Trump said, when asked about his remarks on the incident. He again called Gianforte “a great guy. Greg is a tremendous person and he’s a tough cookie. And I’ll stay with that.”
Trump’s timing on the Gianforte praise was strange, given that he has earlier expressed regret at the death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi,...

The White House Correspondents’ Association has issued a statement blasting President Donald Trump’s praise of a violent assault on a reporter by Montana’s Gop Rep. Greg Gianforte in 2016.
“All Americans should recoil from the president’s praise for a violent assault on a reporter doing his Constitutionally protected job,” the association said.
Yeah, that didn’t happen at the Montana rally where Trump mentioned the assault Thursday night; the crowd roared in approval.
“This amounts to the celebration of a crime by someone sworn to uphold our laws and an attack on the First Amendment by someone who has solemnly pledged to defend it,” Whca association said, adding, “We should never shrug at the president cheerleading for a violent act targeting a free and independent news media.”
Earlier today, the Guardian also condemned Trump’s praise of Gianforte, whose reporter Ben Jacobs was on the receiving end of the congressman’s assault.

In May 2017, one day before a special election to represent Montana in the House of Representatives, Republican candidate Greg Gianforte physically attacked Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs. Provoked only by a question about health care, Gianforte body-slammed Jacobs, breaking his glasses. The candidate and his campaign then lied to police about what transpired, and, the next day, Gianforte won the election. He later pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and was sentenced to perform community service, attend anger management classes and pay a fine. He was also slapped with a 180-day deferred sentence.

Donald Trump praised the Montana congressman who attacked a reporter in 2017 as “my kind of guy” at a rally on Thursday.
“By the way, never wrestle him,” Trump said of Montana Republican Greg Gianforte. “You understand that? Never. Any guy that can do a body slam, he’s my kind of guy. He’s my guy.” Trump also mimed a body slam, to loud cheers and laughter from the audience.
Last year, during the special election to replace Republican Ryan Zinke, who stepped down to become Secretary of the Interior, Gianforte had a confrontation with Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs at his campaign headquarters. According to Jacobs and two other witnesses, Gianforte “bodyslammed” the reporter after being asked about the Republicans’ healthcare plan.

On a day when President Donald Trump lamented the apparent death of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi, he also joked about an assault on another scribe. The latter happened on Us soil and involved an American politician.
Speaking at a Make America Great Again rally tonight in Missoula, Montana, the president praised Republican Congressman Greg Gianforte and recounted his assault on Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs.
“Greg is smart, and by the way, never wrestle him,” Trump joked at the rally after Gianforte made brief remarks. “You understand that? Never. Any guy that can do a body slam, he’s my kind of…” Trump mimicked a wrestling move. “He’s my guy.” The crowd ate it up.
The Gianforte assault saw the Congressman sentenced to 40 hours of community service and 20 hours of anger management classes. He pleaded guilty to violently assaulting Jacobs on May 24, 2017, the night before his election to the House of Representatives.

Nothing seemed amiss when two men walked into the campaign office of Democratic Rep. Tom O’Halleran (Az) — at least not at first. The two identified themselves as Jose Rosales and Ahmahd Sadia. They had a jar of money containing $39.68 that they said they wanted to donate to O’Halleran’s campaign, The Guardian’s Ben Jacobs reported. Business as usual.
When they filled out paperwork required by the Fec to go along with the donation, the men identified themselves as part of the “Northern Arizona University Communist party” and demanded a receipt.

On Thursday, President Trump flew to Montana to speak at a rally to promote Republican Matt Rosendale’s Senate campaign. The president compared himself to Abraham Lincoln, said the United States would become a “third-world country” if he were to be impeached and struggled mightily to pronounce the word “anonymous.” In other words, it was a typical Trump rally. But the evening also featured a particularly unsettling moment, which came when the president joked about an incident last summer in which Greg Gianforte, then a candidate for Congress, violently assaulted Ben Jacobs,...

Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation isn’t going as smoothly as Republicans had hoped. Though they still have the ability to confirm President Trump’s latest pick for the high court without help from Democrats, the proceedings have been marred by protests, and Kavanaugh hasn’t been able to provide much ballast for his qualifications other than that he is “pro-law.” He didn’t help his case on Wednesday. As the hearing entered its 12th hour, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-ca), who on Tuesday attempted to delay the hearing, asked...
