It's been a difficult few years for Pixar. During the pandemic, former Disney CEO Bob Chapek decided to drop movies like Soul, Luca, and Turning Red on Disney+, creating the impression that its films were only fit for streaming before Lightyear underperformed at the box office.
Last year, Elemental was quickly written off as a "flop" before proving it had legs (ultimately grossing shy of $500 million), so the pressure is on this weekend's Inside Out 2 to deliver and prove there's still plenty of life left in the studio beyond Toy Story.
Following the sequel's premiere yesterday evening, the first social media reactions are in and they're overwhelmingly positive. As you'll see below, it sounds just as good - if not better - than its 2015 predecessor.
These come just days after Fandango revealed that Inside Out 2 has surpassed the first movie's advance ticket sales, becoming the highest ticket pre-seller...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ marks the next chapter in the ‘Star Wars’ saga, debuting on Disney+ on June 4th. Promising a fresh and distinct adventure, the series is set during the High Republic Era, known as the Golden Age of the Jedi Order.
Showrunner Headland appears keen on exploring a narrative where the Force is not solely the domain of the Jedi, hinting at a nuanced portrayal where even they can embody darkness given the right circumstances.
Today, the social embargo for the show was lifted, allowing some fans to catch the first two (or four) episodes. Excitement was high for their reactions. While the show has sparked mixed feelings among the public, particularly due to some controversial statements by Headland, its female-led nature, the introduction of lightwhips, and other elements perceived as influenced by Dei, positive feedback is dominating the conversation.
Initial reviews commend the series for its captivating mystery,...

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ is the next chapter in the ‘Star Wars’ franchise. The show arrives on Disney+ on June 4th and it promises to be a completely different adventure.
The show will be set during the High Republic Era, also known as the Golden Age of Jedi Order due to their overwhelming numbers, and it seems that Headland is trying to use that setting to prove that Jedi don’t have the monopoly on Force and that they too can be bad guys when context is given.

Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King is slated for a year-end release. The upcoming prequel to 2019’s adventure musical The Lion King is helmed by filmmaker Barry Jenkins who has made Oscar-winning films like If Beale Street Could Talk and Moonlight.
Jenkins recently appeared at CinemaCon 2024 and discussed his new Disney venture. The Moonlight director also addressed the biggest criticism his prequel film and its 2019 predecessor faced. Many fans doubt if 2024’s Mufasa: The Lion King will also walk down the same path as director Jon Favreau’s film.

Ridley Scott has proven himself a master of the historical epic, with many fans eagerly awaiting the release of Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby. The film recently had its world premiere in Paris, and the first reactions to Napoleon have begun to emerge. We’ll update with more Napoleon reactions as they roll out.
Napoleon is a triumph that sees Ridley Scott at his best. The action set pieces are unforgiving and both Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby disappear into their roles. The film is always at its peak when they're on screen together.

Ridley Scott prints the legend in #Napoleon/ #NapoleonMovie & it absolutely rips. A compelling love story between a man & his country, military career, wife & ego. Battle sequences are visceral, gory & gorgeously expansive in scale & scope. Phoenix is great, but Kirby transcends.

New Delhi, July 19 (Ians) Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed on Wednesday said Indian cricket team will look to win gold in what would be their official debut at the Asian Games.
He commented on the fact that cricket is being represented in having the chance to win a yellow metal is a matter of great pride.
This is the second time the men’s cricket team will play in a multi-sport event. The Indian men’s cricket team played at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in a 50-over format. The matches, however, were not accorded international status and were recorded as List A games.
“Our tournament starts for us from the quarter-final stages. All the teams would be good and well prepared. We hope for the gold medal for the country,” Shahbaz Ahmed told a YouTube channel ‘Cricket Basu’.

Continuing his magic with the ball, Saurabh first trapped Riyan Parag lbw in the 34th over, before cleaning up Shahbaz Nadeem in the 38th. Four overs later, the spinner dismissed Akash Deep and Ishan Porel off successive deliveries to secure the win for Central Zone.

Pakistani author Shahbaz Taseer, whose book ‘Lost to the World: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Five Years in Terrorist Captivity’ (Penguin) recently hit the stands, stresses that while he is a Muslim owing to the family and country he was born in, he did not see how practising or devout he was before the life-altering incident. "Still, it is the only religion that I am affiliated with. When I was kidnapped, I discovered my faith. When you have no one – no human being, privilege, and power on earth that can help you, it is only spirituality that you can rely on. And for me, it was Allah," he tells Ians.
Son of assassinated Governor of Punjab (Pakistan), Salman Taseer, Shahbaz himself was not involved in politics, but he was a public figure who represented a more tolerant, internationally connected Pakistan that the militant group Imu condemned.

Bengaluru, May 22 (Ians) Royal Challengers Bangalore head coach Sanjay Bangar believes things just were ‘not clicking’ for veteran wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik to bring out his famed finishing knocks for the franchise in Ipl 2023.
Karthik’s failure to get finishing kicks for the team in Ipl 2023 hurt Bangalore a lot, apart from meagre returns from other middle-order batters too. In Ipl 2022, Karthik hit 330 runs at a strike rate of 183.33 in 16 matched and helped the side get desired finishing touches to their innings, which also paved his way into India’s squad for 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia.
“We tried to define the role for him. We made sure that he was walking in at the moments or in the phases where his strengths could have been maximised. And he had an outstanding season (last year). So I don’t think that his efforts or his preparation or the role...

Hyderabad, May 18 (Ians) South African wicket-keeper batter Heinrich Klaasen’s attacking century (104 off 51) propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad (Srh) to 186/5 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (Rcb) in Match No. 65 of Indian Premier League (Ipl) 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, here on Thursday.

Bengaluru, April 23 (Ians) After Faf du Plessis (62) and Glenn Maxwell’s (77) 127-run stand, Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered a batting collapse as late strikes from Rajasthan Royal (Rr) restricted the hosts to 189/9 in 20 overs in an Ipl 2023 match here at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday.
After losing two wickets early in the Power-play, Du Plessis and Maxwell held the fort and stitched a 127-run stand for the third wicket. After the duo was dismissed within two overs, Rcb lost the next five wickets in quick succession.

Ahead of the tournament, Delhi Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting had stated that the impact player rule will negate the role of all-rounders and bits-and-pieces players, something which was also echoed by Kolkata Knight Riders’ batting all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer too.
So far, the impact player rule has been panning out on the lines Ponting had said as majority of teams have preferred to take the batter-bowler and bowler-batter swap. But former India left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha thinks the impact player rule won’t take away anyone’s value in teams.
"Not really, I feel everybody has a role to play. Impact player rule always adds value. It will never take away anybody else’s value in the team. If you see, we will have all-rounders. But you will have a specialist coming in to either bat or bowl."

Bengaluru, April 11 (Ians) Lucknow Super Giants were 37/3 at the end of power-play, with Royal Challengers Bangalore firmly on top of them in a run chase of 213 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium but Marcus Stoinis brought his side back with his impressive 30-ball 65 while Nicholas Pooran smashed a sensational 19-ball 62, including hitting fastest fifty of the season in 15 balls, to take the team to a last-ball thrilling one-wicket victory in a dramatic match, here on Monday.
Mohammed Siraj gave Bangalore an ideal start as Kyle Mayers chopped on to his stumps. Wayne Parnell dealt double blows to Lucknow, having Deepak Hooda nick behind a cutter to Dinesh Karthik and then forcing Krunal Pandya to edge off an outswinger to the keeper.

Kolkata, April 7 (Ians) In their first home game of Ipl 2023 at a packed Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders were in tatters at 89/5 in 11.3 overs. Royal Challengers Bangalore had David Willey and Karn Sharma picking up two wickets in as many balls, with many fearing an embarrassing defeat for Kkr.
But Shardul Thakur, nearly got out on his first ball, also the hat-trick ball, as the inside edge went past leg-stump, slammed the joint-fastest fifty of the season in 20 balls through his sensational 68 off 28 deliveries. That stunning turnaround set the base for Kkr to thrash Rcb by 81 runs to get their first win of the tournament.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz dazzled in the start with a stroke-filled 57 while Rinku Singh chipped in with a vital 46, apart from sharing an important 103-run partnership off just 47 balls with Thakur to propel Kkr to a mammoth 204/7.

When "Shazam!" first flew into theaters in 2019, the young-at-heart hero was a breath of fresh air. After being called upon by an ancient wizard, 14-year-old Billy Batson (Asher Angel) gained unbelievable powers as the adult superhero, Shazam (Zachary Levi). And as any teen boy would, he immediately put those powers to excellent use by skipping school, wreaking (accidental) havoc, and bonding with his foster brother, Freddy (Jack Dylan Grazer).
At the time, "Shazam!" was a surprisingly pleasant entry in the lackluster DC Extended Universe. And though it found interesting ways to integrate horror, it veered away from the grim Snyder-era films with its distinct sense of humor. Between being genuinely great and earning plenty of love, a sequel was inevitable. Four years and a complete upheaval of the Dceu later, the Shazamily has returned for "Shazam! Fury of the Gods"! And based on the early buzz, they're more magical than ever.

Ranchi, Oct 9 (Ians) Vice-captain Shreyas Iyer struck a magnificent 113 not out while Ishan Kishan slammed a scintillating 93 to give India an emphatic seven-wicket victory over South Africa in the second Odi at Jsca International Stadium on Sunday.
After a late fightback from India on a slow, low pitch meant South Africa were restricted to posting 278/7 in 50 overs despite Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks making 79 and 74 respectively, Iyer and Kishan shared a match-winning stand of 161 off 155 balls for the third wicket.
The duo thwarted every challenge in their way, as South Africa were hampered by dew and inability to put a lid on the scoring rate, to square the three-match series 1-1 through their respective career-best knocks.
Chasing a challenging 279, India lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill in the first ten overs. While Dhawan saw his off-stump uprooted by Wayne Parnell for the second time in as many matches, Gill — with his impressive flicks,...

Ranchi, Oct 9 (Ians) India skipper Shikhar Dhawan said it was great for the side to watch the match-winning partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan in the hosts’ seven-wicket victory over South Africa in the second Odi at Jsca International Stadium on Sunday.
In a challenging chase of 279 on a slow and low pitch, Iyer (113 not out off 111 balls) and Kishan (93 off 84 balls) shared a match-winning stand of 161 off 155 balls for the third wicket to level the three-match series 1-1 and send the series to a decider in New Delhi on Tuesday.
The duo were also helped by the fact that dew hampered the South African bowlers’ efforts’ to put a lid on the scoring rate.
“I must say that Ishan and Shreyas, the way they created that partnership was great to watch. The ball was coming on nicely but it was keeping low. So our plan was to take...

Ranchi, Oct 9 (Ians) Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks slammed impressive fifties, but a late fightback from India meant South Africa were restricted to posting 278/7 in their 50 overs in the second Odi at the Jsca International Stadium on Sunday.
Electing to bat first, Markram (79 off 89 balls) and Hendricks (74 off 76 balls) stitched a run-a-ball 129-run stand for the third wicket. But after the duo fell, India’s bowlers, led by Mohammed Siraj’s 3/38, executed slower balls and straighter lines to perfection to keep South Africa to two runs below 280.
Quinton de Kock began the innings with a glorious straight drive off Siraj for four. But Siraj had the last laugh in the third over as de Kock dragged a full and wide delivery to his stumps. Janneman Malan and Hendricks hit five eye-pleasing boundaries between themselves in the next three overs, before the former was trapped lbw by debutant Shahbaz Ahmed to...

Ranchi, Oct 9 (Ians) Left-arm spin all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed has been handed an Odi debut as Keshav Maharaj-led South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the second match at Jsca International Stadium on Sunday.
After winning the toss, Maharaj said regular captain Temba Bavuma and left-arm wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi were feeling unwell since waking up in the morning and will be replaced by left-arm spinner Bjorn Fortuin and right-handed batter Reeza Hendricks in the playing eleven. Apart from the duo, tearaway pacer Anrich Nortje comes in for Lungi Ngidi for Sunday’s match.
“We are gonna have a bat, looks like a good wicket. Hopefully we can try and utilize the conditions, assess it upfront and play it from there,” said Maharaj.
