Every ’90s child remembers ‘Cool Runnings’ and its eternally catchy ‘Jamaica, We Have A Bobsled Team’ theme song, and now the 2014 Sochi team has created a brand new funky reggae jam for future generations to treasure.
Marvin Dixon and Winston Watts may not have medaled — or even come close — during the Winter Olympics, but the Jamaican bobsled team are still major winners for carrying on the Cool Runnings tradition of debuting a rockin’ theme song for the games.

Miracle on Ice, Part Two? In an intense battle at the Winter Olympics, the United States upset the home team Russia on Feb. 15 — all because of a baby-faced star from Washington.
Three periods and an overtime wasn’t enough to determine a winner in the heated hockey matchup between Russia and the United States on Feb. 15. It came down to a shootout, and one American skater in particular, T.J. Oshie, made sure that the U.S. would not be denied.
T.J. Oshie Helps Team USA Shock Russia
U.S. coach Dan Bylsma put T.J., 27, onto the ice for six shootout attempts as the U.S. and Russia went back and forth in an eight-round shootout — he scored four times. Some of T.J.’s goals kept the U.S. in the game, but none of his scores were bigger than the last one that won the game...

Aside from watching skeleton slider Noelle Pikus-Pace finally win her Olympic medal, there wasn’t much to love in NBC’s primetime broadcast on Valentine’s Day. Commentator Scott Hamilton referred to the men’s free skate as “disappointing,” and Ted Ligety admitted he “choked” in the Super Combined. On the upside, I did have time to wonder how many people have sang, “I like the way you work it, Ted Ligety” to the tune of “No Diggity” to him, so that’s something. (Update: At least one.) Here we go.

27-year-old Chris Schleicher is a writer for The Mindy Project. Before launching his comedy career, though, Schleicher spent 16 years as a competitive figure skater — he and his pairs partner (a.k.a. his sister) were ranked 13th in the nation before Schleicher retired in his early 20s. (He actually got the Mindy job by writing a pilot about his skating days, which, naturally, was called On Thin Ice.)
In short, Schleicher knows more about figure skating than you do — and he’s also a lot funnier when riffing on the sport’s inherent ridiculosity. So please, before NBC airs the...

Hopes were high for Chicago native Jason Brown, 19, after a promising short program on Feb. 13 left him in medal contention. However, his Feb. 14 free skate routine fell way short of the golden mark.
Jason Brown had the nation buzzing on Feb. 13 when his impressive short program in the Sochi Winter Olympics left him in sixth place, less than a point out from third and in serious medal contention.
Olympics — Jason Brown Loses Free Skate
At the end of the day it was Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan who walked away with the gold medal, despite falling in the midst of a quadruple jump that seemingly put him out of contention. Canada’s Patrick Chan stole silver, while Kazakhstan’s Denis Ten won bronze. Russia’s Evgeni Plushenko was favored to win big, but he drew the ire of the motherland when he dropped out last minute due to spinal pain.

Warning: Do not keep reading if you'd like to remain spoiler-free for the men's figure skating finals, which will be featured on NBC's Friday (Feb. 14) primetime broadcast at 8 p.m. Et/Pt.
The 2014 Winter Olympics men's figure skating finals went out with a whimper rather than a roar. There were a lot of falls and bobbles, plus Russian favorite Yevgeny Plushenko was not competing, so not only were scores lower than expected, but there wasn't the same excitement in the building as there could have been.
U.S. skater Jeremy Abbott rallied from his big fall Thursday during the short program to post a personal best in the free skate, which is his final Olympic appearance. Fellow Team USA skater Jason Brown had a chance at the bronze medal, but he would have had to skate a nearly flawless program to leap-frog Kazakhstan's Denis Ten for third place, and he did not.

You may have heard about him after his second place performance at Figure Skating Nationals went viral or from his ponytail's twitter account. Either way, Jason Brown is one to watch. He went into the Winter Games with no expectation of winning a medal, but after earning a personal best score in the short program, he is now at the heels of major competitors like Patrick Chan from Canada and Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan. Here are all the reasons you should be rooting for him during his final event, Men's Free Skate, airing Friday, February 14.

Olympics recap: Jeremy Abbott's a phoenix, plus the slopestyle boys at their 5 most precious moments
There are many candidates for Thursday’s Olympic Stud of the Day, an EW.com tradition dating back to the 2008 Summer Games that honors the athlete who was the night’s biggest/coolest badass. The U.S.’s Joss Christensen, Gus Kenworthy, and Nick Goepper swept the inaugural men’s ski slopestyle event — a feat the U.S. has only accomplished twice before in Winter Olympics history. Japan’s Yuzuru Hanyu became the first male figure skater to ever score above 100 points for a short program. Zhang Hong was the first Chinese speed skater to win long-track gold. But we...

Figure skater Jason Brown made a name for himself last month when he performed a crazy-impressive Riverdance routine. And on Thursday, he earned his personal best score of 86.00 in the men's short competition, coming in sixth ahead of the Olympic finals. Skating to Prince's "The Question of U," the 19-year-old Team USA athlete showed plenty of personality on the ice. Jason was thrust into the national spotlight since the "Riverdance" performance went viral, and he told The New York Times that the attention has been surreal. Mentioning all the YouTube views on his routine, he said, "Honestly, I flip out when there's 100 people." Take a look at the best photos from his routine, and tune into NBC a 8 p.m. Est tonight to watch it in primetime. View Slideshow ›...

Warning: Do not keep reading if you'd like to remain spoiler-free for NBC's primetime Winter Olympics broadcast Thursday (Feb. 13), which will feature the men's figure skating short program results.
It was a day of ups and downs for men's figure skating. Beloved Russian skater Yevgeny Plushenko hurt himself in warm-ups and was forced to withdraw from the competition. An hour later, Japanese skater Yuzuru Hanyu became the first skater to ever earn a short program score that tops 100.
The U.S. skaters each had a good day, albeit for very different reasons. Jason Brown skated a clean program and earned a personal best 86 points, good for 6th place and putting him in the mix for the bronze medal, all depending on how the free skate shakes out.
Jeremy Abbott, on the other hand, fell hard during his first jump, crashing against the boards and lying there on the ice for nearly 30 seconds.

The men’s figure skating event gets underway Feb. 13 in Sochi, with the free skate following Feb. 14 (both air live at 10 a.m. Et on Nbcsn before NBC’s prime-time coverage). If you’re a fan of the U.S.’s Jason Brown, you’re probably wondering if the Olympic audience could possibly be as responsive to him as the crowd at Nationals. We asked 1998 gold medalist-turned-commentator Tara Lipinski. Watch her response below.
You may already have seen Brown skate his “Riverdance” free skate in the team event at the Games. But to get the full effect, you’re going...

Warning: Don't keep reading if you want to remain spoiler-free as to the outcome of the team figure skating event, which enters its third and final day Sunday (Feb. 9). It will be featured in NBC's primetime broadcast this evening, which begins at 7 p.m. Et/Pt.
The first event in the 2014 Winter Olympics team figure skating finals is the men's free skate. The U.S., Canada and Japan all chose to have a different man skate in the long program than who competed earlier in the short program.
For the U.S., Jason Brown was subbed in for Jeremy Abbott. Brown, in his Olympics debut, put forth a solid performance but did fall on one of his jumps. With Canada finishing in second place for the men, it mathematically eliminated the U.S. for the silver medal.
The final men's results:
Russia, Yevgeny Plushenko, 168.20
Canada, Kevin Reynolds, 167.92
Japan, Taksuti Machida,...

Us figure skater Jason Brown will compete in the Winter Olympics as part of Team USA, and this insanely impressive routine will show you why. The 19-year-old athlete is the first teenage male singles skater to make the team since 1976, and he's Riverdancing his way to Sochi after winning the bronze and silver medals at the last two World Junior Championships. Brown was born and raised in Chicago, and he says figure skating was his dream, not his parents', adding, "My parents are so not in the skating world. They don't know a flip from a lutz." Honestly, neither do we, but we do know that in all its incredible, sequined glory, this awesome routine has us really excited for this year's Games.
