This article contains spoilers for "Star Wars: Ahsoka" episode 3 — "Time to Fly"
"Ahsoka" moved the plot forward quite a bit in its third episode, titled "Time to Fly." We saw Ahsoka Tano take to training Sabine Wren as her Jedi apprentice once again, lots of epic space battle action, and even some Purrgil, aka the space whales from "Star Wars Rebels," in live-action. It was a lot, and it feels like the return of both Ezra Bridger and Grand Admiral Thrawn is right around the corner. But one character's absence looms particularly large after this latest episode, and that's Leia Organa. So we must ask the question, where is Leia during the events taking place in this show?
In terms of the overall "Star Wars" timeline, "Ahsoka" takes place around 8 or 9 Aby, or after the Battle of Yavin, which takes place during "A New Hope." So, essentially, we're a handful...

"How many others, Tom?" The first official UK trailer has debuted for a low-budget contained thriller titled Hippopotamus, the feature directorial debut of a young British filmmaker named Edward A. Palmer (aka Ed Palmer), giving us something akin to Saw or 10 Cloverfield Lane. Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila stars as Ruby, a girl who has been kidnapped, but her kidnapper doesn’t want a ransom. He wants her to fall in love with him. Of course he does. The amazing Dp Roger Deakins described the film as "mesmerizing" after seeing it at the Plymouth Film Festival. Hippopotamus was shot while Edward was still at university for a mere £5,000, then it toured to over 20 festivals. It will be releasing in the UK coming up soon (straight to VOD it seems) though there's still no Us date yet. This looks quite good, I'm curious to see where it leads to. Here's the...

All fans are wondering how the Skywalker saga will come to an end with the final film this December. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is sure to include the end of the story for Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, and all of our other favorite new characters. But will any of our older storylines and classic characters be revisited? According to a report from Making Star Wars, that may just happen. They classify this only as rumors from a trusted source at this point, but just to be safe-
One piece of news that was verified by the filmmakers of the upcoming film was that the role of Leia Organa would not be recast, but that production may use unseen footage to create an onscreen appearance. Making Star Wars noted that this appearance may be in the form of a flashback sequence.

Director J.J. Abrams might have found a way to reutilize deleted footage from The Force Awakens to keep the much-missed Carrie Fisher’s General Leia in the story, but a new report is claiming that the actress’ daughter Billie Lourd stood in for her mother during a key flashback scene in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
MakingStarWars.net says they’ve been told by their sources close to the production that the upcoming Episode IX will feature a flashback sequence in its first act that harks back to the aftermath of Return of the Jedi. It’ll involve a young Luke and Leia, likely meaning Mark Hamill will reprise his role via de-aging tech while Lourd stood in for Fisher, with CGI completing the transformation in post-production. Something similar was done, of course, in Rogue One, in which Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila filled in for Fisher.

Some interesting set photos from Rogue One: The Star Wars Story have surfaced online. They offer us a behind-the-scenes look at actress Ingvild Deila in the role of Princess Leia before they gave her the CGI makeover. As you can see, she's rocking the classic Leia hairdo like a champion.
The young actress who played Leia in the film recently talked about her experience working on the film that you can check out here. It sounds like this was such a cool experience for her at the time of filming. Stepping in the shoes of someone like Princess Leia is a pretty big deal.

While Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was a huge success both critically and financially, there was one part of it that continues to spark controversy and debate amongst fans, even now, months after it hit theatres. Of course, we’re referring to the fact that Disney chose to recreate Peter Cushing’s Grand Moff Tarkin and Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia using CGI. The former caused the most discussion, given that he passed away in 1994, but when Fisher suddenly died just weeks after Rogue One‘s release, her CGI recreation was also put under the spotlight – even though the actress apparently loved her cameo.
However you feel about the studio’s decision to include these characters, you’ve got to admit that the team did a fantastic job in bringing them to...

Rogue One was always designed as a movie that leads directly into the original Star Wars trilogy, so it’s appropriate that it ends with Princess Leia. The young princess receives the Death Star plans stolen by the film’s central characters, intones a message of hope, then takes off to begin the plot of Star Wars IV: A New Hope. To recreate young Leia, the filmmakers digitally replicated Carrie Fisher’s face on the body and performance of Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila. And after keeping mum about the role for months, Deila just gave her first interview with U.K. YouTuber/Star Wars fan Jamie Stangroom.
Deila begins by talking about her strange audition process. The initial, nondescript studio-feature audition simply requested actresses who fit a specific set of measurements record a three-minute video in which they talked about literally anything. Deila only began to realize what she was...

It was the culmination of the most acclaimed scene from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
After Darth Vader's lightsaber rampage sees terrified Rebel soldiers trying to escape with the plans to the Death Star, a familiar face emerges to deliver one line: "Hope."
Norwegian actress Ingvild Deila was sworn to secrecy about her role in helping digitally re-create Carrie Fisher's likeness from 1977's Star Wars: A New Hope, and didn't quite know what she was auditioning for at first. The look at a young Leia cameo would become all the more poignant in hindsight, when weeks after the film's...

For the first time ever, Ingvild Deila, the actress who played Princess Leia in Star Wars: Rogue One, is speaking out! The actress talks about what it's like to play a role previously held by Carrie Fischer, keeping the role under wraps for a year, and having her face CGI'd over so that no one would recognize her on the streets. Jamie Stangroom (the same guy who got that sad interview with the actor who played Jar Jar Binks) is back in an engaging interview that is definitely worth checking out!

Whether you’re wowed or creeped out by the controversial digital humans in “Rogue One,” featuring the late Peter Cushing’s Grand Moff Tarkin and Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia from “A New Hope,” there’s no denying that Ilm has achieved a new level of photoreal facial animation.
In fact, the same facial performance-capture solving system (developed at Ilm by Kiran Bhat, Michael Koperwas, Brian Cantwell, and Paige Warner) will be among the Academy’s 18 Sci-Tech honorees this year.
But the high-fidelity work on “Warcraft” — even though it was Orcs — convinced Ilm’s chief creative officer and senior VFX supervisor John Knoll (and creator of “Rogue One”) to pull the trigger. “We were within striking distance to achieve close-up digital human work,” he told IndieWire.
For Tarkin and Leia, they mocapped actors Guy Henry (“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”) and Ingvild Deila, respectively.
Added Hal Hickel, Ilm’s animation supervisor: “On ‘Warcraft,...

Forty years after her first appearance as Princess Leia in 1977’s Star Wars: A New Hope, Carrie Fisher will appear one final time in her iconic role – even after her death.
Fisher had already finished filming scenes for the next Star Wars installment, Episode VIII, due out in Dec. 2017.
She was also slated to appear in Episode IX, but had not begun filming.
One of her last roles before her death on Tuesday at age 60 was also as the Star Wars heroine.
Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot details from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

A few characters from Star Wars: A New Hope awesomely make an appearance in Rogue One. These characters were brought back to life in CGI form. I won’t tell you who they are right now in case you haven’t seen the movie yet, but Lucasfilm discusses their decision to bring these characters back to life as well as the work that went into making it happen with the New York Times.
One of the biggest surprises in the film for me was how big a role Grand Moff Tarkin played in Rogue One’s story! I already knew he would be in the film, but I didn’t think his part would be that big, so that was awesome. I thought Ilm did an amazing job bringing this character played by Peter Cushing back to life.

A cast list from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has surfaced online. If it's the real thing, we have some interesting information on some of the other characters from the original Star Wars trilogy who will be making an appearance. We already know a few of the characters from the original trilogy — like Darth Vader — who will be in it, but there are a few others that I think you'll be interested in learning about.
The cast list originated from Reddit user tphilb, and I came across it over on Star Wars News. Some of the characters included on this list could be considered a spoiler, so tread lightly.
Here is what tphilb said on his Reddit page:
"Because of my line of work, the end credits for Rogue One came across my desk the other day. While I couldn’t take a picture of the screen (phone not allowed,...

Star Wars News has spotted a Reddit post which seemingly spills the beans on all of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's surprise cameos. The person who shared the list claimed that their line of work means that the movie's credits made their way on to his desk (so, take this with a pinch of salt for now), and if it's accurate, we can expect to see a fair few familiar faces from the original trilogy in this release. Apparently, Avengers: Age of Ultron actress Ingvild Deila is going to star as a young Princess Leia, and while she's not exactly Carrie Fisher's doppelganger, it's easy to imagine her playing the character. Spencer Wilding and Daniel Naprous are credited with being inside Darth Vader's iconic costume (there go those rumours about Hayden Christensen returning), while British actor Guy Henry (Harry Potter) will play Governor Tarkin. Game of Thrones...
