Les Savy Fav brought a little bit a lot of chaos to their rendition of “World Got Great” on Late Night with Seth Myers on Wednesday night.
The occasion was a particularly special one for the New York City indie punk band. By day, Bassist Syd Butler and guitarist Seth Jabour are members of Seth Meyers’ house band, the 8G Band. You wouldn’t guess they were the tenured employees based on the performance, however, because vocalist Tim Harrington was the one strutting across the studio like he owned the building.

How many drummers does it take to make a late-night show? Well over 300 if you’re Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Drummers have been a fixture in late-night for years – think of Max Weinberg, the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band who became the bandleader for Conan O’Brien and Ed Shaughnessy on The Tonight Show with Jonny Carson – but Meyers’ NBC show has paved a new path for stick wizards.
Eric Leiderman, a producer on the show, has been overseeing a rotating group of drummers that since the show began – ten years ago on Saturday.
This has included the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Slayer’s Dave Lombardo, Guns N’ Roses’ Matt Sorum, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam’s Matt Cameron, Allison Miller and Mudhoney’s Dan Peters.
As the show celebrates this anniversary, Leiderman tells Deadline how this under-the-radar scheme came about and why...

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is apparently thankful for Seth Meyers. The organization chose Thanksgiving Day to announce that the “Late Night with Seth Meyers” star will host the 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
News of Meyers’ gig first leaked to the trades last week, so the choice wasn’t a surprise. Interestingly, the HFPA made it official via a story on its website, rather than in a joint announcement with NBC.
Meyers takes over after “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon hosted last year’s ceremony. Meyers also hosted the Primetime Emmys in 2014, the last time NBC aired that awards show — which means that, perhaps, the two hosts have swapped gigs this year. If that’s the case, then Fallon might once again host next September’s Primetime Emmys, which he last did in 2010.

Jennifer Lawrence has been pure class and beauty during her whirlwind press tour for Mother! this month, but her true and raunchy self (which we like better, tbh) came out when she stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday. The actress, who made her red carpet debut with boyfriend Darren Aronofsky this week, told Seth an epic story about a crazy bar fight she got into during a night out in Budapest, Hungary. After a guy approached her and asked for a selfie, Jen, who has been vocal about her refusal to take pictures with fans, said no. Long story short: he got angry and she got even. After the CHiPs actor got bumped from the Wednesday spot on Late Night With Seth Meyers in favor of a much bigger star (his wife, Kristen Bell), the actress used her time on the show to talk about the couple's interesting dynamic. Attention internet trolls: you can't keep Leslie Jones down, so don't bother trying. The Ghostbusters actress and Saturday Night Live comedian stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday to discuss the recent rash of racist tweets aimed in her direction on the social media platform and how everyone misinterpreted her reaction to it all. "They said I left Twitter! I didn't leave!" she told Seth. "What's scary about the whole thing is that the insults didn't hurt me. Unfortunately, I'm used to the insults. That's unfortunate. What scared me was the injustice of a gang of people jumping against you for such a sick cause." Following the infuriating situation, the 48-year-old star has had plenty of celebrities come to her defense, and a number of Ghostbusters fans sent her heartfelt, hilarious video messages of support. Say you run into "Game of Thrones" star Maisie Williams at a fan convention, or even a coffee shop in London. What, if anything, would you say to the actress who plays Arya Stark?
Maisie was just on "Late Night with Seth Meyers" to promote the return of GoT on April 24, and it turns out fans ask her two main things:
1) What's going on with Jon Snow? (Eye Roll)
2) Can you read Arya's kill list into my phone, and add my name?
If we were Maisie, we'd be most annoyed by the Jon Snow questions since, as she put it, "What about Arya, right? I'm like, no one wants to hear about Jon Snow, there's loads of other really exciting storylines that are going on on the show." Hint, hint. Seth said he hopes Kit Harington (who plays Jon Snow) gets questions about Arya when he walks down the street.

Bradley Cooper's appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday night was nonstop adorable. In between promoting his new movie Joy, in which he plays a QVC executive, the actor told Seth some hilariously cute stories about his mom's own obsession with the home shopping network. Bradley, who was spotted wearing matching plaid shirts with his mom earlier this month, also noted how happy he was to be working on his fourth movie with Jennifer Lawrence, saying their relationship "feels like a family." Watch the video above, and then see the supercute dates Bradley and Jennifer invited to their New York movie premiere!

"Late Night with Seth Meyers" is probably best when the host invites his famous pals to yak, reminisce, and sometimes engage in hilarious new sketches. Remember when Ana Gasteyer apologized to Martha Stewart on Seth's show? Gold. This week Seth invited another of his "SNL" pals to be hilarious, and it provided yet another gem. Here he is with Rachel Dratch in a sketch about apologizing for past misgivings. This calls to mind a theory I'd like to share: Rachel Dratch is secretly one of the most versatile cast members in "SNL" history and potentially the most underrated of the 21st century. Remember Debbie Downer? You do. She's even willing to complete a "Double Dare"-like course and disparage the career of Julia Roberts for a laugh. Of all her characters, this "lover" is the most ingenious. She's a recognizable, yet rare type for comedy. She's lecherous but deluded,...

Tina Fey stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday and ended up dropping one of the best Dubsmash videos ever. Tina, who spoke about the Instagram lip-sync video of her and her Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt costars singing Beyoncé's "***Flawless," said that was nothing compared to what Maya Rudolph can do. After getting Maya's permission to share the hilarious video on Seth's show, Tina introduced it by saying, "This is how a professional does it. . . . This is such a high-quality level of Dubsmash that it's not even a music one; it's a dialogue one. . . . Everyone should be as good as this or they shouldn't put it on the Internet." Watch Maya's amazing skills above, and then check out the trailer for Sisters, Tina's new movie with Amy Poehler.

Thanks to Bill Hader, what happens in Amsterdam, Netherlands, doesn't always stay in Amsterdam. The actor stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Monday and talked about a crazy night he had in the European city while promoting his movie Trainwreck earlier this Summer. When asked what the cast got up to during their trip, Bill told Seth that he, Amy Schumer, Vanessa Bayer, and Judd Apatow indulged in Amsterdam's legal use of marijuana. "We got stoned," he said with a laugh. "We all got crazy stoned. And I don't smoke pot that often. Everyone decided to then walk through the Red Light District, so Vanessa was just holding on to me for dear life." Watch the interview above to find out what exactly happened to Vanessa, and then check out the Trainwreck blooper reel.

During an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday, Craig Robinson sang a beautiful love song about the one thing we all can't resist: chocolate muffins. The actor, who was promoting his new show Mr. Robinson, performed "Chocolate Muffins" for the audience, which included lyrics like, "Damn, girl, it's gettin' hot in here from all this preheating," and, "Don't lick the bowl, baby. It tickles, but it feels weird." Watch Craig sing the hilarious song above, then check out Seth discovering Jake Gyllenhaal's dirty little secret during a recent episode.

Since Gawker leaked Donald Trump's phone number, "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" did a bit where President Obama called Trump with debate advice. Cue Jimmy's impressive impression of The Donald and his constant interruptions and number dumping: Trump: "I don't understand, why would you want to help me become president?" Obama: "Uh, because it'd be hilarious? Look, I've been president for eight years, I'm ready for some entertainment. I just want to grab some popcorn, sit back, and watch this whole sh-tshow go down." Haha. Watch the whole video for their "Cheerleader" duet. Please say it's true that Trump's debate will indeed be auto-tuned. Meryl Streep...

Tom Cruise remains one of the world's greatest entertainers, and he proved it Monday night on "The Tonight Show." He and Jimmy Fallon wowed the crowd with two amazing rounds of "Lip Sync Battle," starting with Tom almost rivaling queen Emma Stone (that battle would be close) with The Weeknd's "Can't Feel My Face" and a duet with himself in Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." Jimmy brought his A-game too, of course, and they ended with a two-person duet of "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" -- a nice nod to "Top Gun" -- which was performed as a serenade to an embarrassed/thrilled woman in the audience.

Jake Gyllenhaal stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, and things got hairy (well, sort of) very quickly. While Jake's interview portion seemed to go well, Seth discovered a dark secret about the actor after he left his cell phone on stage. In the hilarious clip, Seth goes backstage to give Jake his phone back, but when he knocks on his dressing room door, he discovers something he wasn't expecting: Jake is actually bald. Watch the awkward moment above and Jake's interview below, then listen to him talk to Howard Stern about his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Jake Gyllenhaal played Slapjack Tuesday night on "The Tonight Show" -- perfect for the boxing star of "Southpaw" -- but his "uncouth" back-scratching interview was even more fun. First, here's the Slapjack game:
Now to the classic interview. Not sure if you saw the photo, but Jake got called out by the paparazzi for scratching his back with a fork; this was deemed "uncouth,", so -- on "The Tonight Show" -- Jake responded. "Come on. You take a picture behind my back and then call me uncouth?" He then defended the many uses of the fork, including back scratching. "It's not just used to eat with, you can pick other things up with it.

The summer is a confusing time for late night shows. With vacation time, shows are often off, then on, seemingly at random. When shows do air, there’s fewer dangerous animals on, and more affect-less athletes. And yet, some really funny things happen on late night during these lesser watched months. Jimmy Fallon nearly lost a hand, Conan rode into Comic-Con with a Mad Max war band. We got to see Colbert interview Eminem on Monroe, Michigan public access TV. Jon Stewart’s Daily Show month long “moment of zen” farewell continues, streaming every episode back-to-back, available globally. It wasn’t all bad.
Last week, Bill Hader and Amy Schumer were doing the rounds for Trainwreck, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were reunited with Jimmy, Emma Stone was on Conan, Meyers got a dose of Schumer and Jim Gaffigan, and Corden horsed around with Ian McKellen. Plus, John Oliver took...

You know Plinko, the "Price Is Right" game? Monday night on "The Tonight Show," the human perfection that is "Ant-Man" star Paul Rudd did a version with Jimmy Fallon called Drinko, requiring them to potentially drink things like "Bacon Soda" and Pickle Juice. They both had to drink Gravy, which is too nasty, but one of them ended up having to mix Gravy with Tequila: "They call it 'Thanksgiving' south of the border."
In his interview, Paul talked to Jimmy about trying to do a full "Basic Instinct" on his "Ant-Man" co-star Michael Douglas. It failed. But it's hilarious. It ended up looking like he was "pleasuring himself" while Michael was doing a monologue.

Matt Bomer stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers on Tuesday and revealed a glorious fact about Magic Mike Xxl: he will be stripping and singing on screen. Matt told Seth that while taking his clothes off for the camera was a daunting task on its own, Channing Tatum also told him that he would be singing live at the same time. But instead of doubling his nerves, Matt admitted that singing actually helped calm him during the racy stripping scenes. Watch the interview above to see his funny admission, then check out Joe Manganiello revealing the unlikely person who convinced him to do the movies. And if you still need more muscly goodness before the film's July 1 release, feel free to get your freak on with the full soundtrack.

Can you even imagine "Big D*ck Richie" as anyone else except Joe Manganiello?! The actor stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers on Monday and revealed that his supersexy role in Magic Mike and Magic Mike Xxl almost never happened. Joe admitted to Seth that he was hesitant to sign up for the stripper flick back in 2012 because he thought it would - wait for it- turn down his appeal. But it wasn't until he talked to comedian Chris Rock about it that he decided to go for it. "I got this script about male strippers and, you know, I'm this naked werewolf guy on TV, it's like, man, I'm kind of a guy's guy, and I think guys are going to hate me if I keep doing this," he said. "[Chris] said, 'Man, guys are going to hate you anyway.'" Watch the funny revelation above, then check out...

Conan O'Brien was back with another round of Clueless Gamer -- but wait! It was the first-ever team multi-player edition of Clueless Gamer. "That's history, kids." Team Coco took on Team Silicon Valley, featuring Thomas Middleditch, Tj Miller, & Zach Woods of the HBO show "Silicon Valley," and they played "Halo 5: Guardians." Prepare for 9 minutes of hilarity. "I don't see anybody! I'm like my father at night looking for Fig Newtons. I'm just wandering around." Poor Conan.
This will make you Lol too. Aziz Ansari was on "The Tonight Show" to promote his book, "Modern Romance: An Investigation," and he and Jimmy Fallon chatted about embarrassing first text messages between guys and girls.

Denis dressed like a rock star for his new show "Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll." He said, his first day on set, he took a photo with a woman in his rock star gear and she told him she was so excited to pose with her favorite "Glee" star. Yep, she thought he was Jane Lynch!
Now you must watch "Jimmy Kimmel Live" guests Chris Pratt and Abby Elliott playing "Name That Famous Celebrity.

The late night world was on repeats last week, but everyone (except "Late Show," alas) is back this week. Melissa McCarthy was on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" and they played "Random Picture Word Association." Of course, tonight is David Letterman's final night as host of the Late Show, but it's also Paul Shaffer's last night as his bandleader. To celebrate Shaffer's 33 years in late night (40 if you include Saturday Night Live), Vulture asked another late-night bandleader, Fred Armisen, to pay tribute. Dan Reilly spoke with Armisen for this as-told-to piece. I didn't decide to join Late Night With Seth Meyers as his bandleader. My life is, "Do you want to try this?" "Yes." "Do you want do this?" "Okay." If someone asked me to do a Spanish soap opera tomorrow, I'd say, "Let me try it. Let me see what that's like." It was Lorne Michaels's idea. I had finished SNL, and they were trying different things out for Seth's band. Maybe it was going to be a DJ, maybe it was going to be nothing — and then Lorne Michaels...

Anna Kendrick isn't buying into all the royal baby hype. On Thursday's Late Night With Seth Meyers, the Pitch Perfect 2 star recalled being in the U.K. when Princess Charlotte was born earlier this month, and she was—to say the least—less than impressed with the fan frenzy surrounding the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William's second child. "First of all, I don't know why anybody cares about the royal baby," she said. "Because it's a baby! It hasn't done anything. It hasn't achieved anything. It was just born." If I had the chance to sit down and have dinner with a character from HBO’s Game of Thrones, I don’t know if Jon Snow would be anywhere near the top of my list (although he’d definitely be above Cersei—she’d totally poison everything). However, after seeing the entertaining results from his guest appearance at dinner on last night’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, I may have to reconsider my top choices. Maybe Jon would be a lot of fun. Although, when I say “fun,” I don’t exactly mean lively or cheerful. As you can see for yourself in the video below, when Seth brings Jon Snow (the actual character, not the actor who plays him, Game of Thrones Kit Harrington) to a dinner party and tries to help him make friends, things don’t go especially well, especially when Jon gets talking about his family (his dead father,...
