She was sentenced to a $5,000 fine, ten year's probation and restricted from acting as a director, producer, first assistant director or any department head with safety responsibilities. The sentencing of “Midnight Rider” director Randall Miller drew a sharp, swift response from Steven Poster, president of the International Cinematographers Guild, on Monday. While Poster said that Miller’s 10-year sentence “does provide some small sense of closure,” he also noted that the sentencing should send an industry-wide message that “No movie or TV show is worth a life.” Also Read: ‘Midnight Rider’ Trial: Director Randall Miller Changes Plea to Guilty The trial stemmed from the death of 27-year-old camera assistant Sarah Jones, who died while filming the Gregg Allman biopic last year when a train struck her while a dream sequence was.

Instead of putting the finishing touches on his movie, Randall Miller will spend at least a year behind bars. The director of the proposed Allman Brothers Band biopic Midnight Rider has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespassing in connection with the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones, who was struck and killed by a freight train on the film's Georgia set in February 2014. Miller was sentenced to two years in county jail, followed by eight years of probation, and fined $20,000, Deadline reported Monday, noting that the veteran filmmaker's lawyer said his client would probably only spend about a year in jail. He is barred, however, from directing or otherwise participating in...

William Hurt has exited the Gregg Allman biopic in the wake of a train accident that killed one of the film's camera assistants.
Production on the movie has been halted in the aftermath of Sarah Jones dying after being struck by a train while preparing to shoot scenes in Georgia.
A criminal investigation is currently underway to determine if any charges will be brought over Jones's death.
Hurt had been cast as the older version of Allman in the film and was present at the time of Jones's death, but Deadline reports that he has now quit the project.
Producers apparently were working on recasting the role even before Hurt formally left the movie.
There has been talk of re-starting production in Los Angeles in the coming weeks, in spite of a recent social media campaign against the continuation of the film.
Tyson Ritter has been cast as a younger version of Allman,...

With the movie opening on July 1st 2015, camera's have started rolling on the Terminator reboot, Terminator: Genesis, with Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) at the helm. The movie's Facebook page announced the news, along with posting a picture of the first production slate (which features an R.I.P. Sarah sticker as part of the Slates for Sarah movement to honour Sarah Jones, a camera assistant who died tragically on set in February). Absolutely nothing is known about the reboot, other than Arnie will return, alongside Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, and Jason Clarke as John Connor.

Today, Skydance Productions uploaded an interesting photo to the company Facebook account. It shows a slate marking roll one, take one of a film directed by Alan Taylor. On the side, it says “R.I.P Sarah,” likely in honor of the late camera assistant Sarah Jones. The slate is a good announcement that Terminator Genesis filming is under […]

While we celebrated film's crowning achievements at the 2014 Oscars last night, it's important to remember the talents that we've lost over this past year. Last night's Academy Awards In Memorium Tribute featured 47 names, including James Gandolfini, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Peter O'Toole, Paul Walker and Shirley Temple. Read More: Sarah Jones, Crew Member Killed on Set, Honored at Academy Awards In many ways, it was a tragic year for film, with a number of artists leaving well before their time. It was certainly a poignant moment as the tribute closed with lingering portrait of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. A few notable names didn't make it into the piece. 'Glee' star, Cory Monteith, former 'Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' star, James Avery, and the prolific author, Tom Clancy went unacknowledged. Watch the full tribute below:...

One of my favorite writers, Nick Davis, doesn't often do long-form work on the Oscars these days, so his piece in The Advocate on this year's unusually narrow Oscar field -- with just a dozen films taking all the slots for picture, director, acting and writing -- is a treat. The race has got harder, he says, for dark horses and discoveries. "If you’ve been paying any attention to TV spots or popular magazines since September, you’d already heard of every movie in every category where the victor speaks for more than 20 seconds ... In the top ranks, Oscar risks feeling gratuitous, furnishing extra hype to already well-hyped entertainments. If that’s all he’s good for, why not let him wander off into that Nebraskan good night?" Not that it's all bad news, he says: "Whenever Academy glory and global notice extend to an urgent, brilliantly filmed commemoration...
