Ratings suggest that most of America skipped Tuesday's performance finale for "American Idol." If you're just tuning in for Wednesday's two hours of guest appearances and very limited results, here's what you missed on Tuesday. Bottom Line: Caleb Johnson versus Jena Irene? It's gonna be a close one. Probably. Click through and follow along for two hours of live-blogging! 8:00 p.m. Et. We begin with intercutting between Caleb & Jena's audition experiences in The Box and their introduction to 7,000 squealing fans at the Nokia Theatre. The night's first performance finds Caleb head-banging to Queen's "We Will Rock You," leading into Jena working the crowd on "I'm Just A Girl." Jena gets dancers. Caleb, however, got a song he could actually sing. They join together for a fire-filled duet on "It's Only Love." So much fire. 8:05 p.m. Ryan's gone strict black-tie tonight after last night's white jacket. 8:06 p.

Spoilers for "American Idol" Top 12 week are below! When it comes to showbiz awards, no one is better at predicting the eventual winners than Gold Derby. Just look at last week's Oscars, where our community made up of Experts, Editors and Users correctly predicted 22 out of 24 eventual winners. How are we doing so far at predicting "American Idol's" weekly cast-offs? During our inaugural contest last week for "Idol's" Top 13 week, our users correctly predicted that Kristen O'Connor would be voted out from the baker's dozen of contestants. However, this week was a different story. -Break- Gold Derby's users predicted that the Top 12 week would see the end of C.J. Harris' run, but he didn't even end up in the bottom three. Instead, the singer who came in fourth place in our elimination vote went home: Emily Piriz. While I correctly guessed Emily's downfall, many others thought that...

Last Thursday's "American Idol" results weren't entirely shocking. I'd predicted that Kristen O'Connor would be eliminated and, for several reasons, she was. However, it was a minor surprise to see all of the Bottom Three slots go to women, which suggests either a shift in talent from last season, or a shift in voting patterns. It's too early, though, to know if we should start worrying about all of the girls, or just the weaker ones. Wednesday's theme is "Home," which should be roughly interchangeable from last week's theme, which involved songs that made a personal statement. After all, if your personal statement didn't say anything about where you come from, how personal could it have been? We'll see how things go after the break! 8 p.m. Et. Preparation montage! Can each of the Alabama contestants sing "Sweet Home Alabama"? "Who will bring the house down tonight?" asks Ryan Seacrest.

Though she was the first Top 13 contestant to be eliminated on Season 13 of American Idol,Kristen O'Connor says she wouldn't have done anything differently — even though she was talked out of her original song choice for what ended up being her final performance.
"They ask us to send a list of three songs that we think we're going to sing, and it actually wasn't on my list," O'Connor tells TVGuide.com. "But then the producers were like, 'Oh, we think this would be a really good song.' They got really excited about it, and so I got really excited about it. ... It was kind of a last-minute type decision, but I was happy with it."

Spoilers for the season premiere of "American Idol" are below! Congratulations to our site user Denton for earning the most points during our inaugural "American Idol" contest. (See the Top 5 above.) Kristen O'Connor knew when Ryan Seacrest announced she'd gotten the least amount of votes of the "American Idol" Season 13 Top 13 finalists that she was going home.
"I didn't expect a save because they've already used the Wild Card on me and it is the first week of the finals," O'Connor tells Zap2it and a small group of reporters backstage after the Top 13 results show. "I think we all knew that no matter who it was, they probably weren't going to save them. I knew especially for me it wasn't going to happen no matter how good the performance was. So I just knew I wanted to go out with a bang and I was proud of the performance I gave."
O'Connor kept it together on TV, but after the show she had trouble holding back her tears. "I am going to take so much away," she says before pausing to regain her composure.

American Idol 2014 eliminated Kristen O'Conner tonight,February 27th. Tonight's elimination show, kicked off with a group performance from the contestants and a lot of other time-wasting nonsense. Then host ,Ryan Seacrest, finally got around to revealing that Ben Briley, Alex Preston, and Jena Irene were all safe this week, and Malaya Watson landed in the bottom 3. After a break, they brought last year's winner, Candice Glover, on to sing her songs, “Cried” and “Same Kinda Man.” After another break, Ryan revealed that Dexter Roberts, Majesty Rose, and Sam Woolf were safe this week, and Mk Nobilette landed in the bottom 3. At one point, judge Keith Urban, introduced a guy named ,Jake Bugg, on to sing a song. After all that, we finally got down to Ryan, revealing that the mega cute hottie, Kristen O'Connor, also landed in the bottom 3 to join Mk and Malaya. From there, Ryan revealed that Mk was safe,...

While "American Idol" Season 13 Rush Week was pretty brutal, the atmosphere during the show's Top 13 elimination show was still tense. Malaya Watson, Mk Nobilette and Kristen O'Connor were the first three singers sent to the bottom. Which one went home?
In the end, Kristen was sent packing. There is a save, which expires at Top 6 week, but clearly the judges weren't going to use it the very first week -- and they didn't. Here's how it went down:
The first group brought onstage to hear results was Malaya, Jena, Alex and Ben. While Ben, Alex and Jena were sent to safety, Malaya was sent to the first stool of doom. (That wasn't too shocking since her rendition of Bruno Mars' "Runaway Baby" was all over the place -- in a bad way.)
The second group included Mk, Sam, Majesty and Dexter. Ryan Seacrest sent Dexter, Majesty and Sam to safety,...

You know, I was a big Candice Glover fan last year. I was rooting for her almost from the beginning and I was pleased when she won. But when Ryan Seacrest mentioned during Wednesday's show that Candice Glover would be performing tonight, it took me way longer than it should have to remember who Candice Glover was. "American Idol" would also like you to forget that Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey were ever judges. Things were pretty tight after Wednesday's performances. I think Malaya Watson made the biggest mess of her song, but I don't think she's going home. I'm assuming that Ben Briley, one of my four favorites last night, is safe, so he's the guy in my picture. Everything else is up in the air, so click through for my full live-blog! 8:01 p.m. Et This is new! The "Idol" Group Lip-Synch is being done as a walk-and-sing through the "Idol" backstage.

The "American Idol" Top 13 likes each other. Like, a lot. Zap2it talked with the finalists backstage after their first performance show, and every single one of them at some point or another mentioned how much they love each other and love listening to each other sing.
Instead of sitting backstage prepping for their performances all night, the remaining singers all sit on comfy couches in an onstage lounge where they watch their competitors sing in front of the judges. While some might find that intimidating, literally all of them said how much they enjoyed it while speaking with Zap2it and a small group of reporters backstage after the show.

The exciting shows are finally here, "American Idol" fans. It's the Top 13 finalists, with a theme of "This Is Me." Could you vague that up for us, "Idol"? That is akin to my all-time favorite theme, the Season 6 episode that was like "Songs Gwen Stefani Has Heard Of (Maybe)."
Just as an Fyi, we're not going to recap all the video package shenanigans. Let's get down to business with the performances.
1. Dexter Roberts, "Aw Naw," Chris Young
Terrible song choice. This is a song trying to so hard to be a dirt-kickin' country rock number, but Dexter does not have the swagger to pull that off yet. He's just standing there. His voice isn't bad, but there are a few bum notes and the entire performance lacks energy. He'll stick around, I'm fairly sure, but he's going to have to step that up.

Season 13's Top 13 all performed a song that fit the "This Is Me" theme, hoping to impress judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. While some definitely impressed and even surprised us, others, including a fan favorite, definitely fell short of the high bar the Fox reality hit has set this year. Ben Briley, Caleb Johnson, Jessica Meuse, Mk Nobilette, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Dexter Roberts, Majesty Rose, Malaya Watson, Sam Woolf, Kristen O'Connor, Cj Harris and Jena Irene all took the stage on Wednesday night to belt it out for America's votes, and we're running down the best performances of...

If you've checked out my earlier post, you've already seen my interviews with the six guys in the "American Idol" Top 13. After the judges gave two of their Wild Card slots to women, though, the girls took a 7-to-6 advantage going into the Top 13, meaning that that all-female alliance should be able to Pagong the men. Wait. Wrong Wednesday reality show. Sorry. Anyway, last Thursday, I caught up with all of the Season 13 "Idol" finalists. Click through for interviews with the seven remaining women. Above, you'll see my interview with M.K. Nobilette, who discusses her rave reviews from the judges last week, as well as her frank discussion of her sexuality and her love of backwards baseball caps. Then, below, you've got Jessica Meuse, who talks about the way she was depicted in the "Idol" Hollywood Week episodes and what the Group Night experience taught her about pressure. video...

Harry Connick Jr. has only been on American Idol for half a season but he has already been booed more than his fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban combined.
"As a performer you really hope to not be booed but here it just shows that the audience is really engaged," Connick, 46, tells People.
And despite the negative critiques some of the contestants have received throughout the season, they remain positive about the jazz artist and his comments.

After a video recap of the last two nights of "American Idol," the show actually gets to some results fairly quickly.
Ryan Seacrest informs us that the ones who got through to the finals based on America's votes are Malaya Watson, Ben Briley, Emily Piriz, Alex Preston, Jessica Meuse, Dexter Roberts, Caleb Johnson, Majesty Rose, Mk Nobilette and Sam Woolf.

With the guys, the only one we missed was we thought Spencer Lloyd was a shoo-in in replace for Dexter Roberts, but we wanted Dexter to be a wild card pick, so it's cool that he got through on his own.
For the girls, Majesty Rose was the only one we missed. We thought Kristen O'Connor or Jena Irene might sneak in there.
The judges reveal that five of the 10 singers left will sing for the wild card spots:

When it comes to Thursday (February 20) night's "American Idol" results, I'm not confident on much. I know who I thought gave the best performances between the Top 15 Girls on Tuesday and the Top 15 Boys on Wednesday, but I don't know how America will respond. I'm using a picture of Mk Nobilette with my recap because I'm sure that even if America didn't love her, the judges will use a Wild Card for her. Beyond that? Well, let's see who makes the season's Top 13. Then I'm gonna go out and interview them. 7:58 p.m. Et. I don't know what format this episode will take, so I'll be playing it by ear. Hopefully things won't get sloppy. 8:00 p.m. We're starting my listing all 20 of the remaining contenders. That's a lot. And then? On to a recap of last night's performances from the guys. They weren't all great, but they...

Things started fairly well on Tuesday's "American Idol," with decent performances from Majesty Rose and Kristen O'Connor. Then, the decline began. By the end, the judges were overpraising the emotional-but-unremarkable Mk Nobilette and celebrating Malaya Watson's admirably personality-heavy performance just to make it seem like the night hadn't become a disaster. Has the pendulum swung back in favor of the "Idol" men? We'll find out on Wednesday night when 10 members of the Top 15 perform. I'm assuming that Ben Briley *has* to perform, otherwise the judges are telling America, "Yo. Thanks for voting. We don't really care." The question becomes...

There were new twists, familiar faces and loads of drama on American Idol Tuesday night, as the ladies kicked off the first of the live performance shows.
The new twists? In what was dubbed Rush Week, the judges reviewed tapes of the Top 15 Girls and picked the 10 that impressed them the most to perform, surprising the ladies one at a time.
The familiar faces? Randy Jackson, the "Dogfather" of Idol, was back to mentor the contestants, leading a sort of Rush Week "wisdom workshop" for the pledges, which included vocal coaching from former Idol contestants Adam Lambert and Chris Daughtry,...

"American Idol" Season 13 is finally starting the live shows with the Top 15 girls Tuesday (Feb. 18), though only 10 of them will get to perform, which doesn't seem very fair (and as it will turn out, is not fair because so many of them completely tank). They've been working hard in boot camp all week and now only some of them get to perform? Mean.
Before things kick off, Harry Connick Jr. says this is the most talented group since the first year. That's ... not a good comparison. Kelly Clarkson is awesome, but let's not get carried away that Season 1 is the pinnacle of talent for this show, Hcj.

American Idol returned on Wednesday with Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban narrowing down the field of talent to 30 – 15 boys and 15 girls.
'American Idol' Recap
Following the group round, the American Idol contestants got one last chance to sing before the judges. They had the option of choosing a song off a list and being accompanied by a live band or playing an original song. Aside from a select few, playing an original song proved to be a poor choice, as their song writing abilities didn’t match their singing talents.
Sam Woolf was an exception with his performance of his original song “I Tried,” which was inspired by the aftermath of his mom leaving his family behind. The heartfelt lyrics and his strong voice made him a shoe in for the top 15 guys. Jesse Meuse also sang an original song. Hers, called “Done,” was about an “idiot.

It's time for one of those filler episodes of "American Idol" -- the contestants remaining after Hollywood Week are made to take the longest elevator ride of their lives and then sit in the dreaded singular chair as the judges start the selection process on the Top 30.
At least when most singers either ride the elevator or are waiting for their judgment, we are treated to a performance from Hollywood that we may have not seen yet.
Highlights (and lowlights) include:
Emily Piriz singing and playing the piano on "Stars" by Grace Potter. Absolutely gorgeous. Thankfully, she is chosen for the Top 30.An original song by Spencer Lloyd is perhaps a misstep, but the judges still select him -- and of course they do, because he's a good singer and super attractive.Madelyn Patterson is the first person the show says goodbye to, which is too bad.
