Kevin Negandhi will continue to be a presence on ESPN. The anchor and studio host has signed a new multi-year contract with the network in which he’ll continue to host weekday SportsCenter, as well as Special Olympics and ABC’s coverage of college football and the NBA draft.
“I’m excited and honored to continue my career at ESPN, working with so many talented individuals,” said Negandhi.
Negandhi has been with ESPN since 2006. He is perhaps best known as co-host of ESPN’s weekday SportsCenter at 6 p.m. Et with Elle Duncan. During his time at ESPN he has also hosted the Rose Bowl Parade, NFL Live, Baseball Tonight, Outside the Lines, College Football Live and the Little League World Series. Kevin Negandhi may not be the most controversial sports host at ESPN — no one’s heard him slam executives on air or suggest he needs a higher salary — but he is making a name for himself as one of the show-iest. There may be no format or program that Negandhi cannot handle.
Yes, he is best known for co-anchoring the 6 p.m. edition of “Sports Center,” but Negandhi has also become an expected face during ESPN’s coverage of the Rose Bowl parade; the Special Olympics; the NBA Draft,; and college football games on Disney sibling ABC.
He may get the chance to try his hand at a few more things in months to come. ESPN has extended Negandhi’s contract so that he will celebrate more than 20 years at the Disney sports-media giant under his next term. “We’re very happy to have Kevin remaining with ESPN for years to come,...

Taylor Swift is no Yoko Ono, claims a prominent ESPN sportscaster.
Reacting to the chatter that has arrived as the Kansas City Chiefs are no longer dominating opponents, angry fans are pointing to Swift’s appearances at the Chiefs games as the cause of the team’s swoon.
Swift is, of course, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s girlfriend, and her presence is allegedly causing the team to lose focus, even though she’s watching in a box far above the field of play.
Skip Bayless, one of the more provocative Fox Sports sports personalities, led the mob against Swift as Kansas City fell to the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas Day, 20-14. The Chiefs have lost three out of their last four contests to now hold a 9–6 record, and the team’s frustration is building. Kelce added to the perception of being distracted when he threw his helmet on the sidelines during the game.

ESPN’s “SportsCenter” is rolling out two female-led takeovers beginning Thursday, with all-women anchors and behind-the-camera crew meant to highlight the network’s commitment to greater coverage of women’s sports.
The takeovers — the second of which will air Aug. 11 — will both air in the 11 p.m. Et installments of “SportsCenter” with Elle Duncan and Nicole Briscoe anchoring. The initiative comes in partnership with Disney Advertising and Ally Financial Inc. and will feature exclusive content as part of the multimillion-dollar sponsorship package announced by Ally and Disney earlier this year.
“At Disney, we prioritize amplifying women’s sports and collaborating with like-minded brands to tell diverse sports stories,” Deidra Maddock, VP of Disney advertising sports brand solutions, said in a statement. “This particular execution with Ally marks the first time that we’ve developed such a unique combination of tactics and solutions to elevate women in sports — and we’re...

Disney on Tuesday followed NBCUniversal and Fox in presenting its content slate to advertisers. Like them, it bet heavily on sports, news and reality personalities amid the WGA strike, which prompted street picketing outside New York’s Javits Center.
However, testing the patience of the attendees, Disney went double the length of the Monday presentations, with little attention to ABC’s strike-contingent, reality-heavy fall schedule unveiled earlier in the day.
Disney kicked off its upfront presentation in an expected fashion, with a flashy highlight reel that drove home the “magic” of the Mouse House. A brief voice over from Ellen Pompeo reminded the audience that “when the imagination is limitless, life’s possibilities are endless,” as they settled in for the lengthy two-hour presentation. Here were the highlights:

Disney’s LGBTQ employees and their supporters are rallying virtually and in-person for a full day of solidarity actions to call attention to the company’s response to Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
A group of about 75 Disney employees gathered Tuesday morning at the Bette Davis Picnic Area, down the street from Disney’s Burbank studio, where they held signs and chanted “Disney say gay! We won’t go away!” and “We are queer! We are here!”
Several of the protesters said their supervisors had been generally supportive of the walkout. A lot of meetings had been rescheduled to accommodate the walkout.
At the rally in the park, several employees said it was important for the company to stop funding Florida legislators who supported the bill that prohibits instruction around gender identity and sexual orientation. But several also expressed concern that Disney been has transferring workers from California to Florida.

Kobe Bryant didn't need a son to carry out his legacy: He had his four daughters. In the wake of the NBA legend's tragic and shocking death in Jan. 2020, friends and fans shared emotional memories about one of the greatest athletes of our time. But perhaps the stories that still stand out the most are those about his love for his girls Natalia, 19, Bianka, 5, Capri, 2, and 13-year-old Gianna (or Gigi), who died alongside her dad in that fatal helicopter crash. After all, parenthood was his favorite role, a fact he proved during his one and only meeting with SportsCenter anchor Elle Duncan. Backstage at an ESPN event...

But when Duncan appears to co-anchor the 6 p.m. “SportsCenter” broadcast with Kevin Negandhi, fans want to see something new. Alas, the night’s games have yet to start.

Disney’s upfront kicked off with a glitch.
Client and Brand Solutions EVP Lisa Valentino was just starting her portion of the advertising section of the House of Mouse’s upfront’s digital press conference this morning when the screen went blank. The outage occurred around 8:14 a.m. Pt.
Contacted by Deadline, Disney said that the problem was fixed quickly. However, for many journalists watching from home on their laptops and tablets, there was nothing.
The presser came back at about 8:26 a.m. Pt, with Valentino in mid-sentence promising that the media giant would “double down.”
Hosting the digital presser with ad execs Valentino, Rita Ferro and Adam Monaco, ESPN’s Elle Duncan joked: “Thank you for sticking with us with what looked technical difficulties, but Adam just wanted his nose powered.”
Good save. The pre-upfront press conference continues.

Former ESPN chief John Skipper and Dan Le Batard, the former host of ESPN network’s “Highly Questionable,” are teaming up to launch a new sports-focused content company.
Skipper, who resigned from ESPN in 2017, would remain in his current position as executive chair of Dazn Group but shift focus to daily oversight of the new company, according to the Miami Herald, which suggested that Kevin Mayer, a former high-ranking Disney exec who now is an adviser to Dazn parent company Access Industries, might take over his responsibilities at Dazn.
According to Sports Business Journal, Skipper and Le Batard’s are looking to sell Le Batard’s new podcast, which he launched after his recent ESPN exit, and hire a staff to create sports-focused editorial content for their company, with the expectation that the scope of content could branch out into other topics besides sports.
