‘Quicksand’s Flx Gets New CEO
Joshua Mehr has been named CEO of Flx, the Swedish producer behind Netflix’s series Quicksand. Pontus Edgren, who part-owns the company alongside founder and Creative Director Felix Herngren and majority shareholder Sf Studios, is stepping down as CEO. According to a press release, Edgren has chosen to leave “on his own initiative” and has been “in dialogue with Flx’s owners for some time to ensure a smooth succession.” Mehr has been with the company as Head of Business Affairs since 2015 and is stepping up to the CEO post with “an extremely good understanding of the industry and Flx in particular,” said Iréne Lindblat, CEO off Sf Studios and Chair of the Flx board. Exclusive: Food Network has cooked up its latest Hot List – identifying the food personalities up-and-coming culinary “rock stars” in the content space.
It marks the second list for the Warner Bros. Discovery cable network after publishing its inaugural list in December 2021.
The company said that this year’s list includes a self-described ‘potato queen’, a self-designated ‘kitchen witch,’, restaurateurs and restaurant incubators.
The list includes Serving The Hamptons star Brogan Wu; chef, restaurateur and entrepreneur Esther Choi, chef and culinary manager Fariyal Abdullahi, chef and adventure seeker Gabriele Bertaccini, chef and restaurateur, Julian Rodarte, Michelin-trained chef and social media personality Poppy O’Toole, pastry chef and social justice activist Paola Velez, restaurateur and community activist Jeremy McBryde and chef, restaurateur and Tournament of Champions competitor Shota Nakajima.
The list will be rolled out on Food Network’s social platforms next week.

The Discovery-backed cable network has launched the list to highlight the top food stars to look out for next year.
All twelve of the rising stars on the list will feature in the network’s digital special Food Stars to Watch in 2022 and you can image the network is looking to work with some of them in other capacities over the next twelve months.
The list will start rolling out across social media from Monday December 20.
