During what is expected to be the worst weekend for theatrical ticket sales so far this year, Expendables 4 landed $8.3 million in its opening weekend, representing the worst opening for a film in the Jason Statham-fronted franchise. It was narrowly bested by The Nun II, which continues its reign at the September box office.
The Lionsgate and Millennium’s Expendables 4, which was financed by Millennium, played at 3,400 theaters and was estimated to earn in the $15 million range heading into the weekend before dropping off.
It’s the first entry in the franchise in nearly a decade, after 2014’s The Expendables 3. That film grossed $15.8 million in its opening weekend and went on to earn a total of $214 million at the global box office. The 2010 franchise starter opened with $35 million and 2014 opened with $28 million. The first three Expendables outings have collectively grossed an impressive $800 million at the global box office.

It's almost time to see your favorite action stars from across the decades team up to fight the bad guys again in "Expend4bles." The first two films -- 2010's "The Expendables" and 2012's "The Expendables 2" -- were action packed with some wild violence. Of course, they were rated R for some juicy and intense action scenes. However, the last film, 2014's "The Expendables 3," softened up the whole thing with a PG-13 rating, which left a lot of fans disappointed. The new film will be full R. Violence is back, baby! Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture return to their franchise roles, with Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, and Andy García joining the cast.

Lionsgate and Millenium’s Expendables 4 has hit theaters with $3.2 million in Friday grosses as the movie heads for a franchise-low opening. Friday’s tally includes $750,000 in Thursday evening previews.
The $100 million budgeted film, financed by Millenium, had been looking to open in the $15 million range, with some estimates on the high end placing it closer to $17 million. But early returns, however, now show it coming in around $8 million. The Nun II could even beat it.
Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham return to the blow-em-up franchise, along with alumni Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. The official synopsis for the film reads: “The Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. They'll die when they're dead ... or when the franchise is, anyway. That time might not be too far away, as "The Expendables 4" (aka "Expend4bles") is on track for the worst opening weekend of the franchise so far. The sequel grossed just $750,000 in Thursday previews, which is less than "The Expendables 3" managed all the way back in 2014 -- and that movie was a box office disappointment by the end of its run.
As reported by Variety, things didn't get much better from there, with "Expendables 4" managing an opening day total of just $3.2 million including those Thursday ticket sales. Per Deadline, the movie is now in a close race with "The Nun II" for the weekend No. 1 spot, with both movies looking at an estimated $8 million total for the weekend. That's a good result for "The Nun II," showing stronger legs than the first movie despite a smaller start.

Sequels, and sequels of sequels, have trouble differentiating themselves from their brethren from time to time. But Expendables 4, indisputably takes the cake for recycling previously used material in a not exactly fresh context. At least the final third — and maybe more — of this jokey, fight-filled and increasingly effects-driven last hurrah is nearly a twin brother to the climactic stretch of last month’s waterlogged Jason Statham extravaganza Meg 2: The Trench, wherein the rugged Brit takes on — and once again prevails over — a sea monster that makes Moby Dick look like a backyard swimming pool pet. It really is a shameless “borrowing” that’s impossible to ignore if you’ve seen Meg 2, as the tireless former male model with perfectly maintained facial stubble once again earns his status as master of the seven seas.

Review: Millennium Media has taken nine years to develop a fourth entry into the Expendables series. Things have changed in the near-decade since the last movie, which is reflected in the fact that this series instalment is much smaller scale than the ones that came before it. It’s primarily a spin-off entry for Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas, with the titular Expendables only supporting our hero on a personal mission, with Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross contributing little more than a cameo.
While that’s undeniably disappointing, Expend4bles is still a fun enough action flick if you keep your expectations in check. The budget seems much smaller than it was for the previous films, with abysmal CGI. Most of the action is confined to a cargo ship, as the Expendables...

A title that started ironically has now become all too accurate when it comes to the belated fourth installment of Sylvester Stallone’s action franchise. Arriving a full nine years after the poorly received prior entry, Expend4bles — the number is in the middle of the word, get it? — represents a nadir for a series that began as an entertainingly nostalgic throwback to old-school action movies and the square-jawed muscle men who starred in them. This edition — essentially a sub-par Jason Statham vehicle (after this and Meg 2: The Trench, some quality control might be in order for the actor) featuring a brief appearance by Stallone and several new castmembers who fail to make much of an impression — indicates that it’s time to put a fork in the series; it’s done.

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and their band of badasses infiltrate theaters this weekend with Expend4bles, and predictions for the action film’s weekend box office have arrived! According to analysts, the Millennium Media and Lionsgate thrill ride could earn between $15 million-$17 million during opening weekend.
The predicted total puts the latest film in the Expendables saga close to Expendables 3, which opened in 2014 with $15.8 million. Males over 25 generate the most tickets for action films starring ’80s icons and celebrated martial artists like Iko Uwais and Tony Jaa. It’s worth noting that Expend4bles heads to 700 Plf screens this weekend, including Xd, Rpx, Dolby, and D Box. The film’s availability on high-profile screens and the hard R rating could boost its popularity throughout its debut.
Deadline’s report says Expend4bles cost roughly $100M to produce, with Millenium banking on the worldwide rollout helping to amass the most dollars. Expendables 3...

On another sleepy autumn weekend at the box office when actors can’t promote their movies due to the strikes, Millennium Media and Lionsgate are rolling out the latest in their long-in-the-tooth Sylvester Stallone-Jason Statham franchise, Expendables 4, to a weekend take between $15 million-$17 million.
That range is right around where 2014’s Expendables 3 opened –$15.8M– and not far from where Stallone’s last Rambo film resided pre-pandemic, 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood, which bowed to $18.8M. Expendables 3 ended its stateside run at $39.3M while Rambo: Last Blood finaled at $44.8M.
Guys over 25 are the grab with the fourth movie about over-the-hill action heroes booked in 3,400 theaters. The R-rated movie is also playing at 700 Plf screens including Xd, Rpx, Dolby and D Box. Previews start at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The fourth chapter of the Expendables franchise, Expend4bles, is converging on the top spot at the box office in China after the weekend. Details from the consultancy firm Artisan Gateway say Expedend4bles earned $10.9M during its debut. While the sequel fails to include a Chinese star, it features Jason Statham, whose films typically perform well in the territory.
Expend4bles narrowly edged Dust to Dust out of the top spot, which snagged $10.6M after its second week in cinemas. After ten days of release, Dust encountered a 52% week-on-week decline but managed a $44.2M total.
Expend4bles could open with a bigger bang in North American territories, where Stallone, Statham, and the rest of the action superstar crew cater to fans of explosive action cinema.
Here’s the official synopsis for The Expend4bles:

Refresh for latest…: Warner Bros/New Line’s The Nun II continued to conjure strong business around the globe this weekend, taking the top spot again worldwide and overseas. The sophomore session of $30.1M in 72 offshore markets brings the international box office cume to $102.3M and worldwide to $158.8M so far.
More on The Nun II in a bit, but first let’s check in on Hercule Poirot and 20th Century Studios/Disney’s A Haunting in Venice which debuted to $37.2M globally, including $22.7M from 51 overseas markets. There were No. 1s in the UK, Spain and Italy, and No. 2s in France, Germany and Brazil among the key markets.

"The Expendables" franchise has — smartly — allowed its titular roster of tough, never-say-die mercenaries to include women, as demonstrated by 2014's "The Expendables 3" adding Ronda Rousey to the crew and the upcoming "Expend4bles" (type that five times fast) bringing in Megan Fox and Levy Tran.
However, while making the first "Expendables" back in 2010, that wasn't quite the case. That film only features two female characters: Lacy (Charisma Carpenter), the cheating girlfriend of Jason Statham's Lee Christmas, and Sandra (Giselle Itié), the daughter of a South American dictator who wants to use the Expendables to help overthrow her father and his ex-CIA puppet master, Munroe (Eric Roberts).
Although Sandra is an integral part of the film, she's no trained mercenary, and ends up being captured by the bad guys and tortured for information. It must've been difficult for the Brazilian actress to deal with the atmosphere of testosterone-fueled competition surrounding her,...

‘Expendables 4’ Trailer Plays Up the Strong Bloody Violence That Makes the Franchise Rated “R” Again
The first two movies in The Expendables franchise were released into theaters with “R” ratings, but oddly enough, The Expendables 3 came along in 2014 with a PG-13 rating.
Lionsgate isn’t making that mistake again, and this week’s official Red Band trailer for The Expendables 4 promises that the franchise’s return is Definitely a rated “R” affair.
In fact, the entire marketing gimmick for the movie is that it’s rated “R” and bloody-as-hell, with the trailer humorously spotlighting tweets from fans who were begging for it.
The Expendables 4 has been rated “R” by the MPA for “Strong/bloody violence throughout, language, and sexual material,” all of which is on display in today’s official trailer.
Preview the ultra-violence of Expendables 4 by watching the Red Band trailer below.

"Enjoy the show!!" Lionsgate has dropped off a second official trailer for Expend4bles, also known as The Expendables 4, arriving in theaters nationwide this September. They're not delaying this one. It's a full-on red band trailer packed with violence and blood galore, as they are promoting this as *another* R-rated Expendables movie. It still looks as dumb as all the others before it. New actions stars join all the old action stars in this latest explosively violent action extravaganza. The last one, The Expendables 3, opened in 2014 - almost 10 years ago. In this one, The Expendables have to rescue a ship carrying nuclear cargo (looks like they barley get away based on the one shot in this). Starring Jason Statham, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren (with his tongue flying out in this trailer), Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, with Andy Garcia, and the "Og" Expendable,...

Then rising action star Jason Statham played the right-hand man to Stallone’s Barney Ross, Lee Christmas. Statham gets promoted to the star in this entry, although Stallone will still make an appearance. Lionsgate has just released the newest trailer for the franchise that celebrates the action movies of old.

While critics may not love them, audiences love the adventures of Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross, Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas, and the rest of the gang. The Expendables 4 (which is actually called Expend4bles) recently got it’s first full, official trailer (embedded above), which is pretty last minute considering the movie is set for a September 22, 2023 release date. Given how soon it’s coming out, we figured it’s time to try to assemble everything we know about the fourth movie in the Expendables series.
The Release Date
The fourth film, created and produced by Millennium Media and Campbell Grobman Films, as well as being distributed by Lionsgate, has been through quite a bit of development hell over the past decade. The Expendables 4 trailer was released a while ago and here ate the details we have found. Do you remember the Expendables film? Sylvester Stallone is the main leading star of the film.
The film has done very well on the big screen. And that is the reason why the movies have been pretty famous. The Expendables series has been one of the most successful action films in the Hollywood industry.
Expendables films have done very well on the big screen. This is the reason why the film franchise has three parts as of now. And seems like the makers have much more in their pockets as they have made another part of Expendables.
Yes, you read it right. After nine full years, Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross is going to lead the team of Expendables once again. The movie that is going to be released in September 2023 has released its trailer very recently.

The official trailer for Expendables 4, written as Expend4bles – looks great in print, sounds weird if you say it as it’s spelled – shows Jason Statham and Megan Fox getting physical while the tagline declares: “Some relationships are built to last and some relationships are…Expendable.” The two-minute trailer then shows action fans a montage of select members of the ensemble cast, including Sylvester Stallone, Curtis 50 Cent Jackson, Dolph Lundgren, and Andy Garcia.
Directed by Scott Waugh, the fourth film of the action franchise also stars Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, and Levy Tran.

The first trailer for The Expendables 4 sees franchise stalwarts Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham teaming up with a cast of series newcomers like 50 Cent and Megan Fox.

In between quick cuts of an armada of heavy machinery and firearms, the trailer includes Statham and Fox battling it out in their apartment and Stallone flipping an assailant over a bar.
Returning to the franchise along with Stallone and Statham are Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture, joined by a new generation of Expendables including Fox, 50 Cent, Garcia, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio and Levy Tran.

After unveiling a new title and poster for the fourth film in the action-packed Expendables franchise, The Expend4bles trailer is here to turn up the heat and blow your socks off with brutal combat, explosions, and new members of an elite team of badasses.
In The Expend4bles trailer, Jason Statham’s Lee Christmas reunites with Megan Fox’s character, who is as lethal and clever as any Expendable we’ve encountered throughout the series. After a quick tumble and some bedroom gymnastics, Sylvester Stallone’s Barney Ross informs Christmas it’s time to gear up and rejoin the team for another mission. During a debrief, the Expendables learn a group of terrorists has taken possession of nuclear missiles on a cargo ship off the coast. If the weapons detonate, the aftermath will trigger World War III.

Megan Fox is the newest mercenary joining Sylvester Stallone to stop nuclear armed terrorists aboard a cargo ship in the first trailer to “The Expendables 4” trailer (aka “EXPEND4BLES”). The ensemble action film opens in theaters on Sept. 22.
Along with Fox, a new generation of stars join the world’s top action stars for an adrenaline-fueled adventure in “EXPEND4BLES.” Reuniting as the team of elite mercenaries, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture and Stallone are joined for the first time by Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran and Andy Garcia.
Armed with every weapon they can get their hands on and the skills to use them, the Expendables are the world’s last line of defense and the team that gets called when all other options are off the table. But new team members with new styles and tactics are going to give “new blood” a whole new meaning.

"It's time to get loud!" Lionsgate has launched the first official trailer for action sequel Expend4bles, also known as The Expendables 4, arriving in theaters nationwide this September. Yes, they really decided to call this Expend4bles, which is a joke title but it actually works because these movies are supposed to be fun. New actions stars join all the old action stars in this latest explosively violent action extravaganza. The last one, The Expendables 3, opened in 2014 - almost 10 years ago. In this one, The Expendables have to rescue a ship carrying nuclear cargo. Starring Jason Statham, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Randy Couture, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, with Andy Garcia, and the "Og" Expendable, Sylvester Stallone. C'mon folks, this looks so dumb, but I guess that's the point...? I didn't even watch the other sequels - they all looked so bad, just like this does.

Lionsgate has just dated three theatrical release for next year: the Sebastian Maniscalco inspired biopic About My Father starring the comedian and Robert De Niro for Memorial Day weekend May 26; the untitled Adele Lim comedy on June 23 and Expendables 4 for Sept. 22.
About My Father will open up against Disney’s The Little Mermaid on the 4-day holiday weekend next year. Lionsgate showed off the trailer to great laughs at CinemaCon, plus as an added bonus had Maniscalco host their entire session at Caesar’s Palace Colosseum Theatre. The pic centers around Sebastian (Maniscalco) who is encouraged by his fiancée (Leslie Bibb) to bring his immigrant hairdresser father Salvo (De Niro) to a weekend get-together with her super-rich and exceedingly eccentric family. The weekend develops into what can only be described as a culture clash, leaving Sebastian and Salvo to discover that...
