What happens when a Crown Prince walks into a bar — and the bouncer demands to see his ID?
The unlikely scenario recently unspooled at the Jade Buddha Bar in Brisbane, Australia, when security detail for Denmark’s Crown Prince Frederik, 49, were turned away because they could not produce the prince’s required identification documents. The prince returned 15 minutes later with seven officers from Queensland Police’s Dignitary Protection Unit, who encouraged door staff to waive new local liquor licensing laws requiring venues to scan the IDs of all patrons entering after 10pm.

2017-05-16T13:52:25-07:00Live-Action (and Live) 'Little Mermaid' Musical Coming to ABC
ABC is reviving its dormant The Wonderful World of Disney brand and getting into the hot live-musical space at the same time. The network announced its fall schedule this morning which included this nugget: a two-hour special event, “The Wonderful World Of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live!,” on October 3 that will meld Disney’s animated classic “The Little Mermaid” with live musical performances in a live action/animation hybrid presentation.
The special, “The Wonderful World Of Disney: The Little Mermaid Live!,” will feature soon-to-be-unveiled “celebrity artists” to perform Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s songs from the 1989 film (the pair won two Oscars, for score and the song “Under The Sea,” and were nominated for “Kiss the Girl”). Little else is known, other than that they’re weaving together live and animated elements.

Time flies, doesn’t it? It seems like just yesterday I was watching Animaniacs Live, interviewing folks about Turtles and cartoons, seeing the latest in geek fashions, hanging out with American Gods, and chatting with the Kings of Con at Sdcc, not to mention chillin’ at Nerd HQ. And now suddenly it’s September, and I’ve since attended both the UK Discworld Convention and Dragon Con! Convention season: it really never stops, does it?
Despite my busy schedule, I don’t want to miss sharing any of the fantastic adventures I’ve been having with you; so first, let’s rewind to San Diego and reminisce about the summer party-party-parties, because they are a staple of Sdcc and deserve to be featured. Every year, I try to line up at least a couple of parties each night, because, let’s be frank, I just love a good party. (I...
