Animated feature, based on Michel Kichka’s autobiographical graphic novel, explores the legacy of genocide from a sideways angle
Adapted from Second Generation, an autobiographical graphic novel (perhaps the genre should be termed “autobiographic novel”?) by Michel Kichka, this animated feature explores the legacy of the Holocaust from a somewhat sideways angle. Kichka’s father Henri was a survivor of Auschwitz, but when the story starts in the late 1950s-early 1960s, Henri is a tamped-down, closed-off character who keeps the office, like his memories, locked up and unshared with his five children. In a pastel-coloured Belgian town, Michel is first met as an adolescent, voiced by Ilan Galkoff although narration by the older Michel (David Baddiel) comments on the action throughout. Barely aware of what happened during the war except that it was something bad dad doesn’t talk about, Michel and younger brother Charley (Skye Bennett) go to synagogue...

You’re not the only one getting a tad stir-crazy from the pandemic lockdown. Apparently, even the damned and divine have their issues.
The demon Crowley (David Tennant) and angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) from Amazon’s Good Omens have reunited for a quick telephone conversation that they shared with us on YouTube. The two friends, who are now accustomed to life on Earth as representatives of Heaven and Hell, are talking through their current pandemic situations in an audio-only clip, which was written by series co-creator Neil Gaiman.

Good Omens, which became one of Amazon Prime Video’s front-rank shows when it premiered last May, will continue on the streaming service if the executive team has any say in it.
“We’re lucky to have an ongoing relationship with Neil” Gaiman, the series co-creator, Amazon’s TV co-head Vernon Sanders said during Saturday’s TCA executive session. “We’re so excited about how Season 1 has done for us. The notion has come up about whether we can revisit that world. It’s in Neil’s hands now but we’d love to do it. We’re finding that it just takes a little time, perhaps, in the case of Neil. But whatever he wants to do, we’re interested in.”
Gaiman and late co-author Terry Pratchett’s 1990 book, Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch, was the basis of the show’s debut season.

Prior to the release of Amazon Prime’s Good Omens, star David Tennant revealed that the apocalyptic comedy-drama would feature the odd reference to Doctor Who, the show that made his name. Tennant isn’t the only Who alumni involved though, as showrunner Neil Gaiman and director Douglas McKinnon both previously worked on the series as well. It’s no wonder then that they decided to slip in a few easter eggs that’ll surely please any Whovians who tune in.
Now that Good Omens has been with us for a few days, we think we’ve picked up on most of the Who references to be found. The first appears to occur in episode 2 as Jack Whitehall’s Newton Pulsifer attends his disastrous first day at his new job while wearing a colorfully-striped tie. Fans will notice that it’s the same pattern as the Fourth Doctor’s iconic long scarf.

Amazon Studios had a plethora of news coming out of its Comic-Con panel, including numerous teaser trailers, casting news and release dates for some of its biggest and most anticipated shows.
Homecoming
Amazon released its first official trailer for its upcoming show, “Homecoming,” starring Julia Roberts. The trailer has a camera slowly panning through the inside of an expansive building, moving past empty furniture, flickering snack machines, a full kitchen and several hallways before settling on Roberts, who says to someone off screen: “Shall we get started?” She then clicks on a recorder.
Based on the popular podcast of the same name, “Homecoming” is a psychological thriller directed by Sam Esmail (creator of “Mr. Robot”) and from scribes Micah Bloomberg and Eli Horowitz. Heidi Bergman (Roberts) is a caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a Geist Group facility helping soldiers transition back to civilian life. Walter Cruz (Stephan James) is one of these soldiers,...
