Perhaps you've watched the 1983 film "A Christmas Story" over and over again. It would be no surprise. It's often on a loop on Christmas Day. Heck, it might have been on enough in the background of your holiday celebrations that you've seen it more than "Star Wars." From the leg lamp that graces so many of our windows around the holidays, to the terrifying store Santa Claus, to saying, "You'll shoot your eye out" in reference to a rather dangerous Christmas toy, you've definitely heard of it. Today we have a new trailer for the sequel from Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO Max, "A Christmas Story Christmas," a name that could be a theme for many of our actual Christmases.
(Let's not dwell on the fact that there were a few other sequels, including "My Summer Story" in 1994, or the direct-to-dvd sequel that takes place six years after the original...

One of the most famous Christmas films of all time is getting a sequel. HBO Max released the first teaser for “A Christmas Story Christmas,” set to release on the streamer November 17.
The repetitively titled film is a sequel to 1983’s “A Christmas Story,” directed by Bob Clark and based on Jean Shepard’s 1966 novel “In God We Trust: All Others Pay Cash.” Set in the ’40s, the original film starred Peter Billingsley as Ralphie Parker, an ordinary 9-year-old boy engaging in various hijinks around Christmastime while desperately yearning to get a Bb gun for the big holiday. Shepard narrated the film as an adult Ralphie reminiscing about his childhood. The film was a moderate success during its original theatrical run, grossing about 69 million against a 3 million budget, but became a seasonal classic thanks to repeated television airings, and receives annual 24-hour marathons on cable channels such as TNT and TBS.

Legendary Entertainment acquired the rights to The Toxic Avenger a few years back, with plans for a reboot of the horror-comedy property having been on the cards for a while now. Unfortunately, however, movement on the project has been slow.
It snagged a director last year, though, in the form of Macon Blair, while we also know that it’ll be produced by Troma Entertainment founders Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, with Legendary’s Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter on board as well to help bring the project out of development hell and into theaters. And now, the film has finally found its star.
According to Deadline, Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage will headline the reboot, which is being described as “a contemporary reimagining of Troma Entertainment’s successful 1984 low-budget action comedy hit.” He’s the first and only cast member to board the movie, but with an actor of his caliber now involved,...

Variety reports that Macon Blair will write and direct a reboot of the cult classic Troma movie The Toxic Avenger for Legendary Entertainment, who acquired the feature film rights to The Toxic Avenger in late 2018.
Troma Entertainment's Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, who co-directed the original Toxic Avenger, will serve as executive producers on the reboot, with Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter supervising the project on behalf of Legendary.
Released in 1984, the original Toxic Avenger follows bullied janitor Melvin Ferd, who falls into toxic waste after being pursued by his tormentors, only to rise from certain death and transform into a disfigured defender of Tromaville. The film was followed by three sequels, a ’90s cartoon show, a stage musical, and a Marvel comic book series.

Two years after making his directorial debut with “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore,” Macon Blair is stepping behind the camera for Legendary’s “Toxic Avenger” reboot. The actor-turned-filmmaker, whose on-screen resume includes everything from “Blue Ruin” and “Green Room” to “The Florida Project” and “Logan Lucky,” will both write and direct. Variety first broke the news, including the fact that Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman and Michel Herz are producing and Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter of Legendary are overseeing the project.
The former two also directed the 1984 original, a midnight-movie staple that was followed by the sequels “The Toxic Avenger Part II,” “The Toxic Avenger Part III: The Last Temptation of Toxie,” and “Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger IV”. “The Toxic Avenger” tells the tried-and-true story of a 98-pound janitor who falls into a vat of toxic waste (as you do) and, imbued with newfound powers,...

Last December, it was reported that Legendary Entertainment had acquired the rights to The Toxic Avenger with plans for a reboot of the the horror-comedy property. And as per a new Variety report, it now seems that a writer and director has been found in one Macon Blair.
The star of Green Room might be better known for his acting career, but in 2017, Blair garnered strong reviews for his award-winning directorial feature debut I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore. The Toxic Avenger reboot, meanwhile, will be produced by Troma Entertainment founders Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz – who co-directed and co-produced the 1984 original – along with Legendary’s Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter.
While details on the reboot remain vague, the original Toxic Avenger told the knowingly ridiculous story of a mild-mannered janitor who developed superhuman size and strength after falling into a drum of toxic waste. The movie inspired three sequels,...

Just as there have been many spooky villains in Hammer movies over the years, there have also been many protagonists who protect our world from unholy horrors. Having appeared in several British serials and three movies, Professor Bernard Quatermass is one such hero, and Legendary and Hammer are teaming up with David Farr for a new movie featuring the classic character.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Farr, has "been tapped" to pen Quatermass, a new film for Legendary and Hammer. Produced by Simon Oakes of Hammer Films, the movie is viewed as a remake and will be supervised by Jon Silk and Jay Ashenfelter for Legendary.
Plot details are unknown at this time, but previous Quatermass serials and movies from the 1950s and ’60s often pitted Quatermass against extraterrestrial beings that threaten Earth, so perhaps we could see visitors from the stars paying the scientist a visit in the new film.

There's more good news: Hammer's Simon Oakes is producing. Oakes was behind Let Me In and The Woman in Black, also at Hammer. On writing duties for the new Quatermass film is David Farr, whose recent jobs include The Night Manager and Amazon's Hanna TV series. Jon Silk and Jay Ashenfelter will be overseeing production on the remake for Legendary Entertainment.
