Disney has finally announced the opening date for the upcoming ‘Splash Mountain’ retheme, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.” The date was announced in a press release this morning, and they took down and then re-announced on American Idol.
The opening date is June 28, 2024.
This is later than I was expecting. Early estimates placed it around June 10 or even Juneteenth, but the official date will be the end of the month on June 28 at Walt Disney World and later this year at Disneyland.
Here is the official press release from Disney:
“Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – “Drop on in” with Princess Tiana this summer, as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort on June 28!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure invites guests to join beloved characters Princess Tiana, Mama Odie, Louis, and all-new friends on a thrilling adventure, all set against the music and excitement of a New Orleans celebration.

Maroon 5 will return to Dolby Live at Park MGM this year for another Las Vegas residency.
Their residency is set to begin in May and end in October, with only a few summer dates scheduled.
Last December, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine spoke to Howard Stern on the Howard Stern Show and talked about how the son of singer Graham Nash, Jackson, helped the pop rock band make its name.
“He put us in with some amazing people and helped me make a demo, and that demo wound up being the demo that got us our second record deal. He was hugely integral in us getting a kind of second chance because we wouldn’t have had any money to make the demo, we got signed off of so that was huge,” Levine said. “I will always be eternally grateful to [Graham].”

The 2024 Grammys aired on February 4, and as usual, I have some thoughts. For passionate awards pundits, the Grammys are often best enjoyed afterwards, when you can analyze the results properly and theorize about what they might be telling us about the voting process, the Recording Academy and the music industry as a whole. Here are my five main takeaways.
SEEGrammy winners list in all 94 categories
Pop voters have refined taste
Listen, I don’t wanna dunk on any artist or song, but Taylor Swift’s remix of “Karma” featuring Ice Spice is just not that good, with some simply feeling like the added verse was out of place. Regardless, the track was predicted to win the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, mostly due to the fact that the original version topped pop radio and all the other nominees were deep cuts and/or album tracks.

In 2023 Gold Derby’s racetrack odds missed every general field category — surprises abounded! But this year our odds were spot-on in all four of those races, with Album of the Year going to Taylor Swift (“Midnights”), Record of the Year going to Miley Cyrus (“Flowers”), Song of the Year going to Billie Eilish (“What Was I Made For?”) and Best New Artist going to Victoria Monet. Still, there were 15 categories out of the 37 we were predicting where most of our users were expecting a different result. Did you see these outcomes coming?

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance: “Ghost in the Machine” by Sza feat. Phoebe Bridgers
In recent years this award has gone to the biggest hit nominated. This year that was “Karma” by Taylor Swift and Ice Spice. And since Swift was also the front-runner for Album of the Year, we figured she’d take this too.

After throwing a temper tantrum, Chris Brown is backtracking on a series of comments he made following the 2023 Grammys.
The 33-year-old singer was up for an award in the best R&b album category and lost to pianist Robert Glasper, reports People magazine.
While other nominees in the category included Pj Morton, Mary J. Blige and Lucky Daye, Brown openly voiced his frustration after losing the award by verbally attacking Glasper in a series of posts shared to his Instagram Story.
After Glasper’s 2022 album Black Radio III took home the prize, he began expressing his feelings by writing on his story “Yall Playing Who Da F-k Is This?” against a screenshot where Glasper was announced as the winner.
People further states that in screenshots captured by The Shade Room, Brown continued: “I’m going to keep kicking a- respectfully” before writing in white letters against a plain black background.

Chris Brown reportedly threw a tantrum after losing out on the Best R&b Album Grammy to pianist Robert Glasper.
The ceremony was held at the Crypto.com arena in Los Angeles on Sunday (5 February), with Trevor Noah returning to host the show for the third consecutive year.
Brown, 33, was nominated in the R&b category for his 10th studio album Breezy, featuring collaborations with Jack Harlow, H.E.R., and Anderson. Paak.
However, Glasper ultimately won the prize for his record Black Radio III.
Brown reportedly reacted to losing the award in a series of since-deleted Instagram Stories.
“Who the f*** is Robert Glasper,” he allegedly wrote, as seen in screenshots posted to Twitter by HipHopDX.
“Ima keep kicking y’all a** respectfully,” Brown reportedly added.
“I gotta get my skills up...Ima start playing the harmonica,” the rapper apparently also said, sharing a photoshopped picture of himself playing the instrument.

The R&b field is one of my favorites every year at the Grammys. More often than not the winners tend to reflect passionate choices, regardless of chart positions or name recognition, truly awarding the best of the R&b world. Let’s take a look at the album categories this year, and who’s out front for the awards.
SEEHow hard is it to complete your Egot with a Grammy? Best R&b Album
It seems like Mary J. Blige will take home her 10th Grammy — and her third for an album — with her record “Good Morning Gorgeous (Deluxe).” This year marks one of Blige’s biggest Grammy nomination hauls: she earned six including across-the-board R&b bids, as well as Album of the Year. “Good Morning Gorgeous” was also a big return for Blige, aided by her acclaimed Super Bowl slot, for which she won an Emmy a few months ago.

The 2022 Grammy Awards broadcast wrapped up with an upset victory of sorts, with Jon Batiste beating out the likes of Taylor Swift and Kanye west to take home Album of the Year for his excellent “We Are.”
That was his fifth win of the night, following four wins during the “Premiere Ceremony,” where all of the awards not deemed cool enough for television were handed out, hosted by the always wonderful Levar Burton.
Batiste also accomplished a rather ignominious milestone for the Grammy Awards themselves: He’s the first Black artist to win Album of the Year since Herbie Hancock back in 2008. You read that right: It’s literally been 14 years and 3 presidents since the Academy recognized the work of Black artists with this honor. And in case you’re wondering, the only nonwhite artist to win Best Album during that time was Bruno Mars in 2018.

When looking at Grammy nominations for 2022, you might notice that there are a few cover songs nominated. As per Grammy rules, a cover can only be submitted in a performance category or in an arrangement category; they’re not eligible for songwriting since they were written in a previous eligibility period, or sometimes before the Grammys were even created. This year I think three covers seem to be in a good position to win: Jason Isbell’s “All I Do is Drive,” Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s “I Get a Kick Out of You,” and Chris Cornell’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” But just how common is it for covers to prevail?
Country is one of the fields with the most covers winning. A few of the most recent wins have included “Gentle On My Mind” by The Band Perry (originally performed by John Hartford), “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker...

The 2022 Grammy R&b categories are full of impressive talent, including some of the expected hit-makers as well as some more under-the-radar soul standouts. But who will take home trophies on January 31? Let’s consider the performance and songwriting races.
SEE2022 Gold Derby Music Awards nominations list: Lil Nas X leads with 11 Best R&b Performance
Silk Sonic (“Leave the Door Open”) and Justin Bieber/Daniel Caesar/Giveon (“Peaches”) will likely duke it out for the win. Both songs are nominated for Record and Song of the Year, both were big number-one hits, and both have previous Grammy winners attached. Of the two, “Leave the Door Open” probably has the edge over “Peaches” as it is also nominated for Best R&b Song while “Peaches” missed there.
Still, “Peaches” shouldn’t be ruled out; Bieber over-performed in the nominations (he’s up for eight awards overall), showing strong support from the recording academy.
