The lengthy wait for All American Season 6 is almost over, but a shocking piece of casting news has dropped just days ahead of the premiere.
TVLine reports that Hunter Clowdus is officially out of the show after five seasons playing JJ Parker.
The official confirmation comes months after the actor hinted his time on the show was over in response to a fan on Instagram.
During the extended hiatus, fans wondered if Clowdus was leaving The CW football drama.
In response to a fan questioning his departure, the actor said that he didn’t want to walk away from the show.
“I wanted to give the fans that character proper closure,” he dished, adding that he “began to feel very unwelcome there and it was really taking a toll” on his mental health.

All American: Homecoming: Season Three; Several CW Series Regulars to Have Reduced Roles for 2023-24
In May, All American: Homecoming was renewed by The CW for a third season, but the renewal came with some concessions. The series faces budget cuts, so some series regulars will have reduced roles in the upcoming episodes.
All American: Homecoming is a spin-off of All American, which The CW also renewed for the 2023-24 broadcast season. The series follows students attending Bringston University, a highly competitive Hbcu (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) in Atlanta.
Deadline reports that Geffri Maya, Sylvester Powell, Netta Walker, and Mitchell Edwards will return as full series regulars for season three.
However, viewers will likely be seeing less of Cory Hardrict, Rhoyle Ivy King, Peyton Alex Smith, and Kelly Jenrette. Hardrict and Ivy have a reduced episode guarantee, so they'll most likely appear in fewer...

As budget cuts hit The CW's returning original programming, several stars will not be on the shows next season as series regulars.
All American: Homecoming is the latest show to announce its changes ahead of next season.
According to Deadline, Peyton Alex Smith, who plays Damon Sims on the series, will not be back as a series regular.
If you watch All American: Homecoming online, you know Damon has been pivotal since All American: Homecoming Season 1 Episode 1.
While casting changes were expected, it's surprising Smith is one of the actors to have their contract changed.
There's no confirmation whether the actor will stage a comeback in a recurring or guest capacity.
Time will tell, but hopefully, he will appear on-screen to wrap up Damon's storyline if the actor decides against accepting the contract.
Additionally, Kelly Jenrette, who plays Bringston University president Amara Patterson, will return as a recurring player.

The school year has officially come to a close at Bringston University, and, after a season of wavering between two suitors, Simone (Geffri Maya) finally made a decision about her love life during Monday’s Season 2 finale of All American: Homecoming.
Her choice will settle a love triangle that co-showrunners Nkechi Okoro Carroll and Marqui Jackson have been building since the end of Season 1. But audiences will have to wait to find out who Simone actually chooses, because Monday’s episode ends with Simone supposedly professing her love to either Damon (Peyton Alex Smith) or Lando (Martin Bobb-Semple)…but viewers don’t see who it is.
“The love triangle was absolutely built into the season. It’s the reason why we introduced Martin Bobb-Semple as Lando at the end of last season, to...

Six weeks have passed for the sporty bicoastal dramas as they kick off Season 5 of the football soap All American and Season 2 of the tennis- and baseball-focused spinoff Homecoming. In the first hour, Los Angeles–based college football star Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) throws a holiday party that brings in Homecoming’s tennis queen Simone Hicks (Geffri Maya), bestie Keisha McCalla (Netta Walker), and Spencer’s former nemesis Cam Watkins (Mitchell Edwards) from Atlanta for winter break. “Secret Santa assignments and a party takeover lead to hilarious [antics] and drama,” says exec producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll. The “All American” characters are in for some changes when The CW show premieres its fifth season Oct. 10, with a theme of “phoenix rising from the ashes,” showrunner and executive producer Nkechi Okoro Carroll told TheWrap as part of our Fall TV Preview.
But before we get into what’s ahead, let’s remind ourselves where we left off: When we last saw the “All American” crew, our favorite characters were experiencing the bittersweet growing pains and freedoms that came with being first-semester freshmen in college. Spencer (Daniel Ezra) and Liv (Samantha Logan), rock-solid in their long-gestating will-they-won’t-they relationship, were left at odds amid his budding athletic standing as a starting freshman and her goals as an investigative journalist looking to expose Golden Angels University head Coach Garrett’s (Sean Carrigan) seedy past.
But they weren’t the only ones experiencing change: Coop (Bre-z) was on the precipice of...

With the end of The CW's licensing deal with Netflix, All American: Homecoming was poised to head to HBO Max.
The series was initially set to premiere on the latter last month, but the series never materialized on the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned streamer.
Now, we have a definite answer about what's happening to the drama series.
According to What's On Netflix, All American: Homecoming has been added to the Netflix library, joining the parent series All American.
Since the conclusion of the Netflix streaming deal with The CW, no new CW shows have gone to Netflix.
Instead, shows like Katy Keene, Batwoman, and Nancy Drew all landed on HBO Max in an attempt to shore up the content roster on the relatively new streaming service.
The original All American performs very well for Netflix, so there was clearly an incentive in being the streaming home to the show.

Exclusive: We’ll be seeing more of Nathaniel Hardin in the second season of All American: Homecoming. Rhoyle Ivy King, who heavily recurred as the character in Season 1, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming season.
A spinoff of CW’s All American, written by Nkechi “Nk” Okoro, Season 2 will continue to delve into the lives of students and athletes at a distinguished Hbcu, and the struggles these young adults face while trying to find their footing.
King’s Nathaniel is the non-binary, gender-fluid personification of fly Af. When she auditioned actors for “All: American: Homecoming,” the college spinoff of The CW’s “All American,” series creator Nkechi Okoro Carroll only had a few lines for nonbinary character Nathaniel until Rhoyle Ivy King, who uses he/him/they pronouns, “murdered” the audition. Carroll quickly expanded the role and now Nathaniel appears in 10 out of 13 episodes of the drama, which premieres Monday on The CW.
The series stars Geffri Maya as Simone Hicks, a promising tennis star from Beverly Hills, whose new friends at fictional Hbcu Bringston University include Nathaniel (King) and Keisha (Netta Walker), both of whom are queer.
Carroll hadn’t set out to create the network’s first Black nonbinary character – The CW’s first nonbinary character was Evan Blake, played by Lincoln Clauss, on “Batwoman” – but now Nathaniel is one of her favorites.

When your job entails watching several new shows a week, overlapping themes are inevitable. Still, similarities between shows are rarely as stark as those between the first seasons of Netflix’s “Spinning Out” (out Jan. 2) and USA’s “Dare Me” (which premiered Dec. 20). Both dramas focus on teen girls as restless as they are talented, a combination that serves them well in their respective competitive sports — figure skating for “Spinning Out,” cheerleading for “Dare Me” — and have them scrambling to survive in their daily lives. Both examine motherhood, and how adults can blur the lines in their relationships to the teenagers in their care to devastating effect. Both are pulpy and propulsive as they set their bleeding hearts on a silver platter for the audience to eat up. And yet,
“Spinning Out,” from Samantha Stratton, follows a family of three women, each determined, stubborn, and skilled in her own way.

Blumhouse gave us a jump scare today as they announced that they will drop the Divide/Conquer-produced slasher film Thriller on Netflix on April 14. Following the surprise release of last week’s horror Mercy Black, this is the second time Blumhouse has surprised us with a release date for one of their films.

"Do you feel sorry about what you did?" The Orchard has debuted the official trailer for an indie drama titled Savage Youth, which premiered at the Slamdance Film Festival last year and stopped by a few other small festivals. The second feature from director Michael Curtis Johnson, Savage Youth is set in small town America following a group of young people. Based on a true story, six young lives collide in the most horrific and twisted of ways. Described as a "brutal examination of doomed youth exiled to society's edge." The film stars Grace Victoria Cox, Tequan Richmond, Will Brittain, Chloe Levine, Mitchell Edwards, J. Michael Trautmann, and Sasha Feldman. Looks like yet another forgettable kids-are-crazy indie flick. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Curtis Johnson's Savage Youth, direct from YouTube: The lives of six troubled teens in a racially-divided town take a violent turn when drugs and broken hearts intermix.
