"This thing is after me." Gravitas has debuted a trailer for an indie psycholigcal thriller called There is a Monster, set for VOD release later this month. It's the feature debut of a filmmaker named Mike Taylor, who wrote and produced as well. This hasn't played at any film festivals and is getting dumped in January. Here's the pitch: a man is haunted and hunted by a monster that only he can see. If this sounds familiar, it's because this kind of idea has been made plenty of times before, in so many better ways. The monster hovers over him as he sleeps, and it starts to affect him physically. More attacks occur and he blames the monster for his troubles. This is a religious propaganda film in which they even admit that the whole point is "about Preacher Brent Carson's commitment to God to spread the gospel and help all people migrating to the town of Red Springs Montana to find a home." A preacher comes to a small western town in the 1890s, settles in the outer lands near one of the biggest landowners in town and changes the whole landscape of the town.
