In the pantheon of famous internet cats, few stand as tall as Lil Bub. The perma-kitten with saucer-sized eyes and a tongue perpetually flopping from her mouth became a social media star in the 2010s, and she remains a cherished favorite two years after her death in 2019 at age eight.
Now, a new limited-edition coffee table book, Lil Bub: The Earth Years, will celebrate Bub’s legacy and impact. Bub’s owner, Mike Bridavsky, compiled the book, which will boast photos and biographical commentary alongside quotes from Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Black,...

Lil Bub, the adorably pint-sized and Insta-famous kitten, passed away on Sunday at age 8 after having long suffered from an aggressive bone infection, per her owner Mike Bridavsky. Bub passed peacefully in her sleep, Bridavsky wrote in an Instagram post on the cat's popular account, which has amassed 2.4 million followers.

They are the furriest of fashionistas, the sultans of sweet; they are the fabulous, famous pets of Instagram. Just as human influencers have become style touchstones for pet owners, these tail-wagging trendsetters are an inspiration to their fluffy brethren.
Since these pets go sans apparel most of the time, Halloween is an important holiday to take stock of each animal’s personal style, so you can get ideas for your own cat or dog.
While it might be too late to get these Halloween outfits for your pet in 2017, you now have 364 days to plan until next year. You’re welcome.

This month, Helen Woodward Animal Center will once again unite with animal welfare proponents and organizations worldwide for the 5th Annual Remember Me Thursday.
Honored on the fourth Thursday of September, the campaign asks pet lovers and animal rescue groups to create an unstoppable, integrated voice advocating for homeless pets to live in forever homes, not die waiting for them. Grassroots candle-lighting ceremonies and a global avalanche of social media buzz will shine a light on the millions of animals still awaiting adoption and encourage communities to opt to adopt and reduce the millions of homeless pets euthanized each year. As in previous years, some very big names are stepping forward to lend their support to the cause, including Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress, Kristin Chenoweth, who has been named the 2017 Official Spokesperson for the campaign. Helen Woodward Animal Center encourages the world to join with these philanthropic celebrities and...

Somewhere in the grind, it’s always good to remind yourself that you’re in Hollywood. (Yes, even if you live in the Valley. Still counts, okay?) Your locale means opportunities that just don’t pop up anywhere else, whether it’s checking out experimental films, chatting with Bryan Cranston, or petting an internet-famous cat. (All of which, by the way, you can do this week!) Sure, the hustle may have brought you here, but don’t neglect the many activities that will feed your spirit. Meet Heisenberg himself. In his memoir, Bryan Cranston discusses his long relationship with acting, beginning as a child in commercials. Of course, he also mentions a little thing called “Breaking Bad,” along with “Malcolm in the Middle,” and his Tony-winning turn as Lbj on Broadway in “All the Way.” Pick up a copy of Cranston’s memoir, “A Life in Parts” on August 10 in...

Sari's kittens in Ceyda Torun's KEDi, her sharp-eyed documentary on what it means to be a cat in present day Istanbul.
Cat people Michael Haneke, Haruki Murakami, Isabelle Huppert in Paul Verhoeven's Elle and Mia Hansen-Løve's Things To Come, and Emmanuel Bourdieu's Bébert in Louis-Ferdinand Céline, Kazuki Kitamura and Tamanojo in Takeshi Watanabe and Yoshitaka Yamaguchi's Samurai Cat (Neko zamurai), Robert De Niro favourite Lil Bub of Lil Bub & Friendz, and Sebastián Lelio when he spoke on Gloria, are the supporting cast in my conversation with Ceyda Torun at the Bowery Hotel in New York.
On following Sari - on her level: "It's all the nimble handiwork of Charlie Wuppermann, my cinematographer, and Alp Korfalı, who is a local, great cinematographer himself."

In many ways, it’s only natural that a film like Kedi should come along. The internet loves cats, of course. Even if the internet doesn’t necessarily deserve cats. And a documentary about cats is a no-brainer of a concept (we’ll pretend Lil Bub & Friendz doesn’t exist because it is terrible). The real surprise then isn’t that Kedi exists, but that it quietly subverts any lazy reading that people would no doubt all too easily assign to it. Yes, it is the movie about street cats of Istanbul, but that’s just a hook for audiences whose attentions are being torn this way and that. The truth is that Ceyda Torun’s elegant and enchanting Kedi is so much more.
Even if it was just about the cats – what cats they are! In what can only be described as a particularly unique set of casting, Torun...

Critics weren’t all that pleased with the family comedy “Nine Lives,” but it gained one surprising fan. “Blair Witch” screenwriter Simon Barrett thought the film was outstanding.
In an article for The Talkhouse, the writer penned a review after watching the movie and stated that “Nine Lives” is “the most important movie opening on this or any other weekend.”
Barrett began by describing the plot and the beginning of the film: “There are more complicated elements to this, but I don’t want to spoil them because everyone reading this should see this film at least once,” he wrote.
