- Sylvia Lancaster was a writer, known for Black Roses: The Killing of Sophie Lancaster (2015), A Town & Country Murder (2013) and Judge Rinder's Crime Stories (2016). She died on April 12, 2022 in Blackburn, Lancashire, England, UK.
- In August 2007, her daughter Sophie Lancaster and Sophie's boyfriend, Rob, were brutally attacked by a gang of teenage thugs in a park in Lancashire, England. The gang had targeted the couple because of their Goth appearance. Sophie suffered severe head injuries, went into a coma and died 13 days later. Sylvia, along with family and friends, set up a campaign in her daughter's name - Stamp Out Prejudice, Hatred and Intolerance Everywhere (S.O.P.H.I.E).
- She was awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2014 Queen's Birthday Honours List for her services to the Community Cohesion particularly reducing Hate Crime. She is the Founder of the Sophie Lancaster Foundation. She lives in Rossendale, Lancashire, England.
