Twas the weekend before Christmas, and all through the Ufc “house,” not a creature was stirring, not even Mighty Mouse. Except, of course, for the boatload of fighters heading down to Brazil for Ufc Fight Night 58, otherwise known as Ufc Fight Night: Machida vs. Dollaway. The event airs live Saturday from Barueri, Brazil, and will be the final Ufc event of 2014 (Ufc 182 airs January 3rd).
The Ufc entered December with a bang, and they’re looking to ride that high right into next month. Is Machida vs. Dollaway the event to do it with? On paper, maybe. It’s a bit of a mixed bag, and coming off a strong pair of events last weekend (The Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale, and Ufc on Fox 13), it probably can’t top the month’s earlier events. That said, there’s a strong main and co-main event here, and a couple of key fights.

Ufc 181 was the promotion’s biggest, and most successful, card since Ufc 175 back in the summer, which coincidentally also featured two title fights (Chris Weidman taking on Lyoto Machida, and Ronda Rousey meeting Alexis Davis). With welterweight champion Johny Hendricks vs. Robbie Lawler II as the main event, and lightweight champion Anthony Pettis vs. Gilbert Melendez as the co-main event, you already had serious star power.
Add in Travis Browne vs. Brendan Schaub, a returning Todd Duffee, and Urijah Faber on the preliminary card, and you had enough big names to generate some serious interest.

The Ufc Batamweight Champion was recently named as the new female face of the jeans brand, which is a clothing line from Buffalo David Bitton. The company will hope to benefit from her increasing commercial presence, now that she’s much more than just a fighter having starred in movies like The Expendables 3 and Furious 7.
They are sure to have caught instant attention after casting Rousey in a topless shot. The black and white photo of the fighter shows her just holding her breasts.
Funnily, a further shot has caused lots of controversy. The person who photoshopped it has made a big error and left Rousey with a seriously strange shoulder. The very fact that it has been photoshopped may be upsetting to Rousey, who has previously spoken out on women’s body image issues.

When you talk of the Greatest of All Time in Mma (the Goat), you have three options for the most part: Georges St. Pierre, recognized as the most dominant welterweight in Ufc history. Fedor Emelianenko, widely considered the greatest heavyweight of all time. And Anderson Silva, the greatest middleweight of all time.
Each option has its merits, but one thing is for certain: no fighter was as feared as Silva during his peak. “The Spider” had explosiveness that few could match, combined with pinpoint striking accuracy. Facing Anderson Silva was for many akin to a death sentence; their fate was certain, only the time at which it came was up in the air.
Though he has not won a fight since 2012, and was defeated twice in 2013 by now middleweight champion Chris Weidman, Anderson Silva remains the consensus greatest middleweight of all time. He continues...

According to a report in the Lodi News-Sentinel, Ufc fighter Nick Diaz was arrested earlier this month for a suspected DUI. The controversial fighter recently signed a new contract with the promotion, and is set to meet Anderson Silva in early 2015, marking Silva’s first fight back from a vicious leg break that occurred in his rematch with Middleweight champion Chris Weidman.
As this news is breaking, the Ufc has yet to comment, but according to the report, the incident took place on September 6th. He was also charged with obstructing a police officer, destruction of evidence and driving with a suspended license, according to police.
His arraignment will not take place until later this month, but this could potentially put the bout with Silva in jeopardy. How the Ufc will handle it is unclear; the allowed Thiago Silva to rejoin the promotion recently despite the Brazilian fighter having been...

Ufc
It has been a while since the Ufc had a Pay-per-View to offer fans – over a month in fact. Nearly two. The last Ufc PPV card was back at the start of July, Ufc 175 – a huge card that saw both Chris Weidman and Ronda Rousey defend their titles, against Lyoto Machida and Alexis Davis, respectively. That marked the biggest PPV show to date for the Ufc in 2014.
The drought that followed was unfortunately brought on by the last-minute cancellation of Ufc 176 due to an injury to featherweight champion Jose Aldo. That brings us to Ufc 177 – another extremely thin card relying, if we’re being honest, on a single fight: T.J. Dillashaw vs. Renan Barao 2.
Dillashaw shocked the Mma world back in May by dominating Barao from pillar to post over the course of five rounds, taking the title from a champion who had seemed unbeatable since arriving in the Ufc.

Well, the Ufc has finally done it: it has announced the return of Anderson Silva, in a fight that actually more or less qualifies as a super fight, to be held at Ufc 183 on January 31st, 2015. There, he will meet the ever controversial Nick Diaz in a fight that promises to be an explosive clash of striking styles, given that neither man is known for wrestling opponents.
As a result, it’s the volume punching of Diaz against the accuracy and agility of Silva in what will no doubt be one of, if not the, most anticipated bouts of the next half year or so.
Make no mistake: Diaz is a dangerous return fight for Silva, despite the Stockton fighter going up in weight to meet The Spider. You can rest assured that Silva won’t be clowning against Diaz, who will actually be one of the better names Silva...

Despite an out-of-competition drug test failure in February that Belfort admitted to just recently via an Instagram post, and despite a past Ped failure, the Nsac has, in its wisdom, granted the two-time offender a license to fight in the heart of Mma land, Nevada. The Nsac is considered the most influential, powerful athletic commission in North America (and likely the world), so this opens the door for Belfort to fight just about anywhere.
Immediately after the Nsac ruling, Belfort was announced in a fight with Chris Weidman at Ufc 181 in December, a card that already has lightweight champ Anthony Pettis taking on Gilbert Melendez.
Should they have gone this route, however? Should the Nsac have overlooked two past failures?
Let me preface this by saying that I love watching Belfort fight. He’s fantastic in the cage. His fights are always exciting.

After months of speculation, former Ufc Light Heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort has been granted a license by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
The rollercoaster situation began in February when Belfort, a well documented user of testosterone replacement therapy, failed a test for having elevated levels of testosterone. Though those results weren’t released until months later, the Nevada Athletic Commission banned the use of Trt within the state. Shortly after, the Ufc followed Nevada’s lead. Belfort had previously qualified for a therapeutic use exemption for Trt.
This ruling set off a horrible chain of events for the Ufc, as Belfort withdrew from his planned May fight with Chris Weidman, while Wanderlei Silva ran from a drug test altogether ahead of his fight with bitter rival Chael Sonnen. Belfort would then offer to face Sonnen, who would also fail two drug tests.

Doris the Deadite greets us atop the stairs leading to Planet Hollywood’s V3 Theater in Las Vegas. Wearing a blood-splotched white dress with a matching white hat nestled on her curly blonde hair, Doris smiles through the peeling gray skin of her face. Teeth bared, eyes darting from sunken sockets, Doris cackles and beckons us closer for a photo. Welcome to the immersive atmosphere of Evil Dead The Musical Ultimate 4D Experience.
A tasty slice of horror heaven from director/producer Sirc Michaels that’s based on Sam Raimi’s Evil Dead trilogy, as well as the book and lyrics of George Reinblatt, this Vegas production is packed with nods to its beloved source material, but also boasts buckets of blood-drenched originality.

What’s next for Ufc champs Chris Weidman and Ronda Rousey?
Ronda Rousey made short work of challenger Alexis Davis in the co-main event of Ufc 175, delivering her second Tko victory, and fastest win yet.
Chris Weidman engaged in a much closer battle with challenger and former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida, winning a unanimous decision when all was said and done.
Uriah Hall, meanwhile, won his bout fighting almost three full rounds with a broken toe.
The biggest card of the year thus far turned out to be a mixed bag of action outside those bouts, but there are a lot of matches to look at. One fight was kiboshed entirely, the Stefan Struve vs. Matt Mitrione heavyweight tilt, as Struve reportedly had a panic attack back stage that triggered heart palpitations. In an official statement released through the Ufc, Struve stated that...

Ufc 175 taught us some valuable lessons both inside and outside of the cage Saturday night.
Ufc 175 has come and gone. While there’s still Sunday’s Tuf 19 event, between Wsof 11 Saturday afternoon and Ufc 175 Saturday evening, there has been a whole hell of a lot of Mma already this weekend. Ufc 175 was to be the crown jewel of the Ufc’s summer output/first half of the year, and while it didn’t quite live up to expectations, it was an interesting card nonetheless.
So what have we learned? What did Ufc 175 give us?
The two main areas of focus from this event were Ronda Rousey and Chris Weidman – one a dominant champion facing one of the last remaining legit contenders available to her in the Ufc, the other a champion derided as being something of a fluke. Did Ronda continue to be the...

Ufc 175 is live this Saturday night from the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, with the Ufc selling it as their biggest show of the year. That’s partly true, however, it has fallen short of being a true ‘supershow’, particularly after the storied Sonnen vs Silva feud was pulled from the card due to both men failing drug tests. That weakened the box office lure for 175 significantly, although company celebrity and women’s champion Ronda Rousey should ensure a PPV draw-rate of around 500,000 buys.
Rousey’s main event title defence against Alexis Davis is overwhelmingly one sided in the champion’s favour, but in Rousey you have a star, people will watch just to see her perform. The other main event, and the one expected to close the show, will be the Middleweight Championship defence by Chris Weidman. He is facing an unpredictable threat in Lyoto Machida,...

Troubling news came out earlier this week in the Ufc: Jose Aldo has fallen to injury and is out of his fight against Chad Mendes at Ufc 176. Very few athletes in the world can brag about making it big in two different careers. While there are the Rondas and Franklins, one other fighter made it possible for Mma fighters to transcend the sport, when he opened the gates to enter Hollywood. With international fight week headlined by two title fights, there is no bigger week for Ufc. The end of the year show tends to have the best card, but nothing is bigger than the Fourth of July event. While the event has taken a hit from the Chael Sonnen saga, it remains to be an excellent card on paper.
Chris Weidman returns to face Lyoto Machida in the main event. When two world-class fighters that have completely different styles face each other, the fight becomes even more compelling. It will be the first time that Rousey faces a black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.

Chris Weidman had a phenomenal 2013, defeating Anderson Silva first at Ufc 162, capturing the Ufc Middleweight title in the process, and then beating ‘The Spider’ once again at Ufc 168 in December, retaining his title via technical knockout when Anderson Silva suffered a horrific injury, breaking his left fibula and tibia when Weidman checked one of Anderson’s low kicks. Weidman will now face Lyoto Machida in the main event of Ufc 175 on July 5th, with the Ufc Middleweight title on the line.
Although Weidman defeated the legendary Anderson Silva twice, he still isn’t considered as a legitimate champion by some of his critics. Come Saturday, Weidman will have the perfect opportunity to silence his critics once and for all with a victory over the former Ufc Lightweight champion Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida, who is also one of the most respected fighters in the history of Mma.

With two title fights, a heavyweight tilt that marks the return of Stephen Struve, and the return of the much-hyped Uriah Hall, Ufc 175 promises to deliver – at least on paper. Even the loss of Chael Sonnen vs. Wanderlei Silva/Vitor Belfort hasn’t dulled the anticipation for the event (well, not too much), and the Ufc has to be hoping that it will make bank when it comes time to order the fight, given the tepid performance of recent PPVs. The promotion goes big every July, and there’s a lot on the line with this card.
For starters, you have Ronda Rousey, one of the biggest draws in Mma right now, defending her belt against Canadian Alexis Davis, perhaps the last legitimate contender signed by the Ufc who’s actually ready for a title shot (the other immediate candidate would be Cat Zingano, but after injuring her knee and the death of her husband,...
