KLAUS LUCKA
Klaus Lucka's career began in his native Germany when, at the age of sixteen, he photographed Marlene Dietrich. An aspiring painter, Klaus chose instead to channel his passion into photography while integrating his painterly sense of texture and detail into his work.
Klaus shot ad campaigns and TV commercials for most of the Fortune 500, such as Coca-Cola, Smirnoff, Estee Lauder, Mercedes, Sony, Canon, Exxon, to name a few.
He also did spreads for Harper's Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, Town and Country, Italian Vogue, Andy Warhol's Interview, and Rolling Stone.
Klaus also photographed numerous celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, Jack Nicholson, Lauren Bacall and Charlton Heston,
Klaus produced and directed a groundbreaking 20 minute sensory-enhanced documentary, Sidetracked. It was shown in the Amlux Theater in Japan breaking all records. Sidetracked featured such innovations as seats that swayed with the motion of the film, an atmospheric auditory experience with speakers built into each seat, and aromatic scents that synced with the action. This demonstrated Klaus' talent for immersing his audience in a world of senses.
In 2009, Klaus was commissioned by Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts to photograph their artists.
He did this with unique panoramas consisting of as many as 100 images. This project, Portraits of the Artist's Mind, has been exhibited at New York's Lincoln Center, the Barbican Center in London, and The John F. Kennedy Center in Washington, DC where it is part of the center's permanent collection.
Last year, 2014, Lincoln Center invited Klaus back to introduce his latest video innovations. These installations featured his newly invented interactive art forms. He has created video art with subjects ranging from Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, to Brazilian performing artists, to lotus blossoms in Mougins, France. They enjoyed great success at Lincoln Center.
