Hannah Waddingham credits Game Of Thrones with transforming her career, but she didn’t love everything about filming the epic HBO series.
Waddingham played religious zealot Septa Unella in the Thrones franchise and featured in a torture scene, in which Cersei Lannister, played by Lena Headey, poured wine on her face.
She told The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that they filmed the scene for 10 hours and it was like being “actually waterboarded” in a quest for authenticity.
Waddingham said the scene was “horrific” and, five years on from the final season, she continues to have “chronic claustrophobia” as a result of her experience.
Waddingham said she had discussed the condition with Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss since filming had wrapped. “Thrones gave me something I wasn’t expecting,” she said.

Before Hannah Waddingham became an Emmy-wining household name for her work in Ted Lasso. She had a very memorable role in Game of Thrones as Septa Unella, the religious zealot who tortures Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) with that unforgettable walk of “shame” and is later left to be tortured by her henchman Gregor Clegane aka the Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson). All together, Waddingham starred in eight episodes across Seasons 5 and 6, but it was her final appearance in the decorated HBO series that left her with lasting scars — at least, figuratively speaking. Waddingham appeared on Monday night’s edition of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to promote her new movie with Ryan Gosling, The Fall Guy, and revealed just how excruciating her sendoff scene in the series was to film. “There weren’t stunts, but Thrones gave me something I wasn’t expecting from it and that is chronic claustrophobia,...

The season 3 finale of "The Mandalorian" aired on Wednesday, and while social media is abuzz with the latest happenings in the world of Mando, let's take a look back at one of the pivotal moments in the first season of this show: when Din removes his helmet in the season 1.
While there is still a part of me that laments that this group keeps their faces -- and more importantly, Pedro Pascal's face -- covered, it cannot be denied how powerful it was when he finally showed it in the last episode of season 1. Pedro Pascal is the kind of star who seems like he became a success overnight. But of course, appearances can be deceiving. The actor worked in film and television for 15 years before landing what was his first big break on Game of Thrones. Yet, even with his role on that show, perhaps what fans – and Pascal himself – remember most is his epic death scene.

Game of Thrones, of course, premiered on HBO back in 2011. And the show soon gained attention for its complex storytelling, ensemble cast, and uncompromising approach to sex and violence. During its run, much of its cast found their breakthrough roles, including supporting players and even recurring characters like Pascal’s Oberyn Martell.
The character emerges in Game of Thrones Season 4 to attend Joffrey’s (Jack Gleeson) wedding.

Pedro Pascal is really crushing it. He’s not only playing Joel Miller in HBO’s The Last of Us, but he’s also back as everyone’s favorite Din Djarin in Disney’s Star Wars: The Mandalorian. And while he’s been on TV for a while, it was his role as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones that really put him on the map.
Many fans will remember Pascal for his character’s epic fight with Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), but the actor’s favorite day on the set of HBO’s hit fantasy actually included Charles Dance, a naked woman, and a low-key game of Words With Friends.

In George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series of novels, one of his most beloved and fan-favorite characters was Oberyn Martell, the vengeance-seeking hothead who arrives on the scene in King's Landing with mysterious motivations in the third book. Though doomed to a grisly fate, the creative team on "Game of Thrones" needed to cast someone with the charisma, sex appeal, and that intangible edge of danger to help the adaptation of this character live up to the original. Needless to say, Pedro Pascal was more than up to the task.
Years later, now that the "The Last of Us" star is a household name who's gone on to bigger and better roles, Pascal joined the ever-popular "Hot Ones" YouTube series with host Sean Evans to test his mettle under the most challenging of circumstances -- answering questions while eating spicy chicken wings, naturally. Pedro Pascal, who has become the iconic father figure in shows like “The Last of Us” and “The Mandalorian,” admitted that he fell asleep while filming the gruesome death of his chararcter in “Game of Thrones.”
“Hot Ones” host Sean Evans asked Pascal about the dynamics of shooting scenes in which characters get their eyes gouged out, which also happened for Pascal in “Equalizer 2.”
“And maybe in this interview as well,” Pascal joked as he reached the midway point of spicy sauces, taking two bites of the wing and humming. “I can beg you to gouge my eyes out and collapse my skull in case it gets really bad.”

This post contains spoilers for "Game of Thrones" through season 4.
By the time the HBO series "Game of Thrones" was in its fourth season, the whole world was watching. Based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel series by George R.R. No character was safe, and even viewers who read Martin's books had no idea if their favorite would make it to the end of each season. Death was everywhere, and everyone was tuning in to see it each week.

Hannah Waddingham is best known to “Ted Lasso” fans as the complicatedly endearing AFC Richmond owner Rebecca on the light-hearted Apple TV+ comedy. But a quick costume change might remind any “Ted Lasso” viewers that also watched “Game of Thrones” of Waddingham’s iconic role from the HBO series: “shame” nun Unella.
And according to Waddingham, her final performance given as Unella was much less enjoyable than an average day on the “Ted Lasso” set, as she was “waterboarded” for 10 hours to shoot the scene in which Cersei (Lena Headey) gets revenge for all Unella has done to her.
Waddingham said in a recent interview with Collider Ladies Night, that the original form of torture was going to be Gregor Clegane, a.k.a. the Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson), raping Unella on Cersei’s command.

Rudy Giuliani just had a terrible year. Once, long, long ago, he was revered as “America’s Mayor.” Now the former politician and current attorney to President Donald Trump ended 2020 by asserting baseless and disproven lies about election fraud; losing over 60 court cases; facing an inquiry from the New York State Bar Association; and learning that Trump is trying to stiff him for the effort. So his poor ability to process the themes of Game of Thrones, either as TV series or George R.R. Martin’s source novels, ranks pretty low on his list of disgraces.
… Nonetheless, it joins the pile!
Aye, Giuliani’s dubious choice of invoking Game of Thrones comes on the heels of his greatest failing to date: using menacing rhetoric on Jan. 6 before a mob that went on to storm the U.S. Capitol in a siege that can fairly be described as a domestic terrorist attack.

"I'm not part of that plan anymore!" ITN Movies has released a new US trailer for an action movie titled Desert Strike, made by Egyptian filmmaker Raouf Abd El Aziz and first released in Egypt last year under the original title Pharaoh's War. This looks like absolute trash, and I guess that's the point - it seems like they just wanted to make a big, dumb Egyptian action film. An ex-military man with a mysterious past leads a group of Egyptian refugees through the desert and must protect them from a group of evil mercenaries. Desert Strike stars Mike Tyson and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, both of whom are laughably bad in this, and also features Mahmood Abdulmughni, Rubi, Amr Saad, and Ahmed Fahmy. This looks So bad it's hard to even finish watching the trailer but luckily it's free to watch and will likely give you a good laugh. Here's...

The Mountain has shattered a world record.
Hafthor Bjornsson, who played Ser Gregor Clegane, better known as The Mountain, on “Game of Thrones,” has a deadlift world record. He lifted 1,104 pounds (501 kilograms) at Thor’s Power Gym in Iceland on Saturday while livestreaming the historic occasion.
The previous deadlifting record was set by fellow strongman Eddie Hall in 2016 for lifting 500 kilograms, becoming the first man to ever do it.
Bjornsson, who is 6 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 452 pounds, posted a video of the deadlift on his Instagram, letting out a roar after he drops the weight and finishes. He won the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018 and has earned third place or higher every year since 2012.

The horrific sight of Dany (Emilia Clarke) turning into the Mad Queen in Season 8 of “Game of Thrones” and vaporizing King’s Landing atop Drogon became the ultimate expression of destruction for the series. Indeed, the “Battle of King’s Landing” from Episode 5 (“The Bells”) dwarfed all previous annihilation, with the VFX stepping up by taking its cue from London after the Blitz and the fire bombing of Dresden toward the end of World War II.
King’s Landing finally comes crashing down during the firebombing, the Clegane brothers (Rory McCann and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) perish from their battle, and the Red Keep castle collapses on Cersei (Lena Headey) and Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau). “So, after seven years of building out the physical and sometimes emotional world of ‘Thrones’ through use of visual effects, in ‘The Bells,’ it was time to add an exclamation point,” said Joe Bauer, the lead VFX supervisor.

“The Last of the Starks” delivered a whole helping of drama for Game of Thrones viewers.
Battles were fought, arguments were waged, and Brienne of Tarth lost her virginity – to Jaime Lannister, no less, doing good on all that sexual tension that has been simmering ever since season 3. But there’s one throwaway line that has sparked great excitement across the four corners of the realm (read: Internet), and it involves the Hound himself, Sandor Clegane, who admitted to Arya Stark that he was marching to King’s Landing to tend to some unfinished business.
Turns out that business may well be family related, after all, as just last season the Hound encountered his estranged sibling Gregor Clegane – or, in reality, the monster he had become under Cersei Lannister. Put simply, Sandor is likely referring to a royal rumble between the two giants, which has been long anticipated by Game of Thrones viewers.

“What is dead may never die,” goes the saying on the Iron Islands, and that certainly appears to hold true on “Game of Thrones.” After the game-changing resurrection of Jon Snow a couple seasons back, the series has firmly established a world where death is not necessarily the end. Now that “Game of Thrones” is coming to a close, it’s the show’s last chance to bring back some beloved or not-so-beloved characters.
The fantasy series has a few built-in ways for people to return from the dead or at least become undead, which is, you know, a return of sorts. Priests of the Red God R’hllor has seen fit to resurrect both Jon Snow and Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), the latter a total of six times, although they were slightly changed afterward. Down south in King’s Landing, disgraced maester Qyburn (Anton Lesser) took the putrefying body...

Winter is coming — actually it has arrived. Game of Thrones made an appearance at the Super Bowl with an unlikely character by the name of Bud Knight. He has a jousting match with The Mountain and it doesn’t turn out well.
As part of Bud Light’s “Dilly Dilly” commercials, the commercial spot starts off as a quirky Bud Light Super Bowl commercial. Fun, right? Well, before we get ahead of ourselves, the commercial takes a dark turn when Bud Knight is defeated by the Mountain (Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) in a jousting match. And as the Mountain performs his eye-gouging finishing move on him, a dragon comes and lays a fiery waste on everyone at the jousting match. What an unlikely way to end a Bud Light commercial.defender of the “Dilly Dilly” kingdom in a jousting contest.

The big game has made some room for a little Game of Thrones.
The Emmy-winning HBO drama, launching its final season in April, made landfall Sunday at Super Bowl Liii in unexpected fashion — through a crossover with Bud Light.
Directed by David Nutter ("The Rains of Castamere," the infamous Red Wedding episode), the Bud Light commercial sees the Mountain (played by bodybuilder Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson) jousting against the Bud Light knight. It's not a fair fight. Much as the Mountain crushed the Red Viper back in season four, he once again annihilates ...

The Mountain From ‘Game of Thrones’ Pulls Huge Cart of Chicken Sandwiches as the KFC Colonel (Video)
Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, better known as Gregor “The Mountain” Clegane on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” took time away from Westeros to step into the sought-after role of the Kentucky Fried Chicken Colonel.
In a new campaign for its “Double Crispy Colonel Sandwich” which is exactly as it sounds (two crispy chicken patties), KFC enlisted Björnsson as its special “Double Colonel.”
But wait, if the colonel is supposed to be from Kentucky, then how does Björnsson explain his Icelandic accent (besides this being a totally made-up character?) Well, KFC has the receipts. You see, the Double Colonel left his native Kentucky as a child and went to Iceland (as all kids do) “to train, to become more — twice more.”

Although this is the first time Björnsson has won the title of the world’s strongest man, he’s set strongman records before. Recently, he deadlifted more than 1,000 pounds. He is also the first person to have ever won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man and World’s Strongest Man in the same calendar year.

One year after the events of Kickboxer: Vengeance, Kurt Sloan has vowed never to return to Thailand. But while he is preparing for an Mma title shot, he is drugged and wakes up in a Thai prison. His captors want him to face a colossus named Mongkut – in return, Sloan will get $2million dollars and his freedom. If he doesn’t fight, his wife will die. So Sloan has no other choice but to undergo his most rigorous training yet, under some very unexpected mentors, in order to take on this dreaded opponent.
Given the affable reception afforded the previous film, a loose remake of the 1989 original, it comes as no surprise that a sequel was in order.

When it comes to the SAG Awards, size often matters. The most massive casts often run off with the ensemble prizes, which explains how “Lost” found victory at the 2005 ceremony, and how “Downton Abbey” (2012) was able to take down two-time champ “Boardwalk Empire” (2010-2011). This year, however, Gold Derby’s SAG TV predictions favor Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” to prevail despite having the second-smallest cast. Are we crazy for going against bigger ensembles?
“The Handmaid’s Tale” boasts 10 cast members on the voting ballot, ahead of only Netflix’s “The Crown” at five. Comparatively, the other nominated dramas each feature more than a dozen actors: HBO’s “Game of Thrones” at 30, Netflix’s “Stranger Things” at 17 and NBC’s “This Is Us” at 13. In recent years “Game of Thrones” and “Downton Abbey” always had the biggest casts, with “Downton” beating the HBO fantasy series in 2014 and 2015.

"Kurt soon learns that in order to be allowed to leave Thailand he needs to fight a new formidable foe named 'Mongkut', who is a beast of a man, standing at 6'9" and weighing over 400 lbs of solid muscle.

"The strongest man doesn't always win, but the smartest one does." Well Go USA has released the official trailer for the action film Kickboxer: Retaliation, which is the sequel to the Kickboxer remake film titled Kickboxer: Vengeance from 2016. Wait - did anyone even see Kickboxer: Vengeance? I recall watching the trailer for it, but I don't recall anyone seeing it or saying much about it, but maybe I forgot. Was it actually good enough to warrant a sequel? Either way, the sequel is done and is in theaters this month. Kickboxer: Retaliation has another fairly impressive cast: Alain Moussi, Christopher Lambert, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sara Malakul Lane, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Sam Medina, and Mike Tyson. I wish this looked like something I would want to watch, because even the big fights don't seem that good. See below. Here's the first official trailer for Dimitri Logothetis' Kickboxer: Retaliation, direct from...

A post shared by Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (@thorbjornsson) on Oct 23, 2017 at 5:15am Pdt Game of Thrones is currently filming its eighth and final season, but some characters that aren't constantly fighting for the throne, like Gregor "The Mountain" Clegane, don't need to be there every day. Icelandic actor Hafpór Júlíus "Thor" Björnsson showed off his recent vacation when he posted a photo of himself at the beach on Instagram on Monday. "Enjoying the beach life!" he wrote. While we love seeing the incredibly large actor do basically anything, especially play with his tiny puppy, this photo makes us particularly happy. Why, you ask? Well, his short-shorts. His insane muscles and massive frame make him look like a giant on the beach, and we love it so much. If only a few other cast members tagged along for a group vacay . . .
