- Patricio Aylwin was a Chilean politician, lawyer, author, professor and former senator. He was the first democratically-elect president of Chile after the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990).
He played himself in Pablo Larrain's movie "No", telling the story of the Chilean referendum of 1988, which ousted Pinochet from power. The movie was nominated for a foreign language film at the 2013 Academy Awards.- IMDb Mini Biography By: robertus19

- He helped to restore democracy to Chile after 17 years of harsh dictatorship under General Pinochet, and was later elected president. He appointed an independent commission that found that 3,197 people were killed for political reasons under Pinochet. The report paved the way for the first trials of military officers, which years later would reach Pinochet himself.
