Ian Alexander Brightman
- Writer
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Born in Van Nuys, California, Ian A Brightman is as SoCal as one could
get. He was raised by his parents, Jamie and Lisa Sutton, with his
little brother, James, and his half older brother, Tristan. By the time
he was in high school, Ian had played baseball for eight years and
consistently played other team sports in leagues and with friends. At
that point, he had been writing for almost ten years. Doing mostly
poems, short stories, and one novel, his writing soon took off with the
help of his freshman English teacher who he continues to have a good
relationship with. Unfortunately, his writing went on the back burner
in high school as he became overwhelmed with football, tennis,
baseball, AP classes, and jobs. After high school, he began coaching
football for a pop-warner team in Burbank, California and continues
coaching football to this day. He became a USPTA Pro Certified tennis
coach and has been coaching classes and private lessons since 2010.
Only in 2011 did he realize his love for writing once more, embarking
on his first take at a script with the help of a recent friend from
Pennsylvania, Jordan Ross. Once that project was complete, his every
waking moment began to revolve around writing. Since then, he has
written another four scripts (as the sole writer), two shorts, and a
children's cartoon...all in the past two years. Recently, Ian has
discovered his niche in writing: historical fiction. Because of this,
he has decided to go back to school as an Ancient History major to help
not only his writing, but his academic future...he even plans to get a
Master's degree in Mythology; and all while continuing to coach, and
write.
