Streaming service Starzplay has picked up the UK rights to Syfy’s comic book adaptation Deadly Class. The Lionsgate-backed digital platform will launch the series as a boxset on July 19.
This comes after the Sony Pictures Television and Ucp-produced series, which is exec produced by Avengers pair the Russo brothers, was cancelled by the NBCU-backed cable network after one season.
Set in a dark, heightened world against the backdrop of late 80s counter culture, Deadly Class follows the story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), a teen living on the streets who is recruited into Kings Dominion, an elite private academy where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital. Benedict Wong, Lana Condor, María Gabriela de Faría, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval also star.

Syfy has opted not to renew Happy! for a third season and Deadly Class for a second. Both shows are based on graphic novels and both are being shopped. Happy! comes from Syfy sibling Ucp, while Deadly Class is from Sony Pictures TV, which co-produced with Ucp.
After a breakout first season for Happy!, linear ratings for the quirky comedy/drama series, starring Christopher Meloni and featuring the voice of Patton Oswalt, dropped sharply in Season 2. But the hybrid live-action/animated series reportedly has been doing well in its second window on Netflix where it is said to be the streamer’s top performing second window drama, besides You, in key male demos and teens. You also was not doing well in its first-window linear run (on Lifetime), leading to the drama becoming a Netflix original for Season 2. Happy! producer Ucp is shopping the show, and Netflix would be a natural home for it.

Spoiler Alert: This post contains details of tonight’s Deadly Class Season 1 finale.
“You know, I always joke that if we don’t get a Season 2 that this’ll be like Freaks and Geeks,” says Deadly Class executive producer Rick Remender as the Syfy series based on the acclaimed Reagan Era set comic he and Wes Craig created concluded its first season tonight.
“Deadly Class will be over but we’ll just have give birth to a whole generation of young adults who are going to go off and take the world by storm, because they are so goddamn gifted, and each one of them brings so much to their roles,” the co-showrunner added of the cast of the Benjamin Wadsworth-led ensemble of a school for assassins.

High school, according to TV and movies, is either the best or worst thing that can happen to a person. It’s almost always depicted as the most fun a kid can have, or a horrifying hellhole from which there’s no escape. “Deadly Class” is decidedly in the latter camp — and despite its edgy attempts otherwise, doesn’t particularly find a new way to show it.
Adapted from Rick Remender’s comic book series and produced by the Russo brothers, “Deadly Class” travels back to 1987 to tell the unlucky story of Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth), an orphan who gets recruited out of homelessness to enroll in the King’s Dominion High School for the Deadly Arts. Headed up by the exacting Master Lin (Benedict Wong), King’s is like Hogwarts, if Hogwarts was brimming over with snarling teens training to become vicious assassins. And in fact, the best directing comes...

It’s a new year which means new TV shows to get excited
about. The show that really caught my eye was Deadly Class which will premiere
on the SyFy channel on January 16th.
Deadly Class follows students enrolled at King’s Dominion
Atelier of the Deadly Arts, a secret high school in San Francisco, as they
train to become the next generation of top assassins for crime families across
the globe. Image Comics has published Deadly Class on a mostly monthly
basis since the first issue was released on January 22, 2014.
The show will star Benedict Wong, Benjamin Wadsworth, Lana
Condor, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Luke Tennie, Liam James, and Michel Duval. Henry
Rollins also has a recurring role on the show. The show was brought to the
screen by the Russo brothers who later this year will bring us Avengers: Endgame.

We’ve got a kickass new trailer for you to watch today for Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming Syfy Channel series Deadly Class, which is based on the Image Comics property created by Rick Remender and Wes Craig.
The new trailer offers up a ton of cool, action-packed new footage and also introduces us to the villainous character Chester "Fuckface" Wilson, who is played by Tom Stevens (Wayward Pines ). Wilson likes to torture his roommate Marcus Arguello. In the comics, Wilson ended up being badly burned in an explosion during Marcus's escape from the school.
I also included a behind-the-scenes featurette for the series that includes the cast and crew talking about what we can expect to see from the series. That includes the Russo Brothers. I’m really excited about this show and its future! I already watched the pilot episode and loved it, so I’m sold.

There are eleven days left in 2018, but the TV world is sure determined to get 2019 here as quickly as possible. The latest example: Syfy has made Episode 1 of their new series “Deadly Class” available for free on YouTube, just in time for the holidays.
The series, created by McU stalwarts Joe and Anthony Russo, adapts the comic book series centered on King’s Dominion, a clandestine Bay Area high school for would-be international assassins. The hour-long action drama has its more traditional premiere on January 16 in the new year, but the episode can be watched in full below.:
“Deadly Class” features Benedict Wong as the headmaster of this school, a Dumbledore who whacks unsuspecting pupils in the face with his cane, apparently. “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” breakout Lana Condor plays Saya, a student who helps newcomer Marcus (Benjamin Wadsworth) get situated at King’s Dominion.

The Syfy Channel has unleashed another wicked cool trailer for Joe and Anthony Russo’s upcoming series Deadly Class. The series looks like it’s its going to be an action-packed blast!
The series is set at a school for assassins where a bunch of young men and women learn the deadly art of killing people. There are also a lot of strict rules to follow at this school, but like this trailer suggests, rules are meant to be broken.
The series is based on the Image Comics property created by Rick Remender and Wes Craig. I’m just happy that the Russo Bros. picked it up and developed it because with those guys leading the charge, you know it’s going to be great!

We’ve got a great new trailer to share with you today for the upcoming action series Deadly Class, which is set at a school for assassins where a bunch of young men and women learn the deadly art of killing people in all kinds of assassin-like ways.
The series was developed by Avengers: Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo for the Syfy Channel and it looks pretty damn entertaining. Deadly Class is based on the Image Comics property created by Rick Remender and Wes Craig. I’ve never read the comic, but it looks like it will make for an awesome series! I also trust that the Russo Bros. are going to give us top notch entertainment.
This is the synopsis that was released for Deadly Class:

The Syfy Channel has greenlit the series adaption of Image Comics' Deadly Class, which is being produced by Avengers: Infinity War director Joe and Anthony Russo. If you're not familiar with the story, here's a description of the series that was provided:

It follows a homeless teen recruited into a storied elite private school where the world’s top crime families send their next generations. Maintaining his moral code while surviving a ruthless curriculum, vicious social cliques, and his own adolescent uncertainties soon proves to be vital.
They are obviously looking to tap into this nostalgic 80s radcore phase that was made popular by Stranger Things. It certainly sounds like it has potential to be a great series, especially with the Russo's involved.

Deadly Class, an assassin high school show, is coming to Syfy courtesy of the Russo Brothers. Here's what we know so far.
Rick Remender and Wes Craig's graphic novel, Deadly Class, has received the adaptation treatment courtesy of the Russo Brothers and will now be airing on Syfy.
The graphic novels, which debuted for Image Comics back in 2014, follow a group of teenagers as they make their way through San Francisco's late '80s punk scene and also a high school for assassins. The book focuses on Marcus Lopez, a homeless Nicaraguan teen who gets recruited for the school. His first decision as a student is to kill Ronald Reagan, and that's somehow the least bad decision he makes in the entire book.
