These days, television shows rarely have a theme song or even a memorable opening title sequence. If we're lucky, we get the show's title on the screen for a split second with an instrumental song. Maybe the title simply just displays on screen as the episode opens or after a cold open. Unfortunately, theme songs with clips of the cast and their names are mostly a relic of the past.
However, there's one thing Netflix's The Perfect Couple does right and it's deploy a theme song and an extended opening title sequence. Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor's song "Criminals," from the deluxe edition of her 2024 album Timeless, acts as the limited series' theme song for all six episodes. It's the centerpiece of the cast's dance sequence.

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
This is a moment overflowing with worthy country songs, so even though this category makes room for six nominees, there are others worth considering. Megan Moroney’s “Tennessee Orange” has to be in the conversation, according to CMT’s Leslie Fram. “I listened to all her songs and was like, ‘Ok, she is a real songwriter,...

Today’s country artists love to namecheck icons like Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and Waylon Jennings in their songs and during interviews. But sonically, they owe their greatest debt to Jimmy Buffett, whose tropical vibes, beachy imagery, and ocean escapism has shaped the last two decades of mainstream country. Buffett died Friday at 76, leaving an undeniable legacy that is still heard in the songs of country radio and warrants future induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Carrie Underwood is the singer behind “Blown Away,” although this wasn’t the only tornado song written particularly with the country artist in mind. The co-writers mentioned their earlier song “Whirlwind,” it’s story, and why it was never officially released.

Fans were “Blown Away” by this track. Underwood released this No. 1 hit in 2012, featuring her iconic country sound and some unique themes regarding tornados.
“Shatter every window ’til it’s all blown away,” the chorus states. “Every brick, every board, every slamming door blown away / ‘Til there’s nothing left standing / Nothing left of yesterday / Every tear-soaked whiskey memory blown away, blown away, blown away.”
There’s references to the distruction of natural disaster, also telling the story of a particular family in Oklahoma caught in the tornado.

Carrie Underwood is credited as a performer, co-writer, and even co-producer on her 2022 album Denim & Rhinestones. However, she didn’t always have a role in writing and producing originals. Here’s what she said about making this collection sound like herself.
Does Carrie Underwood write her own music? Carrie Underwood performs onstage during the 64th Annual Grammy Awards | Rich Fury/Getty Images for The Recording Academy
Underwood currently writes most of her own songs. However, these releases are typically created with a co-writer. “Hate My Heart” was co-written by Hillary Lindsey, Michael Hardy, David Garcia, and Underwood.
One of her most popular songs, “Jesus Take the Wheel,” was written by Brett James, Hillary Lindsey, and Gordie Sampson. One of her earliest hits, “Before He Cheats,” was written by Kara DioGuardi, Chris Tompkins, and Josh Kear.

Blake Shelton is going retro for his latest release.
The country star, 46, announced on Monday that he’s releasing a new, ’90s-inspired single, along with a music video for the track on Friday, August 19. Titled “No Body”, the tune channels Shelton’s feelings as a teenager in the 1990s.
“I get excited and feel like a kid every time we release new music,” the singer said in a release. “But this song in particular takes me back to the ‘90s when I was in high school and first moved to Nashville, because it feels like what the music sounded like at that time.”

Lainey Wilson Writes Her Version of ‘Strawberry Wine’ With Nostalgic New Song ‘Watermelon Moonshine’
Lainey Wilson looks back on a young and reckless love in the new song “Watermelon Moonshine,” her latest release from her upcoming second album. Bell Bottom Country, the follow-up to the “Things a Man Oughta Know” singer’s 2021 breakout Sayin’ What I’m Thinkin’, will be released Oct. 28 via Bbr Music Group/Broken Bow Records.
There’s some thematic similarity between “Watermelon Moonshine” and Deana Carter’s classic “Strawberry Wine”: Wilson describes a memory of being 18 and in love, having tastes of homemade booze, and then giving in to pleasure.

The first time Danny Kiranos heard Carrie Underwood’s 2005 hit “Before He Cheats,” he knew he’d found his go-to karaoke jam. Kiranos, who records and performs as Amigo the Devil, recalls getting a feeling of “pure joy” from the experience.
“I remember hearing it for the first time and just feeling good,” he says. “It’s a big chorus. That’s a hook. That’s how you write a goddamn song!”
As Amigo the Devil, Kiranos has now released his own version of the song, originally penned by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins.

Underwood, Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear penned the series, while Underwood and Bruckheimer will executive produce the project.
