Romero as his primary inspiration to become a writer, stating that seeing Creepshow (1982) when he was 8 years old is the moment he realized he wanted to make films and write horror. He eventually met Romero in April, 2017 and was able to tell him face-to-face what his films meant to him, to which the filmmaker jokingly responded, "I'm very happy to have inspired you, and also very sorry!
