Former President Donald Trump is ramping up his attacks on Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as the complex presidential campaign heats up.
On Truth Social, Trump wrote Kennedy is “far more Liberal than anyone running as a Democrat, including West and Stein,” referencing other third-party candidates Cornel West and Jill Stein.
Without any evidence, Trump claimed that Kennedy was pushed out of the Democratic Party “because he was taking primary votes away” from President Joe Biden.
“Rfk Jr. is a Democrat’ Plant,’ a Radical Left Liberal who’s been put in place in order to help Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the History of the United States, get Re-Elected,” Trump wrote. “A Vote for Junior’ would essentially be a Wasted Protest Vote that could swing either way but would only swing against the Democrats if Republicans knew the true story about him. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has selected Silicon Valley attorney turned philanthropist Nicole Shanahan as his running mate in an early-announcement move as the independent presidential hopeful seeks to get his name on ballots in all 50 states for his White House bid.
Kennedy, son of the former U.S. attorney general and senator from New York who was assassinated in 1968, announced that Shanahan would join his campaign at a rally in Oakland on Tuesday. The announcement of a running mate decision this early is a strategic move that looks to assuage some of the concerns around his ballot access in half of the country.
“Nicole has put her interest aside and made the momentous and very, very difficult decision to embark with me on this extraordinary crusade to win back our country,” Kennedy said while introducing Shanahan as his running mate. The White House hopeful, who has a voice condition called spasmodic dysphonia,...

Kym Staton’s documentary recruits a starry cast of fierce defenders of the imprisoned leaker but makes no room for the case against
Remember Julian Assange? Having dominated headlines in the 2010s, the WikiLeaks founder has dropped out of sight having been confined at London’s Belmarsh prison since 2019. And that was kind of the plan, this impassioned documentary asserts, with the aid of staunch defenders including the late John Pilger, Tariq Ali, Jill Stein, Pentagon Papers leaker Daniel Ellsworth and Assange family members. “The persecution of Julian has been a long, slow form of killing somebody,” says Pilger; witnessing Assange’s trajectory from a buccaneering truth-teller to a frail, mentally damaged prisoner, perpetually denied justice, it’s hard to disagree.
According to this documentary by Australian film-maker Kym Staton, Assange has been subject to a coordinated smear campaign. It argues that the 2010 rape allegations against Assange by two Swedish...

The Vanderpump Rules Season 10 finale, aptly titled “#Scandoval,” concluded with a dramatic exchange between Tom Sandoval, two-timing paragon of Angeleno scumbaggery whose five-percent ownership stake in one of West Hollywood’s seediest bars made him think he was the second coming of Steve Rubell, and Scheana Shay, an aspiring pop star/vlogger who will fall head over heels for you if you mount a TV in under seven minutes.

Independent presidential candidate Cornel West believes Joe Biden won’t be able to make it to the general election.
“I’m not even sure whether I’ll be running against Biden,” West told Politico. “Biden — I think he’s going to have an Lbj moment [and] pull back.”
West doesn’t think Biden can take the criticism from his more left-wing critics on how he’s handling the Israel-Hamas war and the economy.
He suggested he’s running against a “B” team opponents such as California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will run against him
“I’m just saying that I’m open to those possibilities, given the fluidity of the situation. He’s running out of gas,” West added.
He slammed Biden’s foreign policy, calling him a “milquetoast neoliberal with military adventurism, possibly leading the world toward World War III.”

Of course the biggest issue in America is the final repeal of Roe v. Wade by an unrestrained right wing Supreme Court majority, all but one of whom were appointed by presidents who didn’t actually win the popular vote. And naturally that horrific turn of events was front and center in Bill Maher’s monologue on Friday’s episode of “Real Time.”
Maher kicked off his opening bit with a detailed series of half-jokes about it, noting that this week has been filled with unhinged Scotus decisions; not just the repeal of Roe for example, but also the elimination of even tepid gun control laws in America.
“Well if you’re keeping score at home, it’s Guns 1, women nothing,” Maher joked.

Stephen Colbert made punching bags of several members of the GOP during Thursday night’s “Late Show” monologue, including Pennsylvania candidate for senate, Dr. Mehmet Oz.
“Dr. Oz is running for senate in Pennsylvania, despite the fact that until the moment he announced, he’d been living in and filming his show in New Jersey,” Colbert begain.
“New Jersey!” the “Late Show” host continued, with emphasis on the state’s name. “He’s not a real Pennsylvanian. I bet he’s never even got wasted on Yuengling and tried to tongue the crack of the Liberty Bell.”
But Colbert didn’t stop there. He continued to rip the former TV show host (who stepped back from his show for his political run) over a recent comment Dr. Oz made about his involvement in politics in Turkey (Oz is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Turkey).

Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Borat” sequel will premiere on Amazon Prime Video.
It’s unclear when the film will be released on the streaming service, though sources say it will debut before the presidential election in November. The follow-up is reportedly titled “Borat: Gift of Pornographic Monkey to Vice Premiere Mikhael Pence to Make Benefit Recently Diminished Nation of Kazakhstan,” but Amazon declined to confirm.
The movie — a direct sequel to Cohen’s 2006 film “Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan” — was secretly filmed and completed during the pandemic. Cohen was recently spotted in Los Angeles dressed in character as Borat Sagdiyev, a Kazakh journalist who was first introduced to audiences on “F2F” and “Da Ali G Show.” He also made a secret appearance in June at a political rally, where he pranked the conservative audience into singing racist song lyrics.

Sacha Baron Cohen has pulled off his latest prank.
Variety can confirm the comedian and star of the political satire show “Who Is America?” infiltrated a conservative rally in Washington on Saturday, making his way on stage and getting some people in the crowd to sing racist lyrics about President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Dr. Anthony Fauci and the “Wuhan flu.”
The rally, titled “March for Our Rights 3,” was organized by the Washington Three Percenters, a right-wing militia organization, on Saturday. According to social media posts from the event’s organizers, Baron Cohen disguised himself as the leader of a political action committee who wanted to sponsor the rally. He brought his own security team who prevented organizers from kicking him off stage once he began singing and turning off the power to his microphone.

President Donald Trump is sticking close to home this weekend, forgoing his usual rounds of golf at his Sterling, Va. country club and hunkering down in the White House. That leaves plenty of time for tweeting and retweeting on his favorite issues.
Today’s flurry of activity via Twitter saw little in the way of controversy, as he focused on praise from his friends and accomplishments of his administration.
That follows an epic tweetstorm on Saturday, also a non-golf day, where the Commander-in-Tweet posted several thoughts per hour, capping the night with the news that he’s moving the upcoming G7 meetings and the observation that “Hillary’s gone Crazy!”
We’ll update as the day rolls on and more tweets come in. The tweetstorm so far:
“The ceasefire is holding up very nicely. There are some minor skirmishes that have ended quickly.

Updated At 7:45Pm Pt: After complaints from critics that he was trying to cash in by holding next year’s G7 summit at his property in Doral, Florida, President Trump has abandoned the plan.
“I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders. It is big, grand, on hundreds of acres, next to Miami International Airport, has tremendous ballrooms & meeting rooms, and each delegation would have,” he tweeted Saturday night.
“Therefore, based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately. Thank you!” he said in a second tweet.

As Showtime prepares its Emmy submissions for 2019, one of its contenders is a bit of an outlier: Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Who Is America?”
The seven-episode series, which premiered last July, mixes elements of comedy, satire, sketch, reality, talk and variety — making it the kind of hybrid that could be entered in several categories.
And that’s Showtime’s plan. Although there are unscripted elements to “Who Is America?” (such as the time Baron Cohen got Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio to address the infamous alleged Donald Trump “pee pee tape”), the network is following the precedent set by “Saturday Night Live” in splitting its major submissions in both the comedy and variety/sketch categories.
“Who Is America?” will be submitted in the outstanding variety/sketch series category, where it would potentially face shows like last year’s winner “SNL,” and previous nominees such as “Drunk History” and “At Home with Amy Sedaris.

Did failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin help promote Sacha Baron Cohen’s “Who Is America?” for no good reason? You betcha! The finale of the seven-episode Showtime series ended on Sunday night without an appearance from the former Alaska governor, which means what ever she said or did with a Cohen character ended up on the cutting room floor.

Stephen Colbert wants some of those 18.2 million people who watched the revival of Roseanne this week on ABC. Colbert also wanted to ding CNN for mistaking his show for Saturday Night Live in its coverage of his Wednesday guest Dana Carvey, who did a bit in which he played new National Security Adviser John Bolton.
In the Roseanne reboot, Roseanne the character, like Roseanne Barr the actress, is a Trump supporter, while her made-for-tv sister, played by Laurie Metcalf, voted for Jill Stein. Some critics called the show’s premise “refreshing.”

The morning after Carvey’s “very subtle nuanced portrayal” of Bolton, CNN posted about it, with the headline “Look Who’s Playing Bolton on SNL.

President Donald Trump called Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on the huge ratings scored by her ABC Roseanne reboot, surprising no one.
The Master of Making It About Him phoned the outspoken actress and vocal Trump supporter after his advisers, Fox News Channel and Don Jr., spent much of the day praising her for the debut’s big ratings. ABC brought back the comedy series after more than 20 years off the air, bagging a 5.2 adults 18-49 rating and 18.2 million total viewers – 10% bigger crowd than the original series finale 21 years ago.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders informed The New York Times that her former reality-tv star boss called the sitcom star Wednesday night to commend her success, securing a Potus headline on this TV story.
Trump was “enthralled” with the ratings, Nyt reported. Because he sees it as a ringing endorsement of himself, we add.

Piers Morgan linked the ratings success of both the Stormy Daniels interview on “60 Minutes” and the premiere of ABC’s “Roseanne” revival to the “enduring power of Trump” in a tweet on Wednesday. “Roseanne” returned for a 10th season on Tuesday night with the revelation that the central character is a Donald Trump supporter (like Roseanne Barr herself). More than 18 million viewers tuned in to the episode, which saw the character labeled a “deplorable” by her Jill Stein-supporting sister Jackie (Laurie Metcalf). That was just two days after “60 Minutes” scored its highest ratings in nearly a decade when 22...

The Conner's are back, and it's insane how much we've all missed them!
On Roseanne Season 1 Episode 1, we jumped right into things by joking about Dan wondering why everyone always thinks he is dead. It's certainly one way we can all ignore the final season of the original run of the series.
The first thing which will be highly discussed is the political leanings of Roseanne. The episode made no qualms about the Conner's voting for President Trump. The only thing which confused me was why so many people were surprised by the character voting for Trump.
As someone who was raised in the mid-west by a hard working family who struggled, the Republican tendencies weren't at all shocking. Roseanne even made a case for herself within the episode by stating things weren't going well for the family, and they almost lost the house.

Roseanne is back — and potentially more relevant than ever.
The revival picks up 21 years after we last left the Conner clan, and wastes no time reversing Dan’s death. Even better, it does so in a way that honors the previous twist ending: the family patriarch finds his wife’s unpublished manuscript in the garage, turns to her and says, “This would have sold like hotcakes if only you hadn’t killed off the most interesting character.” It’s a clever nod, and ties in nicely with the opening scene that finds Roseanne checking to make sure her beloved husband,...

Roseanne Connor, Roseanne Barr’s character on “Roseanne,” may not know who Jill Stein is. But Roseanne Barr definitely does. One of the punchlines in the new “Roseanne” reunion — “Who’s Jill Stein?” packs a bigger laugh if you know the weird history between Roseanne Barr and Stein, a two-time Green Party presidential nominee. The joke comes near the end of the premiere episode of the ABC revival, when Roseanne (Barr) and her sister Jackie (Laurie Metcalf) argue about the 2016 election. Jackie says Roseanne, who voted for Donald Trump, bad-mouthed Jackie’s candidate, Hillary Clinton, throughout the campaign. “You kept saying what a...

Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel investigation just indicted 13 Russians and three organizations for social-media manipulation in the 2016 election. Most interesting and problematic. But other events this past week show just how little has been fixed at YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter since that long string of hostile acts by a foreign power became publicly known.
Indeed, the question is whether the social-media giants can evolve what they do fast enough to protect their users, and our unsteady democracy, from the weaponized manipulation that may soon become a fixture of our future.
The 41-page Mueller indictment laid out in excruciating detail how Kremlin-connected Russians embarked on long-term, systematic and focused efforts to first complicate the U.S. election, and then to actively work against Hillary Clinton’s election.

New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio won a second term a few weeks ago — despite, as it turns out, having some pretty famous competition.

A year ago today, IndieWire prepared three stories to run on election night, once the results came in. The one that ultimately posted, of course, declared Donald Trump the victor. Below, here are the two other drafts that IndieWire never had an opportunity to post: One, in the event that Hillary Clinton won the electoral vote; the other, if it was too close to call and triggering a recount.
First, here’s the story IndieWire would have posted if Clinton won:
America’s with her.
Hillary Rodham Clinton made history Tuesday night, becoming the presumptive 45th president of the United States of America – and shattering glass ceilings as the nation’s first female chief executive.
The Democratic candidate’s election comes 96 years after the ratification of the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. XXX was the first TV outlet to call the victory, at Xx:xx p.m.

[Editor’s Note: The following article contains spoilers for “American Horror Story: Cult” Season 7, Episode 6, “Mid-Western Assassin.”]
“American Horror Story: Cult” has been nothing if not blunt — often graphically so. Through five episodes, Ryan Murphy’s parody of the 2016 election has featured scenes of ghastly brutality captured without much subtlety or restraint.
A masked gimp is draped from the ceiling by fishhooks and then lazily gutted by a roaming cult of clowns. A former member of the insane clown posse is punished by having nails shot into his head during a markedly lengthy sequence. Even the humor is blunt, as the “Jill Stein” joke, so casually tossed in during the premiere, has been recycled so often even the most bitter Hillary haters are over it.

But Episode 6, “Mid-Western Assassin,” showed such atypical and commendable restraint that even die-hard fans have to appreciate the toned down opening sequence capturing a mysterious mass shooting.

Fans finally learned why Ivy hates Ally so much in this week's episode of American Horror Story: Cult. Voting for Jill Stein was just the tip of the iceberg. The hatred runs deeper: all the way back to Oz's birth. When joining the cult, she told Kai that she didn't want Ally murdered because it would hurt Oz too much, but she does want full custody. Kai promised to make that possible.

Way back in Murder House, I praised American Horror Story for the show's penchant to introduce some kind of plot contrivance, then immediately follow up on it. There weren't a lot of dragged-out elements; something was introduced, then it was followed up on, and that was basically how most of the season went. Pay-offs weren't delayed, but there was a continual process of setting up dominoes, then toppling them, and setting up more dominoes that drove the first season forward all the way until the ending (which I maintain was satisfying, particularly given how some seasons have sputtered to a halt).

The Independent Spirit Awards are largely known as the ceremony that takes place the day before the Oscars, and sometimes it looks a little too similar. At their worst, the Spirits play like a series of rehearsal speeches for Sunday. The 2017 edition was mercifully different — with the budget of “La La Land” exceeding the $20 million cap for Spirits nominees, it was mostly an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments “Moonlight” over and over again. More than a socially relevant portrait of alienation, the movie also permeated the cultural landscape. Judging by the conversations swirling around the tent in Santa Monica, it also represented a tipping point for a community of artists on the verge of fresh inspiration.

The Women’s March on Washington no doubt owes a debt of gratitude to Hillary Clinton, but apparently not enough to name her an official honoree.
The self-described “women-led movement” released its Guiding Vision and Definition of Principles on Thursday, which included the names of 27 women who were singled out as “revolutionary leaders who paved the way for us to march.”
It came as a surprise to many that the first woman to win the nomination for president of a major political party did not make the cut.

The presidential recount launched by Green Party candidate Jill Stein raises big questions: Did Russians hack U.S. voting machines? What happens to leftover money Stein raised for the recount? Can the recount change the election’s outcome? “I think it’s going to be a bitch,” reporter and documentary filmmaker Greg Palast, who broke the recount story, told TheWrap. “But Michigan and Wisconsin are so close that if they do an honest review, you’re going to see a reversal.” Other election watchers say that’s unlikely, but we’ll soon find out if Palast is right — the recount begins Friday.
