The official website for the the live-action film adaptation of Satoru Noda's adventure manga, Golden Kamuy , announced today that its first serial drama series, which will tell a sequel story to the film, will broadcast on the Japanese satellite broadcasting station Wowow's Serial Drama W programming block in the fall of 2024. Its title is Golden Kamuy: Hokkaido Irezumi Shuzin Soudatsu-hen (Hokkaido Tattooed Prisoners Scramble Arc) , and a 60-second teaser trailer is now online. While all of the 13 main cast and staff members from the film will return, four additional cat members have been confirmed — Hiroyuki Ikeuchi as Kiroranke, Maryjun Takahashi as Inkarmat, Yuki Sakurai as Kano Ienaga, and Akihisa Shino as Kantaro Okuyama. Mixed martial arts thriller “Glass Dragon” has been picked up for international sales by MPI Media. The company is launching the title at the Cannes Market.
The film, now in post-production, is produced by Asia-facing Los Angeles company Eleven Arts and Re:Anime, a firm that adapts beloved anime series into captivating live-action films.
“Glass Dragon” stars Miki Mizuno (“Bayside Shakedown”), a martial artist and single mother who has to accelerate her life plans when things go badly wrong for her and her daughter. The picture also stars the veteran martial arts film star Mark Dacascos (“Cradle 2 the Grave,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “John Wick 3,” “Iron Chef America”). Other acting credits got to Maryjun Takahashi (“Rurouni Kenshin”) and Kiki Sukezane (“Westworld,” “Lost in Space”).

Japanese director Sion Sono is one of the most prolific filmmakers working today, having released five films last year, including “Shinjuku Swan,” a live action adaptation of the popular manga series by the same name. The film followed Tatsuhiko (Gou Ayano), an adult entertainment talent scout working in the red light district of Tokyo. It has yet to receive a release in the United States, but Sono has already followed it up with a sequel, which follows Tatsuhiko as he clashes CEO Masaki Taki (Tadanobu Asano). The sequel stars Alice Hirose, Kippei Shiina, Yusuke Iseya, Motoki Fukami, Nobuaki Kaneko, Yu Yamada, Yusuke Kamiji, Maryjun Takahashi, Jun kaname, Hideo Nakano and Takashi Sasano. In addition to the 1972 series and its spinoff, Kikaider-01, an anime of the series followed in 2001 along with a 4-episode Ova from Sony Animation. The film will open in Japan on May 24. The film takes place in a futuristic setting, where Japan has replaced most of its workforce with androids and robots. When the brilliant robot engineer Dr. Nobuhiko Kōmyōji dies, his rivals steal his designs and begin a plan for world conquest using the might of his robotic creations. Ten Shimoyama directs the film which stars Jingi Irie, Ryūji Harada, Aimi Satsukawa and Maryjun Takahashi. Here's a trailer for the 2001 anime series which younger fans will probably be more familiar with than the '72 tokusatsu live-action show. It aired on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in the early 200s.

Rurouni Kenshin executive producer Hiroyoshi Koiwai was kind enough to update Cbm on the status of the two sequels films (Rurôni Kenshin: The Great Kyôto Fire Arc, Rurôni Kenshin: The End of a Legend Arc) currently being shot over in Japan. The production is currently entering the home stretch with filming currently taking place in Kyoto after stops in Goza (Shimasho Goza), Tottori, Kurashiki, Ibaraki and Higashiosaka(Osaka).
