Shakespeare’s classic comedy is given a contemporary spin in Joss Whedon’s film, Much Ado About Nothing. Shot in just 12 days (and using the original text), the story of sparring lovers Beatrice and Benedick offers a dark, sexy and occasionally absurd view of the intricate game that is love.
Recently, Whedon co-wrote and produced Lionsgate’s horror/thriller feature film Cabin In The Woods, which received enormous critical praise. Whedon then went on to write and direct Marvel’s signature superhero ensemble, The Avengers, which was a breakout success and became one of the highest grossing films of all time. Shadowlocked had the awesome, geeky privilege of talking to actor Fran Kranz (Dollhouse, Cabin in the Woods, Much Ado About Nothing) today, and among other things, he said that:
“I think Much Ado is coming out sometime early summer 2013.”
Of course, he didn’t say it as any kind of definite thing, and plans can always change, but this gives us some idea of whenabouts the release date should be. Given that a year ago, we didn’t even know that the film existed, waiting another 7 or 8 months seems acceptable. Especially since it was seven years between Joss Whedon’s feature directorial debut Serenity and his sophomore effort The Avengers, and now it seems it’ll only be about a year between his second and third films as director. Not to mention that Cabin in the Woods came out earlier in the year, and is now out on DVD. Though...
