Rennie Sharp is the Creator, Director and Producer of "The Undetected," a short film on the 2018 film festival circuit making the rounds as a proof of concept pilot for a one-hour drama television series.
Born into a broken home in Brooklyn, New York, then transplanted to grow up in California, times were tough. Rennie dreamed of becoming an athlete but he was not blessed with the physical stature to pursue that dream. When things at home became unbearable, Rennie escaped to movie theaters and found comfort in the creative stories that played out on the screen. Rennie ended up on the wrong side of the law and landed in prison but confinement did not stop Rennie's creativity. These difficult and challenging life experiences helped him discover his true passion: storytelling. He used his incarcerated time to create a theater group of fellow inmates and began his screenwriting career. That is when he began working on "The Undetected."
After he was released, Rennie fought to redeem himself as an upstanding citizen. He became involved with a conflict resolution program, the Alternative to Violence Project, and volunteered with them for ten years. He worked to support himself in whatever way he could, including cleaning up New York City streets with the Doe Fund. For the past eighteen years, Rennie has worked in legal records. After eight years of record keeping, Rennie decided that beyond just earning a living, he had to do more with his creative vision. That's when he produced his first short film "Tony and Angel," an urban story of love and sacrifice.
Then Rennie focused on the production of his first project, "The Undetected." At its core, "The Undetected" series is about uncovering multiple layers of mystery to find the hidden truth. Everybody wears a protective shield to guard against the dangers of the universe - real or perceived. Likewise, everyone has a multitude of layers to their history, their personality, their potential. However, one can only reach their true potential by being honest with themselves and others. It is this message, among others, that Rennie seeks to convey through "The Undetected".
Rennie and the Cali 2 NY Production team hope to screen this short film at festivals across the country and around the globe and take the project to the next level by adapting it to a one-hour drama series.
This man who had nothing, who rebuilt his life, followed his passions, and put everything he had into his creative work, dreams of sharing his stories of adventure, heartbreak and mystery with the world.
