Paramount+’s international ad-tier plans are coming together.
The streaming service’s Basic (with ads) tier will roll out in Canada in April and June in Australia, priced at C$6.99 ($5.15) and A$6.99 ($4.55) per month, respectively.
Addtionally, Paramount+’s premium subscription tier will launch in Europe this month, beginning with France, where it is priced at €10.99 per month.
It is already available in Australia, Brazil, Canada and Mexico, offering higher quality streams of shows such as Star Trek: Discovery, Tulsa King and A Gentleman in Moscow and access via four devices.

Paramount Names Australia/New Zealand Chief
Paramount Global has named Beverley McGarvey President of Network 10, Head of Streaming and Regional Lead for Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately. It also follows a local restructure that saw the departure of Executive VP, Chief Operating and Commercial Officer and Regional Lead Jarrod Villani. McGarvey, previously EVP, Chief Content Officer and Head of Paramount+ Anz, will now report to Pam Kaufman, President & CEO of International Markets, Global Consumer Products and Experiences. Kaufman said Australia was one of Paramount’s “most important, priority markets,” with McGarvey’s promotion reflecting that fact. McGarvey will have commercial and creative leadership of Paramount’s business in Australia, with oversight of Network 10 and its portfolio of brands, including streamer 10 Play. Paramount+’s plan for growth in Asia-Pacific is taking shape.
Replicating the global Formula 1 promotional deal the streamer struck with Formula 1 will be a key tentpole of the strategy in the region, according to Executive VP and International General Manager Marco Nobili.
He appeared via video link on stage at the Asia TV Forum & Market today to discuss how premium tier offerings and unusual pacts such as the Formula 1 agreement would drive business locally.
Following its launch in Korea and Japan earlier in recent months, Paramount+ is competing with local players and international rivals such as Prime Video and Netflix in Apac. Nobili said striking non-traditional deals would increase its market penetration.

Paramount, which is a rare Fortune 500 company with a majority of female board members, has been trying to make good on its promise to put a spotlight on gender equity by making it part of regular company life by providing ongoing initiatives and adding new opportunities for debate and networking for employees, as well as showcasing programming that highlights the topic of gender equity to its TV and streaming audiences.
The message to staff: gender equity must and will be a continuous focus rather than an issue getting attention only once a year, such as on March 8’s International Women’s Day.
“I could not be prouder of the work we are doing across Paramount to fight for equity with respect to gender and overall diversity to ensure that all our employees feel empowered at work to share their ideas and their perspectives,” Redstone tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Advancing the...

‘The Masked Singer.’
Network 10 is sticking to tried-and-true formats next year, its schedule and investment in local content unaffected by the pandemic-induced advertising downturn.
While all the new and returning shows unveiled today were commissioned before the Federal Government’s media reforms scrapped the local content sub-quotas, executives say that had no bearing on its strategy for 2021.
New to the slate next year are Making It Australia, an adaptation of the NBCUniversal format, a local version of the UK’s The Dog House and The First Inventors, a co-commission with Nitv. (See separate story).
The network continues to commission children’s dramas, with the second series of Jonathan M. Shiff Productions’ The Bureau of Magical Things, the Stephen Jaggi Company’s teen mystery drama Dive Club (a co-commission with Netflix) and a third show yet to be announced. All will premiere on 10 Shake.

As of next year, Network 10’s streaming platform 10 All Access will be rebranded Paramount+, as part of global revamp by parent company ViacomCBS.
The move comes as ViacomCBS looks to establish a cohesive SVOD brand across all international markets – one that will compete with the likes of Netflix, Amazon and Disney+.
The company also announced today three new original series to stream on the service in Australia. These include Lioness, a spy drama created by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan; hour-long Showtime drama First Ladies, starring and EP’d by Viola Davis, playing Michelle Obama, and 10-part limited series The Offer, based on producer Al Ruddy’s experiences of making The Godfather.
Sheridan will EP Lioness with Jill Wagner, David Glasser, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari. Based on a real CIA program, it will follow a young Marine recruited to befriend the daughter of a terrorist to bring the organization down from within.

ViacomCBS is restructuring down under after Paul Anderson, CEO of Network Ten and Evp, Australia and New Zealand resigned.
This comes only three months after Anderson, who oversees the network behind Survivor and The Bachelor in Australia, was handed an expanded role, and follows the departure of COO Annabelle Herd last week.
ViacomCBS will not seek a direct replacement for Anderson, who has been with the network for 17 years, but will introduce a new management structure for its combined operations in Australia and New Zealand, with co-leads for the business. These new positions will report to Maria Kyriacou, President of Vcni’s operations in Australia and the UK.
Anderson will stay on in the role in the interim to help the transition, while Henriette Rothschild, a partner at the advisory and investment firm KordaMentha, has been appointed interim Chief Transformation Officer.

For Australia’s commercial free-to-air networks, arguably the biggest threat to losing eyeballs is not each other but the seemingly inexorable rise of streaming services led by Netflix, Stan, Disney+ and Amazon.
However executives at the Seven, Nine and 10 Networks are confident their hefty investment in broad slates of unique Australian programming and their increasingly popular BVoD services will retain viewers.
“The 8.30 pm-9 pm drama audiences are certainly under attack from streaming competition,” Angus Ross, Seven’s director of network programming, tells If.
“We concentrate investment in news, sport, Home and Away and year-round 7.30 pm stripped programming – all uniquely Australian content that differentiates us from the offerings of the SVoD players. All programming is also available on our 7plus service, so viewers can watch at any time.”
