Stormy Daniels‘ ex-attorney, Michael Avenatti, says he would testify on behalf of former President Donald Trump. Avenatti said he’s been in contact with Trump’s legal team.
Avenatti is currently imprisoned on a 19-year sentence for extortion, tax evasion, fraud, embezzlement and various other criminal charges. Avenatti, who represented Stormy Daniels in her lawsuits against Trump, was found guilty of a financial crime against his former client.
“I’d be more than happy to testify,” Avenatti told The New York Post. “I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of the year.”
Avenatti’s new views on Trump are a significant turnaround from his previous position on Daniels’ legal team. In an op-ed for the New York Times in 2018, Avenatti called for Trump’s indictment. Now, the former attorney may oppose his...

Five years ago, Stormy Daniels found herself in the bizarre position of being one of the most ostensibly powerful, yet simultaneously vulnerable, women in America. The former porn star found herself in a nationwide tabloid maelstrom when it was reported that she had had a very brief sexual relationship with then-President Donald Trump in 2006, after the two had met at a golf-pro tournament in Lake Tahoe. (Daniels says it was one single encounter, and that it was consensual, albeit unpleasant.) It was later revealed that his attorney, Michael Cohen,...

Stormy Daniels cried and laughed during the SXSW world premiere of “Stormy,” a Peacock documentary about the porn star who made national headlines when it was revealed that Donald Trump’s lawyer Michael Cohen paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about her alleged affair with the former president.
“Fuck Trump,” Daniels said onstage following the March 8 screening.
Directed and produced by Sarah Gibson, “Stormy” delves into how Daniels navigated motherhood and her career while grappling with the aftermath of her alleged sexual relationship with Trump.
Judd Apatow, who executive produced the doc via his Apatow Productions, described the 110-minute film as both a “political documentary and a character study.”
“A lot of footage was being shot as everything was happening with Trump during his presidency,” Apatow said while introducing the film at Austin’s Stateside Theater. “You get a fly-on-the-wall view of what it was like for her as the story exploded,...

Stormy Daniels skipped the red carpet Friday but took the stage briefly after a screening of documentary Stormy, which had its SXSW premiere on the festival’s opening night. She was emotional, often wiping away tears, as she embraced director Sarah Gibson and talked about how important the film is to her. But she displayed her trademark defiance too, closing with a parting shot — “And f*ck Trump.”
“Thank you Sarah for doing this with me and telling such a great story,” she said. “As a filmmaker, your transitions were amazing. And you didn’t use too many shots that made me look fat. So thank you.”
Judd Apatow is an executive producer for the film, which premieres on Peacock later this month.

Peacock has released the first trailer for its Stormy Daniels documentary, which reveals plenty of never-before-seen footage showing Daniels’ roller-coaster life amid her legal sparring with Donald Trump.
“Every time I stood up I got kicked down even harder, and I hit rock bottom,” Daniels says in the trailer below, which includes Daniels reading a death threat on her phone. “I just wanted to stand up for myself. I won’t give up because I’m telling the truth.”
The footage also includes Daniels reacting in real time to discovering her celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti was stealing from her book proceeds. “Michael Avenatti betrayed me in every way,” she declares. “You’re in prison, bitch!”
The project, Stormy, is directed and produced by Emmy nominee Sarah Gibson (Orgasm Inc: The Story of OneTaste) and executive produced by Erin Lee Carr (Britney vs Spears), along with Judd Apatow, Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers.

Stormy Daniels is out of fucks to give and ready to discuss it all — Donald Trump, Michael Avenatti, the media, and much more — in the new trailer for Stormy, a documentary premiering March 18 on Peacock.
Directed by Sarah Gibson, the film will examine Daniels’ personal and public life as she aims to reinvent herself after five years of chaos. Daniels famously became a central figure in American politics after it came out that Donald Trump allegedly directed a hush money payment to her before the 2016 election to cover up an allegation of a past affair.

Attorney Michael Avenatti, once a cable news fixture for his commentary on Donald Trump, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for defrauding clients and for obstructing an IRS collection effort.
U.S. District Judge James V. Selna ordered that Avenatti’s term run consecutive to previous sentences of five years handed down in two New York federal cases.
Avenatti pleaded guilty earlier this year to four counts of wire fraud, stemming from allegations that he embezzled millions from those he represented. The IRS also claimed that he obstructed their efforts to collect more than 3 million in payroll taxes from Tully’s Coffee, the business he owned.
Avenatti also was ordered to pay almost 11 million in restitution to the former clients, as well as to the IRS.

Because no media story of the ’90s is complete without a streaming documentary about it, a docuseries examining a court case over an infamous Pepsi commercial is heading to Netflix. Four-part docuseries “Pepsi, Where’s My Jet?” will touch down onto the streamer November 17.
The series, which cheekily takes its name from stoner comedy “Dude, Where’s My Car?,” revolves around John Leonard, a college student who, in 1996, went on an ambitious quest to obtain 7 million “Pepsi Points,” a loyalty program that offered merchandise for customers who bought enough Pepsi cans. In a commercial for the program, Pepsi advertised that 7 million points (equivalent to about 4.3 million in Pepsi cases) could be redeemed for an Av-8 Harrier II jet.
The Coke competitor made it even easier via some fine print in the catalog that allowed one to buy Pepsi Points for just 10 cents apiece. In this case, 15 legitimate Pepsi Points plus a...

Michael Avenatti was sentenced to four years in prison Thursday after the disgraced celebrity lawyer was found guilty earlier this year of defrauding his former client, porn actress Stormy Daniels.
In February, Avenatti was convicted on federal charges of wire fraud and aggravated identity theft after funneling nearly 300,000 in book proceeds from Daniels’ memoir Full Disclosure into his own law firm.
District Judge Jesse Furman said Avenatti’s conduct was “brazen and egregious” and that he “took advantage of a vulnerable victim given her unorthodox career and somewhat unorthodox beliefs.

A federal judge has tossed attorney Michael Avenatti’s defamation lawsuit against Fox News over its coverage of his 2018 arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.
Avenatti, whose representation of Stormy Daniels made him a ubiquitous media presence as a pugnacious foe of President Donald Trump, was recently sentenced to 30 months in prison on charges that he plotted to extort Nike in a separate case. A trial was started last month on charges that he embezzled funds from clients, which he has denied.
In his opinion (read it here), U.S. Circuit Judge Stephanos Bibas wrote that in 2018, “Fox News covered his arrest. He sued, claiming that its reporting defamed him. But most of its statements were substantially true. And Avenatti does not plausibly plead that Fox or its employees knew that the statements were false or recklessly disregarded that possibility. He also fails to allege any recoverable damages.”

He also fails to allege any recoverable damages.”

One of my all-time favorite memes is a texting blunder that went moderately viral about midway through Trump’s presidency, in 2017 or 2018, when a young New York City woman got an outrageously filthy text from her apartment broker. Shortly after trying to arrange a meeting time, she received the following text: “I want to suck off Governor Cumo [sic] and his brother too — they can both shoot their loads all over my [expletive] face.” The sheepish sender immediately apologized, explaining the message had been intended for his best friend, but the damage had been done,...

Michael Avenatti was sentenced to 30 months in prison on Thursday after being found guilty in February 2020 of all three charges stemming from his Nike extortion trial.
Federal guidelines recommended a prison sentence of between nine and 11 years, while Avenatti argued for a six-month prison term followed by one year of home detention. The judge ultimately sentenced the disgraced celebrity lawyer to just two-and-a-half years in prison followed by three years of supervised release.

The original editors of Lifetime’s now-famous January 2019 docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly” walked out over creative disagreements on how best to portray sexual assault survivors, according to a bombshell report published Wednesday morning by The Hollywood Reporter.
Though these events took place in 2018 during post-production on the docuseries, the story recently came to light when Peggy Tachdjian, a TV editor who used to work at production company Bunim/Murray and witnessed the events take place, wrote an Instagram post in June in support of the editors along with an image that said, “Let’s talk about performative allyship.”
“In 2018 @bunimmurray was making a show called Surviving R. Kelly. I saw them take the step to hire 5 Poc editors for this project that we all knew would have deep impact for the African American community,” Tachdjian wrote.

This is Not what Sara Lee needs right before Thanksgiving.
On Saturday’s “SNL,” host Harry Styles played the food brand’s fictional Instagram manager in a sketch where he’s confronted by Sara Lee employees, played by members Cecily Strong and Bowen Yang, who are concerned about the activity they’ve seen on Sara Lee’s Ig.
Apparently, Style’s character Dylan has been “mixing up” the Sara Lee Instagram account and his personal Instagram account resulting in Sara Lee writing comments like “Wreck me daddy” and “Destroy me king” on a photo of Nick Jonas.
He’s also been captioning pictures of Sara Lee products with statements like, “Feeling really depressed after threesome. What was supposed to be a fantasy ended up more rejection. Must get rid of toxic in community,” and, “A little moody after being used. Why do guys freak out when I ask them to spit in mouth?...

Michael Avenatti found “nothing funny” about this weekend’s Saturday Night Live cold open that turned the House impeachment hearings into a soap opera — and included an appearance by Pete Davidson as the attorney.
In what appeared to be an imitation of President Trump’s Twitter style, Avenatti offered a sarcastic review panning the SNL sketch.
“Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC!” the embattled Trump foe jokingly tweeted Saturday night. “Question is, how does that total loser Pete Davidson save his dying mediocre career by playing me and get away with these total Democratic hit jobs without retribution? This is the real quid pro quo. Investigate!!!”

Saturday Night Live reimagined the impeachment inquiry into President Trump as a literal soap opera, not just a political one. Jon Hamm made a cameo in the dense cold-open sketch, playing William B. Taylor Jr., acting U.S. ambassador to Ukraine.
The segment opened with a voiceover that outlined the premise: Given that some news outlets criticized the impeachment hearings as “lacking in pizzazz,” why not add some theatricality to the headlines? (Nonetheless, the narrator noted, it’s still “the first soap where you can’t imagine any of the people in it having sex.

Given the propensity of the “SNL” writing staff to use the cold open sketch to lampoon the political happenings of the week, there was really just only one realistic choice for that treatment this week: Donald Trump’s congressional impeachment hearings. And boy was this one quite a doozy.
The sketch took the hearings and, uh, very loosely adapted them into a “Days of Our Lives” parody, dubbed “Days of Our Impeachment.” The opening title crawl for the parody declared that the show was doing this for the sake of those in the media who were dragged this week for having complained that the hearings “lacked pizzazz” or whatever.
The cold open brought out what felt like the entire “SNL” cast, with a bonus in the form of Jon Hamm making a surprise appearance as ambassador Bill Taylor.
