The Harry Potter films were absolutely magical and the cast members had a huge role in making them so. Every single character was so perfectly cast that it would often be difficult to know where the actor ends and where the character begins. However, Maggie Smith once revealed that she didn’t find her role as Minerva McGonagall, the Transfiguration professor, to be satisfying. She simply didn’t feel as if she was really acting in Harry Potter as well as the historical drama, Downton Abbey. Netflix co-ceo Reed Hastings is continuing his higher education philanthropy with a 20 million gift to Minerva University, a school focused on immersive virtual learning that has residential hubs in seven countries.
Hastings’ donation will support the university’s long-term growth and provide scholarships to students with financial need, according to a Thursday announcement, which noted that Hastings’ previous gifts to the school funded four-year scholarships for nearly 100 students.
Minerva admitted its first class in 2014 and received accreditation in 2021. Its undergraduate students spend their first year in San Francisco and then can study at its other locations: Seoul, Hyderabad, India, Berlin, Buenos Aires, London and Taipei. Classes are small, with fewer than 20 students in each seminar on the school’s virtual platform, and focus on practical knowledge. Five new movies that reveal the dangerous side of romance as part of the network's Love, Lies and Seduction movie slate with new films premiering every weekend beginning August 6 through August 27 at 8p/7c.
Aubree Bouche and Charlie Bewley kick off the exciting slate, starring in A Dangerous Affair on August 6, followed by Katie Reese, Victor Alfieri, and Gregg Weiner starring in The Art of Passion on August 7.
