We're off to Bermuda, and I couldn't be more excited! I had no idea it was so close to North Carolina and can't believe how easy it was to get there. I don't know who was more excited on the plane - Ricki or me. Having her travel with me during my time on The Bachelorette was such a blessing for us both, and I'm so happy I got to bring her along! My week of dates in Bermuda started off with Doug. I guess it's the "curse" of getting the first impression rose, but I felt awful because I...

When the “ladies” fight on The Bachelor, it’s all “You’re so fake!” and “She’s like a black widow!” and so on. Compare that to how the guys fight on The Bachelorette: Instead of histrionics, thinly-veiled contempt and tears, you get repressed, simmering rage that bubbles up into steely-gazed confrontations and juvenile mockery. It may not be as dramatic as what we rose lovers are used to, but it’s certainly a nice palate-cleanser before we sit down to a heaping serving of the foul-smelling gruel called Bachelor Pad later this summer. The clenched-jaw brigade was out...

Last week’s episode of The Bachelorette featured lots of shocking moments: Tony’s emotional breakdown over missing his son, Ryan’s ill-conceived declaration that he wouldn’t “love on” Emily as much if she gained weight after they were married, and Alessandro’s language-barrier-fueled admission that he views the idea of becoming a husband and a stepfather a “compromise.” But something even more jaw-dropping took place within the walls of the Potential Husband Plantation… Let’s hear Emily tell it (from her people.com blog):

On this week's episode of The Bachelorette, we're just jumping right in -- Chris was presented with the first one-on-one date card, and Emily wants him to work for his meal. The two of them are strapped into harnesses ("Emily looks great in a harness," says Christian Grey Chris) and climb their way up the side of the restaurant. Cheesy clichés about climbing and overcoming hurdles ensue (at this point, they're expected), and Chris is torn -- after a once-in-a-lifetime activity like that, he feels like he should kiss Emily, but he doesn't think it's the right time. He settles on a high five, and that's what you call a missed opportunity.
They finally have their dinner date on the roof and all is going well, until Chris tells Emily he's 25. Emily is thrown for a minute, quickly remembers how mature he acts, and then admits that she is falling for Chris.

The Bachelorette host Chris Harrison has revealed that Emily Maynard's kiss with Arie in last night's episode will continue to have consequences. Some of the other men spotted the couple kissing shortly after Alessandro had been sent home by Maynard. Writing in his blog for Entertainment Weekly, Harrison acknowledged that the incident "didn't seem like much" but promised that it "will be talked about later". "That moment where (more)...

This week's episode of The Bachelorette proved how easy it is for guys to stick their feet in their mouths. Between Alessandro calling Emily's daughter a "compromise" and Ryan telling Emily he wouldn't "love on her" if she got fat, host Chris Harrison says he's amazed at how dumb the men acted. Keep reading for more from our weekly chat.

The Bachelorette star Emily Maynard has claimed that Alessandro described himself as a "vampire detector". Alessandro left the show in last night's (May 28) episode after suggesting that caring for Maynard's daughter Ricki would be a "compromise". Writing in her blog for People, Maynard said: "Alessandro's comments definitely threw me for a loop, but that wasn't even the craziest thing he said. "What you all didn't get to see is that he thinks of himself as a 'Vampire Detector' and let me know that not only was there a vampire in the house, but he also had me join him in the woods, which explains my combat boots as I was walking him out." Maynard continued: "When he took me out to his special place in the woods, I saw that he had hung crosses from every limb on every (more)...

Hey, everyone! I can honestly say that this episode had some of my very favorite dates! I've lived in Charlotte for a long time, but I never in a million years imagined I'd be climbing the wall of a museum that Ricki and I go to often. Judging by Chris's face when the ropes came down the side of the building, I think he would've rather been at my house carrying in all my groceries like Ryan did last week! As scary as it was climbing up the side of the building, the fact that there was a huge...

Emily Maynard jumpstarted The Bachelorette with an adrenaline rush on Monday's episode. She and Chris scaled the wall of the restaurant where they would be having dinner for their one-on-one date.
Pics: Meet the Men of The Bachelorette
Fortunately for Emily, Chris was more than willing to take on the task by her side, as Emily grew increasingly shaky the higher they went. Emily admitted that she felt safe, having Chris close by. Although she's clearly attracted to Chris on physical level, Emily was alarmed to find out his age, 25, thinking that he might be too young to dedicate himself to raising a family. By the end of the night, Chris proved himself enough to score a rose and the first real kiss of the season.
Chris was excluded from the subsequent group date, which involved a mini inquisition with five of Emily's best friends. While most of the guys were sweating bullets, coming up with...

At long last, conflict! Okay, sure, we’ve only had to wait three episodes for a little drama on The Bachelorette this season, but that’s three weeks longer than it normally takes. The idiocy we witnessed tonight — Spoiler Alert if you have not yet watched the episode — was definitely worth the wait. It’s like some of the guys took anti-tact medication before going on the dates… though I’m guessing Alessandro is always as cluelessly blunt as he was at the cocktail party. Once you add in tonight’s two non-rose ceremony eliminations and Ryan’s emerging stalker tendencies,...

Tonight, Emily Maynard’s journey on The Bachelorette continues (ABC, 8 p.m. Et) with an episode that includes guest appearances by country singer Luke Bryan and Dolly Parton. Emily surprises race car driver Arie with a flight to Dollywood, which is open to just the two of them, and Parton surprises Maynard with a private concert debuting a song she penned for her. “So I got to dance while Dolly Parton is singing a song she wrote just for me. I mean, when did this become my life?” Maynard tells EW. ”One of my favorite moments of my whole life,...

As Emily Maynard gets to know the men trying to win her heart, she has the sad realization some of them are not happy she's a mom! Emily Maynard is a blonde southern bombshell, who you'd think have no trouble finding love. However, what she considers to be the love of her life -- her daughter, Ricki -- the men who are courting her on The Bachelorette think of as baggage. Talk about awkward! "I don't have a lot of experience with kids. You've got to teach me," Alessandro tells Emily, explaining that fathering Ricki, 6, would be a "compromise." "You see that as a compromise and not an honor?" Emily asks, indignantly. "Me having a daughter isn't a compromise and anybody I spend the rest of my life with is going to see that as the biggest bonus ever." Watch the clip below and tell us -- do you think...

Emily's motherhood was on full display this week. When she wasn't hugging a smiling Ricki, she was baking cookies, hanging out with soccer moms, or talking about kids.
She was also busy trying waaaaaay too hard with the Potential Future Husbands. Even as she kicked them off, she continued to lay on the compliments. Emily: they have to be there and hit on you. They are contractually obligated. Why are you embarrassing yourself and me, because I have to watch and be embarrassed on behalf of all women in the universe?
In more important news, Prettiest Potential Future Husband Michael wore his shiny flowing locks in no less than four hairstyles this week. He started the episode with it half up, like a princess. For more on his hairstyles and Emily's quest, ready on.

We've got some clips for you from next Monday's (May 28) episode of "The Bachelorette" - and the fur might be starting to fly at the Bachelor Plantation, plus a sneak peek at each of the dates.
On the Group Date, Emily has a bunch of her female friends who live in Charlotte there to meet the guys and give their impressions. Fine. But her one friend Wendy gets a little carried away (and kind of scary). Watch above as, instead of asking Sean serious questions about himself, she makes him take his shirt off and do push-ups. Um, rein it in a little, Wendy.
Below, there are a couple clips of the one-on-one dates - Arie goes to Dollywood and Chris scales a skyscraper in Charlotte. Both dates look relatively drama-free.
But then - at the Cocktail Party, first Alessandro puts his foot right in his mouth by calling having a kid a "compromise.

It’s numbingly odd, the ways in which Emily Maynard—who’s done this sort of thing before—naively treats The Bachelorette, as if this is some sort of courting that every ugly person gets to do, too. It’s a nice thought, for her to believe that these 25 guys are each attracted to her and would really like a piece of her heart, but that’s ignoring the real situation here, the one that Ryan stopped just short of blatantly screaming to Emily on the season’s first solo date: if you put 25 guys in one room to compete for a girl, it does not matter one single fuck who the girl is. At all. You could put 25 guys in one room and tell them to compete for a pile of dog shit and you’ve still got a battle on your hands. No one cares about the object...
