Li Na, the biggest tennis star to ever come out of Asia, announced on Friday that she would be retiring from the sport, effective immediately.
Li Na Announces Retirement
Throughout her tenure in tennis, Li Na has battled a number of knee injuries that have threatened to sideline her. The all-star athlete has persisted through the obstacles, but feels that at 32, maintaining a high-level of play while keeping herself healthy seems unrealistic.
“Most people in the tennis world know that my career has been marked by my troubled right knee,” Li Na wrote on Facebook. “The black brace I wear over it when I step on the court has become my tennis birth mark. And while the brace completes my tennis look, the knee problems have at times overtaken my life. After four knee surgeries and hundreds of shots injected into my knee weekly to alleviate swelling and pain, my...

Get out of the way — Serena’s on a roll! After dominating her opponent in the semifinal on Sept. 6, the best player in women’s tennis is set to face off against the second best in a Us Open final for the ages.
There have been times in Serena Williams’ amazing career in which she actually looks scary on the tennis court because she’s that good. The 2013 Us Open has been one of those times. Serena continued to roll through the competition on Sept. 6 and now a matchup against Victoria Azarenka, the tournament’s No. 2 seed, is the only thing that stands between her and yet another major championship.
Serena Williams Dominates The Us Open
Serena defeated Li Na in the semifinals, 6-0, 6-3, and really didn’t face any sort of a challenge in the match until the end, when it took her seven tries to put away the match.

Time Magazine’s survey on the 100 most influential people in the world for the year 2013 includes Bollywood star Aamir Khan. The 100 most influential people have been categorized in different fields like Titans, Icons, Leaders, Artists and Pioneers, and the remarkable thing about Aamir on this list is that he has not been categorized under the Artists section for his Bollywood influence or popularity. Instead, he has been listed under the Pioneers category for his social activism with television show Satyamev Jayate. Evidently, his brilliant social initiative outweighed his Bollywood profile!
In an amazing profile, composer A.R Rahman writes about Aamir’s sense of social concerns, which not only show through Satyamev Jayate but have also been reflected through his choices in movies that deal with poverty and other social evils, like Lagaan. Talking about Satyamev Jayate, Rahman says that Aamir has the charm of presenting the bitter picture in...

Melbourne, Australia -- Victoria Azarenka plans to celebrate with her rap star friend Redfoo after a dramatic Australian Open.
Azarenka was joined by Party Rock Crew, as Redfoo's group is known, after the winning the title against Li Na on Saturday.
The Lmfao frontman known for his wild hair and wilder music has been a colorful addition to this year's Australian Open, where he was a regular fixture in Azarenka's front-row seats. During her final, his leopard-print jacket was visible from the upper decks.
"It's a dream come true," Redfoo told an Australian TV station, referring to Azarenka's win. "I came out here to support her, and I'm just so happy."
The interviewer seemed more interested in getting the pair to talk about their relationship, which made the 23-year-old Azarenka turn bright red.
In one attempt to change the subject, Redfoo said that he and Azarenka share a love for music.
