“Live coverage here, as it happens,” Fox News’ Martha MacCallum declared Thursday with an on-screen Breaking News alert. “We are now minutes away from Hunter Biden’s arraignment in a Los Angeles courtroom!”
Mere hours after Donald Trump received the judicial equivalent of a spanking in the courtroom at New York City fraud trial, Biden’s courtroom appearance on the other side of the country had Fnc in a lather.
In the federal courthouse in downtown LA, Biden entered a not-guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Mark C. Scarci. The hearing, Biden’s first appearance in the case, lasted about 30 minutes with Trump-appointed judge Scarci making sure Biden was aware a warrant for his arrest could be issued if he failed to comply with any conditions of release like drinking or having a gun.
“Do you understand?” the judge asked.
“I do, your honor,” Biden responded, with his attorneys by his side.

The Conservative Political Action Conference is taking place this week at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. Cpac is the year’s most biggest gathering of conservative thought leaders, serving as a kind of Coachella for misinformation, bigotry, religious zealotry, and veneration of a twice-impeached president who lost the 2020 election. The 2023 edition will feature speeches from likes of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, Donald Trump, and others, although big names like Ron DeSantis, Mike Pence, and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy are skipping the conference,...

The round-table show “The Five” has proven to be one of Fox News Channel’s most durable properties. And yet, after a decade on air, the late-afternoon program can still surprise even the most veteran executive at the Fox Corp. cable-news outlet.
“The Five,” which these days relies largely on a trio of regulars and two rotating guests, outmaneuvered primetime colleagues like Tucker Carlson and Sean Hannity to become the most-watched show on the network — and cable news — in October, according to data from Nielsen. “The Five,” led by Greg Gutfeld, Dana Perino and Jesse Watters, captured an average of nearly 3.11 million viewers during the month, compared to around 3.08 million for “Tucker Carlson Tonight” at 8 p.m. and nearly 2.74 million for “Hannity” at 9 p.m.
Carlson’s program continues to lead the network and the overall cable-news sector among viewers between the ages of 25 and 54, the demographic most coveted by advertisers in news programming.

Maria Bartiromo will be among the Fox News Channel personnel taking a crack at leading “Fox News Primetime,” the cable-news outlet’s new opinion hour at 7 p.m.

Maria Bartiromo, Brian Kilmeade and Trey Gowdy are among the list of rotating hosts who will anchor Fox News Primetime, set for its debut in the 7 Pm hour as part of a plan to fill the slot with opinion programming.

Congress will count the 2020 Electoral College votes on Wednesday to confirm President-elect Joe Biden’s presidential victory in a joint session beginning at 1 p.m. Et/10 a.m. Pt in the House of Representatives.
The final (and usually pro-forma) step in the Potus certification process, today’s count is expected to verify the votes electors cast back in December that gave Biden a 306-232 win in the Electoral College, a month after Biden won the popular vote in the general election. The margin of victory is the same in which now-President Donald Trump declared victory in 2016.

In normal times, the certification by Congress of electoral votes for president would be, at best, a nominal news event. But these aren’t normal times.
On Wednesday, Congress is expected to complete the final step in making Joe Biden’s election official. But with some Republican lawmakers signaling that they will bow to public pressure from President Donald Trump to upend the electoral-college certification — a process rarely infused with drama and described by the Constitution as a fairly routine counting exercise — television-news is gearing up for event coverage.
MSNBC will kick off its coverage at 9 a.m. Et with Stephanie Ruhle on “MSNBC Live”; Hallie Jackson will then take over as anchor for two hours of special coverage from Washington, D.C., beginning at 10 a.m. Et. At noon Et, coverage will be taken over by Chuck Todd and Andrea Mitchell in Washington, D.C., and Katy Tur in New York.

Fox News puts Joe Biden’s electoral vote count at 264, six short of victory, raising the possibility that the network will be the first to call the presidency for the Democratic nominee.
The past 24 hours have been a whirlwind of snazzy red and blue electoral maps, deep dives into voting data and weary TV anchors going on little sleep. And there have been standout moments, one of which is the drama surrounding Fox News’ call of Arizona for Biden, a call that the Associated Press also made but not yet any of its rivals. Coverage shifted a bit on Wednesday to potential Donald Trump campaign legal challenges, the latest of which is a lawsuit filed to stop the vote count in Georgia.

With broadcast and cable networks carrying his speech live, President Donald Trump referred to the Russia investigation as “bullsh*t” as he held a victory lap “celebration” of his impeachment acquittal, telling supporters gathered in the East Room of the White House that he was the victim of a “witch hunt.”

President Trump has reacted to outrage over the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation editing him out of “Home Alone 2.”
“The movie will never be the same! (just kidding),” Trump tweeted on Thursday.
His response came hours after the CBC responded to the backlash by pointing out his single-line cameo was edited out of the movie when the corporation acquired the rights to it in 2014.

“As is often the case with feature films adapted for television, ‘Home Alone 2’ was edited for time. The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot,” a CBC spokesperson told TheWrap. “These edits were done in 2014 when we first acquired the film and before Mr. Trump was elected President.”

A Fox News panel reacted Thursday to viewers’ reports that Donald Trump’s cameo was cut from a Canadian broadcast of the 1992 holiday movie “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” calling the editing “censorship” and a symptom of “derangement.”
The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said that Trump’s single line in the movie was edited for time, not politics, but on “Fox & Friends” Thursday, pundit Mark Steyn disagreed with the CBC.
“I think they’re actually terrified that people will remember that before he was the new Hitler, he was a beloved mainstream cultural figure,” he said. “That’s who Donald Trump was before he was the new Hitler. I think they’re terrified of these little things that will remind people just how deranged his opponents are.”

Co-host Ed Henry also used that language, accusing the CBC of “Trump Derangement Syndrome.

“Fox News has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle,” Fox News said in a statement this afternoon. Deadline has confirmed Guilfoyle, who has been with Fox News Channel since 2006, will not not appear on The Five today to say so long. Katie Pavlich is filling in tonight. Fox News’s statement followed confirmation of Guilfoyle’s exit from Donald Trump Jr. adviser Andrew Surabian, who tweeted this afternoon that she will be on the campaign trail with Don Junior, who she is dating, for Republicans in the fall. Surabian called it “a win for the entire Gop,” describing her as “one of the most influential voices in the #Maga movement” who “knows how to light up a crowd.” Last year it was reported that Potus was considering her to replace White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, but nothing came of it. Instead, Guilfoyle is signing on with America First Policies, which...

Kimberly Guilfoyle, who has worked as an on-air panelist on Fox News programs like “The Five” and “Outnumbered” since 2006, is no longer with the 21st Century Fox-owned network, according to a statement released Friday afternoon. She is widely expected to join the parade of Fox News personalities and executives who have gone to work for the Trump administration.
Guilfoyle, who has been linked romantically to Donald Trump Jr. in recent months, has long been said to have strong ties to the president. Fox News did not cite specific factors behind the parting of the ways. Previous reports in Vanity Fair and CNN suggested Guilfoyle, who was once married to Gavin Newsom, now lieutenant governor of California, might now work with Trump supporters in the run-up to U.S. elections in 2018.

Fox News host Kimberly Guilfoyle will leave the network, a spokesperson for the channel confirmed to TheWrap on Friday.
“Fox News has parted ways with Kimberly Guilfoyle,” read a statement.
Guilfoyle, a popular co-host of “The Five,” is in an increasingly serious relationship with President Donald Trump’s son, Don Jr., which raised questions about whether she could cover politics for the network without the appearance of bias. When asked if she will be on “The Five” on Friday night, Fox News confirmed she will not be back on the program to say goodbye and Katie Pavlich will be filling in this evening.
The network would not comment on anything further regarding a potential full-time replacement.

Sean Spicer, President Donald Trump’s former press secretary who famously made his debut insisting his new boss’s inauguration crows “was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period” in the face of, you know, facts, is shooting a pilot for a “relaxed” talk show at which public figures join him in “lite conversation at a local pub or cafe.”
Spicer, famously played as a fulminating fussbudget by Melissa McCarthy on Saturday Night Live, would discuss “everything from media to marriage,” on the new talker from Debmar-Mercury, sources told Deadline.
While McCarthy may have snagged the Emmy Award at the 2017 trophy ceremony, Spicer won the opening monologue and demonstrated he had a sense of humor, with a surprise cameo in which he rolled out behind his podium to announce the 2017 Emmy Awards “will be the largest audience to witness an Emmys, period!”

Jason Chaffetz, Katie Pavlich, Brian Kilmeade and Pete Hegseth to Sub for Laura Ingraham on Fox News
Fox News Channel will use Laura Ingraham’s vacation this week to give more air time to four other staffers. Jason Chaffetz, Katie Pavlich, Brian Kilmeade and Pete Hegseth are expected to fill in for the host on “The Ingraham Angle,” according to the network.
They will also likely draw other kinds of viewership. A handful of advertisers ranging from Nestle to Ibm have said they’ve moved their advertising out of Ingraham’s 10 p.m. hour in the wake of an ongoing controversy spurred by a Twitter post she made mocking Parkland, Florida shooting survivor David Hogg. Ingraham has since apologized, but the teenager spurned her efforts, urging his social-media followers to pressure advertisers to abandon her program.
Ingraham told viewers during her Friday-night broadcast that she was taking a pre-planned vacation with her children.
The three contributors are likely to hew close to Fox News usual primetime efforts.

Fox News Contributor and TownHall.com Editor Katie Pavlich is under fire across social media for telling Bill O’Reilly that the concept of “white privilege” is “quite racist.” “You’re being prejudiced towards people based on the color of their skin,” Pavlich pushed back on the very idea via Tuesday’s “O’Reilly Factor.” “I reject this idea that only white people can be racist.” The clip really began to gain steam on Facebook and Twitter early on Thursday. Fox News Channel finally announced the replacement program with which it will fill the void left when Megyn Kelly moved to primetime — Outnumbered. It’s kind of like The View, in that it’s a panel of women taking on the day’s top news/pop culture headlines — only with an Fnc spin in that it’s got one rotating slot for a guy, who’s, you know, outnumbered. The announcement comes the same day The View announced it had talked all of its current and former co-hosts — including the ones who left under a cloud — to return to the show May 15 to say so-long to Babs Walters, who is retiring as show on-air Den Mom, though she’s continuing as show exec producer. Outnumbered debuts Monday, April 28 at 12 Pm Et; Fox Report Weekend anchor Harris Faulkner and Fox Business Network’s Sandra Smith are among the panelists named today.

CBS News investigative journalist Sharyl Attkisson resigned Monday after months of ill-concealed unhappiness with the network. It was the denouement of a drama that’s been played out among The Reporters Who Cover Television for some time, with Attkisson as the heroine. But while conservatives cast her as the gutsy reporter who stood up to her network’s liberal bias and its deep-sixing of her work on Benghazi and other Obama administration evasions and departs after acrimonious contract talks fell apart, liberals cast her as the mainstream investigative journalist who fell down the agenda-driven reporting rabbit hole. Fox News contributor Katie Pavlich Cc’d her network when she retweeted Attkisson’s “I have resigned from CBS,” while New York magazine headlined, “The Right’s Favorite Mainstream Benghazi Reporter Resigns From CBS.” Yeah, it went like that pretty much all day.
