Viaplay’s streaming service — specializing in award-winning Scandinavian series and films — is now available as an add-on subscription on Amazon’s Prime Video Channels in the United States.
Starting Wednesday, Prime members in the U.S. will be able to sign up for Viaplay for $5.99 per month (with a seven-day free trial available for eligible customers) through Prime Video Channels.
In February, Viaplay shut down its own app and direct-to-consumer streaming service in the U.S. and Canada, and the company has now focused its international distribution strategy in building growth via partnerships. Viaplay is already available in North America through partner platforms such as Comcast Xfinity, the Roku Channel and Xumo.
Viaplay said its U.S. content offering centers on “the Nordic region’s high-quality and psychologically penetrating series and films, from atmospheric and suspenseful crime dramas and provocative and stylish young-adult series to award-winning dramas and riveting documentaries.

Like many people, you might think you’ve seen everything when it comes to zombie movies. But there’s always somebody with a new idea, a fresh and original take on the horror genre. Films like One Cut of the Dead, Anna and the Apocalypse, and Train to Busan, have all added something new to the zombie movie, and this Norwegian production tries to do the same.
And Project Z is somewhat original. It takes things from various other movies to create something that is quite unique. To start with, this is a found footage movie, and there’s actually not a whole lot of found footage zombie movies. It doesn’t exactly play out like other films in that horror subgenre though, because it’s a movie about people making a movie.

That uneasy space between consciousness and unconsciousness has troubled humans for at least as long as we’ve been writing things down. it’s a liminal space, full of mysteries, which many traditions connect with other worlds – and where there are other worlds, there is the possibility of encountering their native inhabitants, who may not always be friendly. Kjersti Helen Rasmussen’s Nightmare is one in a long line of films to explore this idea, but it does so very cautiously, walking an uneasy line between supernatural possibilities and the psychotic.
Eili Harboe (whom some readers will remember from her outstanding supporting turn in Norwegian disaster movie The Wave) plays Mona, a young woman who has just moved into a new apartment with her partner Robby (Herman Tømmeraas). It’s one...

A young woman is tormented in her sleep in this crepuscular debut feature from Norwegian writer-director Kjersti Helen Rasmussen
If there is one place you would have thought a sleep-deprived person might be able to stop herself dropping off, it’s in a lecture about sleep. But that’s what this atmospheric but somewhat heavy-handed debut feature from Norway has its protagonist Mona (Eili Harboe) do as she is introduced by dishevelled academic Aksel (Dennis Storhøi) to the possibility that she has become the victim of the mythical incubus Mare. This may explain a recent run of freakish dreams in which she’s tormented by a vampiric doppelganger of her caring boyfriend Robby (Herman Tømmeraas).
Nightmare also belongs to the school of property horror already occupied by The Tenant and Mother! Left alone by Robby, a high-flyer preoccupied with some kind of algorithmic investment venture, Mona is charged with renovating...

After working as a screenwriter on horror and thriller projects like Varg Veum – Din til døden, Villmark 2, and The Tunnel, Kjersti Helen Rasmussen has now made her feature directorial debut with the Norwegian horror film Nightmare, which has landed international distribution through the Shudder and AMC+ streaming services. Nightmare will be available to watch on both of those services as of this Friday, September 29th – and with the release date so close, we thought we should share the trailer for the film. This post contains spoilers for "Succession" season 4, episode 7 "Tailgate Party."
The cracks in GoJo, the Ikea-fied tech machine buying Waystar RoyCo, are starting to show in episode 7 of "Succession" season 4, but is it enough to make the declining legacy behemoth more powerful than the spunky new streaming service in the modern media landscape? The newly minted co-CEOs seem to think so, but they are riding some pretty strong waves of grief and ego-maniacal delusion. GoJo might be in rough shape, as episode 7 reveals, but Waystar is still far worse off.
The first signs of trouble at GoJo started to show in episode 5 "Kill List" when the head executives at Waystar pay a visit to the streamer's cushy company retreat. The Musk-like CEO, Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård), confesses to Shiv Roy (Sarah Snook) that he has been sending bricks of his blood to his head of communications Ebba (Eili Harboe) following a messy breakup.

Spoilers for "Succession" follow.
"Succession" is about power structures. The show's drama is about the dynamics of both the Roy family and the Waystar Royco leadership team — Logan (Brian Cox) has traditionally remained on top of both, and those underneath him are always squabbling for bigger pieces of the leftover pie. On a macro level, the show is a depiction of the neo-Gilded Age that is the 21st century. "Succession" focuses on the global elite, but take a drink every time the camera lingers on anonymous service workers toiling in the background.
Since the series parallels real life, it sometimes uses real people as inspiration. The Roys are the Murdochs, for instance, owners of NewsCorp and the most powerful family in media since the Hearsts. Then there's Lukas Matsson (Alexanders Skarsgård), the owner of GoJo who's set to acquire Waystar. Some have suggested he's based on Daniel Ek, the CEO...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Succession” Season 4, Episode 7, “Tailgate Party.”]
Tick tick tick.
As “Succession” enters its final three episodes, time-bombs are everywhere. Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgärd) is a nuclear option unto himself. His uncontrollable antics could force or sink GoJo’s deal with Waystar, but there’s also his perilous ‘ship with Ebba (Eili Harboe) to worry about. She claims all those blood bricks Lukas sent her are the least of his worries, and maybe she’s right — though it’s kind of hard to forget about the blood bricks — since Lukas and Shiv (Sarah Snook) are considerably shaken once news about GoJo’s bullshit India numbers reaches Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin).
The smile on Kendall’s face says it all: He’s finally got the leverage he craves to make a serious play for power — one his dad would, in theory, be proud of, and one that allows him to push out his hangers-on sibs.

Like all truly great TV series, Succession is about a lot of things. It is about generational trauma, ambition, betrayal, self-destruction, family, and capitalism. It is also a show about male predation. While pretty much all of its characters are problematic in some way or another, the concept of specifically male toxicity is ever-present but seldom explored. From Roman Roy’s (Kieran Culkin) unsolicited “dick pic” last season, to the cruiseline rape and murder coverup that simmered in the background of the first three seasons, and Logan Roy’s (Brian Cox) affair with his much-younger secretary, Succession has indulged a relentlessly cynical view of sexuality, and of harmful male behaviour. In the character of Lukas Matsson, though, the series may have introduced a whole new type of toxic man.

This article contains spoilers for "Succession" season 4.
The fourth and final season of "Succession" has been the show's most seismic yet. With Logan Roy (Brian Cox) gone, his children — Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin), and Shiv (Sarah Snook) — and "Old Guard" senior staff are all trying to navigate the future of Waystar Royco. For most of them, that means completing the sale of the company to tech firm GoJo, headed by Lucas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård). However, business deals of this magnitude always come with casualties.
The latest episode, where the deal seemingly goes through after a shared Waystar & GoJo retreat in Norway, was titled "Kill List." Halfway through the episode, Greg (Nicholas Braun) namedrops this while confirming the existence of a kill list to Tom (Matthew Macfadyen). At the episode's end, the Waystar crew finally gets a look at the kill list and some of them are on it.

We don't have to wonder if Succession will be cancelled or renewed this time. It's already been announced that there won't be a fifth season. Still, in this age of TV show sequels, reboots, and reunions, could all or some of the members of the Roy family return someday? Stay tuned.

The first premiere of Succession was in 2018 at the NYC complex formerly known as the Time Warner Center. “A lot has happened in those five years. We’ve had a couple of corporate mergers, a global pandemic, a few Emmys,” said Casey Bloys, chairman-ceo of HBO and HBO Max Content at the premiere of the series fourth and final season.
HBO parent Warner Media was sold to AT&T in a deal that closed that year. The telecom giant then sold it to Discovery in 2022. HBO’s official trailer for Succession season four is full of plotting, backstabbing, and shifting loyalties. In other words, everything we’ve come to expect – and love – about the award-winning drama.
The trailer kicks off with Logan Roy insisting he’s accomplished so much that no one should question how he’s doing. That’s followed by Greg spying on Logan as he circles the trading floor, describing Logan’s actions to Tom on the phone as terrifyingly moseying. “It’s like if Santa Claus was a hitman,” says Greg.
The trailer also includes Kendall suggesting to his siblings that they need to fight Logan by partnering up with Sandi, Stewy, and Pierce – “death wrestling ogres.”
The final season stars Brian Cox as Logan Roy, Jeremy Strong as Kendall Roy, Sarah Snook as Siobhan Roy, Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy, and Alan Ruck as Connor Roy. Matthew Macfadyen plays Tom Wambsgans,...

Succession creator Jesse Armstrong revealed that the upcoming fourth season will be the show’s final run, according to an interview with the New Yorker.

Succession is heading to an end.
The hit HBO drama series will come to a conclusion with its fourth season.
Creator Jesse Armstrong broke the news in an interview with The New Yorker.
The series will return for season four on Sunday March 26. The season picks up when patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) betrayed his adult kids including Siobhan (Sarah Snook), Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Kendall (Jeremy Strong).
He said, “There are a few different aspects. One, we could have said it as soon as I sort of decided, almost when we were writing it, which I think would be weird and perverse. We could have said it at the end of the season. I quite like that idea, creatively, because then the audience is just able to enjoy everything as it comes, without trying to figure things out, or perceiving things in a certain way once they know it’s the final season.

HBO Chief Content Officer Casey Bloys is not opposed to a possible ‘Succession’ spinoff, but argues that it “doesn’t seem like a natural thing.”
“I always say ‘never say never.’ When we started talking about doing a ‘Thrones’ prequel that was something that HBO had historically never done. I had some people internally saying, ‘This is crazy. What are you doing?’ That said, I think that there’s something about the universe that George created that lent itself to [spin-offs],” Bloys told Variety in an interview published Wednesday. “There’s a huge history, a lot of different families, a lot of different wars and battles. Following her stint in Berlinale Series’ competition with “The Architect,” a Norwegian Viaplay limited series set in the near future, Kerren Lumer-Klabbers will focus on a feature film next, which has the working title of “School of Women.”
The project, produced by Søs Thøstesen, will be inspired by her own life, admits the filmmaker. Or rather, the lives of her two mothers.
“They met thanks to the Women’s Liberation Movement in Denmark. One of my mothers grew up in a conservative family, where a woman was supposed to be seen, not heard. The word ‘lesbian’ wasn’t even a part of the vocabulary. She spent her whole life trying to liberate herself from that upbringing,” she said.
Lumer-Klabbers has been busy interviewing women who were a part of the Movement. Including her mothers.
“I told them they can’t say anything wrong and that it’s not about ‘entertaining’ me.

The Succession audience has been patiently waiting for news about when the Roy family drama will return, following the explosive season three finale that had everyone talking.
Now, HBO has revealed the return date for season 4 to be March 26, and the new teaser trailer (below) reveals the potential consequences ahead following the shocking betrayal that culminated in the Emmy-winning season’s final moments.
For a refresher: The late 2021 finale ended with a gesture between Logan Roy (Brian Cox) and his son-in-law Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) that signaled Tom had betrayed wife Shiv (Sarah Snook) and her siblings Kendall (Jeremy Strong) and Roman (Kieran Culkin). When Logan placed his hand on Tom’s shoulder, it was revealed to the audience that the pair had secretly collaborated amid the three Roy children seeking to halt the purchase of the family’s company, Waystar Royco, from tech billionaire Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård). Exactly two months from now, all your dreams will come true. Assuming, of course, that your primary dream in life is to finally see the fallout of the devastating season 3 finale of "Succession." Beyond the united front that is Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Siobhan (Sarah Snook), and Roman (Kieran Culkin), what more could you possibly need? Thankfully, the news from HBO is that the wait is very nearly over. "Succession" is coming back with 10 new episodes of dysfunctional family drama starting Sunday, March 26.
Just over a year ago, the three Roy siblings — sans first pancake Connor (Alan Ruck) — made the very risky move to double-cross their father Logan (Brian Cox) in a desperate attempt to stop him from selling Waystar Royco. The high of seeing them all work together was very quickly squashed by their epic failure, all the more devastating because it was orchestrated by Shiv's husband, Tom (Matthew Macfadyen). So what comes next?...

Once you cross Waystar Royco, there’s no coming back.
The latest teaser for “Succession” Season 4 shows the Roy children, played by Kieran Culkin, Jeremy Strong, Alan Ruck, and Sarah Snook, reckoning with their failed coup against the patriarch and Waystar Royco head, Logan Roy (Brian Cox).
As Tom (Matthew Macfadyen) and Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) continue with their own Logan-favored plan, the Roy family is torn apart at the seams. Shakespearian, much?
The first footage for the new season of the Emmy-winning HBO series showed Cox as Logan declaring that Waystar Royco is “killing the opposition” …or, in other words, his own children.

HBO has released the first international trailer for its quirky Norwegian sci-fi drama Beforeigners. The series, which comes out of HBO Europe and stars Blade Runner 2049’s Krista Kosonen and Aquitted’s Nicolai Cleve Broch, is to launch on August 21.
The drama, which will be available in the U.S. via the WarnerMedia-owned network’s digital platforms, was created by Anne Bjørnstad and Eilif Skodvin, the creative team behind Netflix’s Lilyhammer.
It follows a new phenomenon that starts happening all over the world. Powerful flashes of light occur in the ocean, and people from the past appear. They come from three separate time periods: The Stone Age, The Viking era and late 19th Century. No one understands how this is possible, and the people from the past, called ”beforeigners”, have no memory of what’s transpired. Only one thing is certain: they keep coming and there is no way back.

The 10 young European actors selected for this year’s Shooting Stars initiative are in town to meet the global film industry.
While young acting talent is spotlighted annually by initiatives such as Bafta’s Rising Star award and Screen International’s Stars of Tomorrow, European Film Promotion’s (Efp) Shooting Stars programme is the most visible celebration of next-generation thespian talent allied to an A-list film festival.
Each year, 10 young European actors are awarded the Shooting Star accolade at the Berlinale, a five-person jury having selected the winners from submissions by the 37 Efp member countries. The recipients travel to Berlin to meet producers, casting directors and other film industry figures, and are feted at a ceremony at the Berlinale Palast, which this year takes place on Monday February 19.

Thelma (Eili Harboe) is a woman who is attending college in the city, away from her country upbringing, and is discovering her individuality. However, she experiences a epileptic seizure that seems to plunge her deeper in social isolation. Anja (Kaya Wilkins), a girl...
