The trailer unveils a nuanced narrative centred around two young boys growing up in a traditional Indian village, deeply rooted in rural values emphasizing divine intervention and religious faith. However, as the story progresses, their beliefs collide with universal truths.
Beyond questioning faith and unwavering divine belief, Bhagwan Bharose explores the complex issue of communal tension that has always been relevant across the globe. Shiladitya Bora fearlessly but empathetically tackles the sensitive subject through the minds of two innocent kids.
Notably, the performances of child actors Satendra Soni and Sparsh Suman shine, as they impeccably depict the innocence with which young minds accept or reject the dictates of adults, leading to confusion in the face of conflicting adult messaging. Veteran actor Vinay Pathak also makes a captivating appearance.

With all fingers pointed at him and without evidence, all he has is the support of an eccentric retired investigative journalist. With a background in engineering and technology, Ajay Sarpeshkar will debut as a director with Mandala, the first film of a planned multi-film series.
The film stars veteran Indian actors Anant Nag and Prakash Belawadi as well as Sharmiela Mandre, Samyukta Hornad and Kiran Srinivas. After last year’s Hindi mythological superhero blockbuster Brahamastra, Mandala is another ambitious film riding the local superhero wave within the Indian cinema industry. Ajay said, “With this film, I wanted to kick start the under-explored sci-fi genre in the Indian film industry.

After it was pulled at the last minute from Berlinale 2021, Chhatrapal Ninawe’s debut feature “Ghaath” (“Ambush”) will finally show at the festival in 2023.
The Marathi-language film, a slow-burn thriller set on the fringes of India’s jungles occupied by Maoist rebels and revolves around the tense interplay between guerrillas, civilians and the police, will have its world premiere at the Berlinale’s Panorama strand.
The project, then co-produced by billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Jio Studios and independent producer Manish Mundra’s Drishyam Films, was selected for the work-in-progress lab at India’s Film Bazaar 2020 where it won the Lab Award.
“Ghaath” was selected as one of the Panorama titles in 2021, but was then pulled. In a social media post, which has since been deleted, Ninawe wrote:
“On Feb 4, 2021, Jio Studios sent a legal restraining order to Berlinale, effectively asking them to drop the film from the selection. We sent frantic emails.

Hollywood agency ICM Partners has come on board Rohena Gera’s festival favorite “Sir” and will represent it for sales in Anglophone markets U.S., U.K. and Australia, among other territories. The Hollywood agency will also serve as the film’s awards season lobbyist.
A delicately observed study of class differences in Indian society, “Sir” stars Tillotama Shome as a domestic live-in help with Vivek Gomber, a man from a wealthy family who seems to have it all, but is somewhat lost. As their worlds collide and the two individuals connect, the barriers between them seem only more insurmountable.
The cast also includes Divya Seth Shah, Geetanjali Kulkarni, Bhagyashree Pandit, Anupriya Goenka and Bachan Pachera.
“We have a very intimate yet hierarchical relationship with the people who work in our homes,” Gera said. “I wanted to explore that without being preachy, and a love story allowed me to do that.

Sumeet Vyas (Tvf’s Permanent Roommate fame), will be seen in an unexpected pregnancy turmoil with Kalki Koechlin in Rakhee Sandilya’s Ribbon. The film shows a young urban couple dealing with the ups and down in personal and professional life after an unexpected pregnancy.
When asked if his character is similar to Mikesh’s character from Permanent Roommate, as they both land in unexpected pregnancy, Sumit says, “My character in Ribbon is diagonally opposite from Mikesh in Permanent Roommates. He’s not Goofy, he’s not Naive like Mikesh, Karan is far closer to me in real life, and hence it was scary to portray his transition in the film, because I got scared I might turn into an unreasonable person if I came across such testing times. Comparing the two stories is saying all love stories are the same, every hero is Romeo and every heroine is Juliet.

In Bollywood screenplays are narrated, not read and I was in one such story pitching session at a studio when I spied on a list of names on the white board. The names were unknown but the surnames had a ring to them. Upon enquiring, I found out that they were children of famous actors who were in their teens and would be ready to be launched in a couple of years. The studio was maintaining a database of these young starlets and was hoping to be first in the race to sign them as soon as they got rid of their baby fat. That’s the day I made up my mind to never depend on this feudal system for my break.

Kamal Swaroop’s Om-Dar-Ba-Dar, an avant-garde film made in 1988, is all set to hit the theatres in India on January 17, for the first time in 25 years under PVR Director’s Rare label.
The National Film Development Corporation (Nfdc) digitally restored the film after which it was screened out of competition at Rome Film Festival last year.
Kamal Swaroop said, “I never thought it would see the light of the day. These are good times when with such new distribution channels, a film like this can also get a release alongside big budget Bollywood films. There was a lot of mystery around the film and that will now be over.”
The film is releasing on approximately 8-10 screens of PVR across four cities of Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.
Shiladitya Bora of PVR Director’s Rare said, “We are releasing Om-Dar-Ba-Dar because it is a unique cult film that everybody has...

Sundance nominated Indian documentary ‘Fire In The Blood’ now in its 3rd successful week at theatres
Due to overwhelming public response and strong critical acclaim, Sundance nominated, award-winning Indian film ‘Fire in the Blood’, directed by Dylan Mohan Gray is continuing for a third successful week at PVR Phoenix in Mumbai. The film is also opening in additional cities like Mangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai this week.
Narrated by Oscar winner and four-time nominee William Hurt, ‘Fire in the Blood’ tells the story of how Western pharmaceutical companies and governments aggressively blocked access to low-cost AIDS drugs in the years after 1996, directly resulting in no less than 10 million avoidable deaths in Africa and various other parts of the global south. The movie portrays the monumental change brought about by the small, unlikely group of people who decided to fight back against this deeply unjust blockade.
