It's prom season, which means that high schoolers across the country are working up the nerve to ask their perfect date to the big dance. But in today's online world, the pool of potential dance partners can extend much farther than the walls of a student's high school - and even into Hollywood. And thought she was flattered, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl seems doubtful she’ll be able to accept the date.
Kate told People magazine, "I want to, but I just don't know if I can make it work. But I really appreciated being asked; it made me feel really great!"
However, contrary to reports that she’s already turned Jake down, Upton’s rep told USA Today she’s "currently checking her schedule."

Because of course every time you get your hopes up about the world being a right and just and good place, something will certainly happen to crush your optimism. Every. Effing. Time.
You might have changed your opinion on chesty cover girl Kate Upton after learning that she'd totally be willing to go to prom with a complete peasant--that peasant being high schooler Jake Davidson, who made a viral video asking the bombshell model to be his date to prom--but it's okay now, you can go back to being an atheist and hating everything. Because after accepting his offer (on The Today Show, live, in front of the entire world, as if that wasn't enough), she now tells People.com that she's busy. You read that right. She's busy:
"I'm not sure if I'll be able to go with him or not, due to my schedule," she says. "I want to,...

Jake Davidson, the 17-year-old who asked supermodel Kate Upton to his prom, had no problem talking to Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on Today about his adorable YouTube video. But then, Sports Illustrated’s two-time swimsuit issue covergirl dialed in, and well, he acted like you or I would.
Watch the exchange below.
Is it adorable or awkward (or adorably awkward?) that Davidson clearly only likes Upton for her body love of sports? I ask; I can’t decide.
One thing that’s for sure: wrist corsages are not classy. Sorry, y’all.

With a prom invitation as charming as the one Los Angeles high school senior Jake Davidson made for Kate Upton, how could the Sports Illustrated model refuse? Only days after Davidson's video hit the web, Upton has responded on Twitter to the young Casanova.
"You can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I'll check my schedule ;)," Upton tweeted.
It remains to be seen if she follows through, but apparently just the acknowledgment of his plea was enough for Davidson. "You truly are incredible," he replied. "Just responding made my year, thanks so much! P.S. Hope your schedule is free!"
In his video, Davidson makes a strong case for why Upton should join him to prom. "You had me at hello. You are the yin to my yang," he woos her. "I'm Jewish, 5'9" on a really good day, and I can't dance.

One high school senior in Los Angeles, Cal. is shooting for the stars when it comes to his prom date. Jake Davidson has started an online campaign to get Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue cover girl Kate Upton to accompany him to the big dance.
Davidson uploaded a video that runs just under two minutes, showing him getting ready for prom. While explaining why the two would be a good match, he shaves, works out, showers, gets dressed, and even has a butler fetching things for him. Davidson notes that he has a strict 11 p.m. curfew, so he can't stay out all night with Kate, but believes they can still have fun.
The video ends with Davidson, and his butler, on top of a mountain with a bouquet of roses, officially asking Kate to prom. The video has already garnered over 20,000 views, and Davidson is using different social networking sites to get the word out.
