- Dale Hawerchuk was born on April 4, 1963 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He died on August 18, 2020 in Barrie, Ontario, Canada.
- The 16-year NHL veteran was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001. He was coach of the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2010-2019.
- He gave permission to a band of young rock musicians from Québec to use his name. The band is Les Dales Hawerchuk.
- He grew up in Oshawa, Ontario, and received his first pair of skates when he was 2 years old. As a peewee, he broke Guy Lafleur's record by scoring all eight goals in an 8-1 victory in the final of a tournament in Montreal.
- He played nine seasons in Winnipeg and five in Buffalo, along with stints in St. Louis and Philadelphia. He had 518 goals and 1,409 points in 1,188 regular-season games (with 30 more goals and 99 assists in 97 playoff games). He was the youngest player in NHL history to reach 100 points (a record broken by Sidney Crosby in 2006). He missed the playoffs just once (in 1988-89 with Winnipeg) during his NHL career.
