Rachel C. Léger loves the process of creation. She uses that love to help bring out the story in visual media with her music. She is known to help bring out the needed emotions in a scene.
Born and raised in Canada, Rachel always found different ways to explore her love of music. She learned a new instrument each year while in school, played in award winning concert and jazz bands, was a member of the New-Brunswick Youth Orchestra (with whom she toured in China and their CD won an ECMA for best classical recording of the year in 2008), participated in the National Artist Program and the at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, graduated from l'Université de Moncton, New-Brunswick, with specialization in piano and then pursued her dream by getting a Master's degree in Music Composition for the Screen from Columbia College Chicago.
She learned how to best combine her passion for music and her passion for film under the tutelage of Oscar and Grammy Award winner and former VP of Music Production at Disney Andy Hill and two time Emmy-Award winning composer/arranger Hummie Mann while doing her Master's degree. She was then able to further her knowledge of the craft by working on projects of the composers Laurent Eyquem, Mike Reagan and Mark Isham.
She has since worked on many short films, documentaries, commercials and PSAs, and was also the recipient of 2 SOCAN film composition awards and a top 5 finalist in the Music & Sound International in the music for short film Competition in 2014.
