- Tom Sparks was born on March 10, 1947 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA. He was an actor and writer, known for Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam (1985) and America's Dumbest Criminals (1996). He died on June 7, 2000 in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.
- Some jokes that made their way into the film, Dr. Otto and the Riddle of the Gloom Beam, were written into the script by Tom, as inside jokes for Sparks' only son, then a young teen.
- Primarily a successful advertising exec who managed award-winning campaigns across the country, notably the ones featuring Jim Varney as "Ernest". After 20 years in advertising where he'd risen through the ranks to Senior Vice-President, he dabbled in acting, quite a bit, in the latter years of his life. He began a slow decline aided by the bottle, and finally, the bullet. He was divorced from wife, Jan, and left behind an actor/writer son, Jason.
- Aww, quit fiddly-farting around!
