Even casual Bachelor and Bachelorette viewers know the show, which premiered back in 2002, brings the drama. And in a show packed with can’t-believe-it twists and turns throughout each season, it takes a special something to stand out above the rest — and these 11 do just that!
1. DeMario has a girlfriend: The Bachelorette, season 13
On this season of The Bachelorette, contestant DeMario Jackson’s ex-girlfriend, Lexi, surprised Jackson by joining a group date (that Jackson was currently on!) to tell Rachel she and Jackson were dating up until a few days before Jackson made his Bachelorette debut on last season’s After the Final Rose episode.

Whether it’s The Bachelor, The Bachelorette or Bachelor in Paradise, there is always one (or two) contestants that stand out during the season and become the “villain.”
It’s not necessarily a bad thing – the show would be boring without them – and it’s time to give them some recognition for their work.
Love them or hate them, they are all notorious in their own way. But were they there for “the wrong reasons?”
From the infamous Olivia to leading man Juan Pablo, let’s take a trip down memory lane and break it all down.
If we forgot your favorite, or you think someone else deserves to be #1, let us know in the comments.
1. Courtney Robertson (Ben Flajnik’s Season) Courtney literally wrote the book on how to be a Bachelor villain. Seriously, it’s called “I Didn’t’ Come Here to Make Friends: Confessions of a Reality Show Villain.

While there’s no doubt that over the years many of our favorite contestants on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette would probably agree with that phrase, there are quite a few that seem to have taken it a little too literally. They plotted, schemed, lied and betrayed — and made for some pretty amazing television in the process.

And we thought Brooks Forester dumping Desiree Hartsock was bad ...
How could we forget about all the other scandals that rocked the contestants, fans and Chris Harrison over the years on "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." From messy breakups to lying heartbreakers and press-hungry suitors, the ABC shows have had their fair share of drama.
This season of "The Bachelorette" has already served up large doses of tension, including Brooks' departure and Brian Jarosinski's secret girlfriend. And how could we forget about playboy Bentley Williams, who broke Ashley Hebert's heart during Season 7 after he admitted he was just not that into her.
And from Courtney Robertson to Tierra LiCausi, there have been some cocky, whiny, pompous women on "The Bachelor."

A week after rapping about being on The Bachelorette for "the right reasons," one suitor proved he was the opposite but genuine when his girlfriend showed up to confront him.
On Monday's episode, Brian's apparent girlfriend Stephanie came to the mansion to confront him for being on the show. (She says she just thought her boyfriend was merely going away on a trip.) Joining the ranks of Wes from Jillian's season, Justin from Ali's season and Bentley from Ashley's season, Brian showed he had ulterior motives and was ultimately dismissed for his dishonesty.

I don’t know, Brandon — if you have to say it, wethinks you doth protest too much. If you’ve watched tonight’s episode of The Bachelorette (and mild spoiler alert if you haven’t), you’ve also witnessed perhaps the franchise’s dumbest group date ever (a bunch of white guys — and Will — shoot a “rap video”), which prompted the aforementioned quote from the half-naked, banana-hammocked Brandon. Desiree showed some admirable gumption this week — first by insisting on driving her fancy car rather than letting the guys take the wheel, and later chiding a shy suitor: “Just kiss me already!

Check out these preview clips from next week's "Bachelorette" episode, which features two solo dates plus the Soulja Boy rap video.
Above, Bryden gets a one-on-one date that ends up in a hot tub, woo woo. He's so adorable and shy that Desiree actually says to him, "Just kiss me already." Whoa. Also, hee!
Below, Brooks and Desiree cruise around Los Angeles in her baby blue Bentley dressed like they just got married. Dez says it's supposed to be fun and it's nice that rolls with it, though we still think that's a little weird.
And finally, we have a sneak peek at the gang filming the "Right Reasons" rap video, complete with Desiree and Ben filming the faux-Wes part in full cowboy gear. The guys heckle him mercilessly, then it finally dawns on them that Dez might not like that. Um, duh. Grow up, fellas.

Did you enjoy "The Bachelorette" premiere Monday night on ABC? We thought most of the men seemed Ok -- except for Fantasy Suite Jonathan, of course.
We've got some details for you for next week's episode, which sees Desiree Hartsock go on her first two one-on-one dates, one with Brooks and one with Bryden -- with one of them happening complete with formal wedding attire, which ... Ok.
The official release from ABC says:
Brooks is ecstatic when he gets the first date of the season, complete with Desiree driving them through the streets of Los Angeles in her baby blue Bentley. Making their first stop at a bridal shop, Desiree tries on lavish wedding gowns while Brooks looks dapper in a number of tuxedos. That is just the beginning of the whimsical date, as the Bachelorette decides that they should remain dressed like the top of a wedding cake throughout the date.

ABC has released the details about the premiere episode of Desiree Hartsock's season of "The Bachelorette." There's a lot going on, but here are the highlights:
Desiree is made to feel like a princess, as she is welcomed to the Bachelorette manse and given both the keys to a Bentley and a silvery gown. One of the bachelors is a "sleight-of-hand artist". (Illusionist? Magician-American? What do they prefer to be called?)Over the course of the first meet 'n greet, an oil-rig worker gets totally nude and jumps in the pool. Because he's that guy. One bachelor offers to show Desiree his private "fantasy suite" and apparently her reaction shocks the house. Naughty. Later in the season, Desiree and her men travel to Atlantic City, Germany, Spain, the island of Madeira (off the coast of Portugal) and other exotic locales. There are performances by Andy Grammer, Soulja Boy, Kate Earl,...

First of all, I can't even begin to say how grateful and blessed I feel to be The Bachelorette. "The Bachelorette" returns to ABC in less than two short weeks and now we finally have some suitors to drool over. In the press release, ABC teases the first night by revealing some of the tricks the men use to make a memorable impression on Emily Maynard:
"Tony makes like Prince Charming and presents her with a glass slipper. Jef, a successful entrepreneur, springs onto the scene on a skateboard. Party Mc Stevie shows off his 'can't miss' dance moves. Travis offers a gift with a special meaning for Emily and her daughter. However Kalon is not to be outdone and lands in his private helicopter, much to the chagrin of the other men."

There was a time when I allowed myself to believe in the sincerity of shows like The Bachelor. Though exaggerated, the process occasionally worked, and the series satisfied my voyeuristic curiosity. I may not have liked the contestants, understood why they adhered to such unconventional romantic arrangements, or kept a straight face when they repeatedly mentioned "taking things to the next level," but part of me wanted to see it through. I suppose my naiveté paralleled the sentiments of those candidates, each of whom cast aside real life commitments for the chance of finding meaningful love... on TV.
Most people decry the ABC series for promising lasting relationships when an embarrassing few outlast production, but I'm more interested in the way the show depicts women in relationships. Though we’ve known sweet, Southern single mom Emily Maynard would be the next Bachelorette for a week, host Chris Harrison, who officially announced it on Good Morning America this morning, assures us it was only a done deal today. The producers have long been courting Maynard, he says. “We approached her. She was reluctant, and needed a lot of time to think about it, obviously, because there’s somebody else involved in her life, Ricki, her daughter. It was a huge decision. It wasn’t our usual approach to finding the Bachelorette,” he says. “We took it very slow.

Over the river and through woods, to grandmother's house Brittney Schreiner went after leaving The Bachelor on her own terms. On Monday's episode, the blonde "selflessly" declined an offer to go on a one-one-one date with Ben Flajnik because she "didn't have that spark that you look for when you start dating a guy."
Her grandma presented an astounding first impression on the season premiere and was "surprised" that things didn't work out between Brittney and the hunky winemaker. Regardless, she offered her granddaughter the "support" she needed to recover from the harrowing experience.
Leaving the show before the other girls encountered Shawntel Newton, Brittney sized-up the tense situation as a viewer. "I do think he has connections in the house with girls that are stronger than his connection with Shawntel," she told Et. "I think Kacie B. is such a sweetheart…down to earth and genuine. Before stealing Ben Flajnik away from a perturbed Elyse on Monday's episode of The Bachelor, Shawntel Newton was sister girlfriends with Emily Maynard during Brad Womack's second stint at the title. Though unconfirmed by ABC, rumors surfaced earlier this week that Emily would assume the role of The Bachelorette in the upcoming season.
Who better to comment on this speculation than a gal who lived in the mansion with her? Shawntel said that Emily appeals to viewers and is "a great person." However, she's worried that Emily would once again struggle with parting from her young daughter for an extended period of time for filming.
'The Bachelor''s Shawntel Newton: 'Brad Scares Easily'
There are also murmurs around cyberspace that villain Bentley Williams would be interested in pursuing Emily's affection. "That would be even more drama than me coming back for Ben," Shawntel laughed.

Emily Maynard, who got engaged to Brad Womack on the season finale of ABC's The Bachelor last year, is single again after that didn't work out ... and will star on The Bachelorette this summer!
"It's official, Emily Maynard is The Bachelorette," an insider close to the show says.
Maynard, whose fiancee passed away in a car crash seven years ago before she learned she was pregnant with his child, was coveted by producers since she broke it off with Brad, but was initially resistant.
Moreover, in order to accommodate the single mother of six-year-old daughter Ricki, "ABC is even going to move filming to Charlotte [N.C., Emily's hometown]. It won't be in Los Angeles at all."
She even had fans convinced she wasn't interested, bluntly Tweeting "I don't want to be The Bachelorette" this summer. Somehow ABC made her change her mind, and the fan favorite will be handing out the roses.

Fool Emily Maynard once, shame on you. Fool her twice? Well, she may just come back with her own show.
The “winner” of Brad Womack’s season of The Bachelor is poised to be ABC’s next Bachelorette, sources at the show tell People.com. Womack and Maynard ended their engagement last summer — thus qualifying her for “bachelorette” status — and although she was reluctant to appear on the femme-fronted dating series because she didn’t want to be away from her daughter, the celeb site hears that ABC offered to move the production to her hometown of Charlotte, N.C.

Emily Maynard, the sweet, Southern single mom who Brad Womack proposed to his second time around on The Bachelor, will be the next Bachelorette, a source confirms to EW. ABC had no comment. People, which broke the news, says production on the show will reportedly move to Charlotte, N.C., so Maynard doesn’t have to be away from her daughter Ricki. Ricki’s father, Ricky Hendrick, was killed in a plane crash in 2004, right before the then 18-year-old Maynard learned she was pregnant.

No reality TV show can really call itself worthy of the name without at least one tear-streaked, red-faced, expletive-laden meltdown — the more out of left field, the better. And 2011 was chockablock with them, from Snooki on Jersey Shore to Taylor Armstrong on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, from Meat Loaf on Celebrity Apprentice to Maksim Chmerkovskiy on Dancing With the Stars. Let us count the ways:

Hold on to your hats Bachelor fans. The new season of Bachelor Pad starts tonight and it promises to be a doosey. An intriguing cast of characters including Michelle Money, Justin "Rated R" Rego and Erica Rose (yes, the tiara girl) pales in comparison to the news that both Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi will also be contestants. And the fact that they have not seen each other since that fateful Chris Harrison post break-up interview last summer, only gives it that much more train wreck potential. In a recent conference call interview, Jake talked about why he did the show, what he'd do with the money if he wins and who he thinks should be the next Bachelor.

Chris admits in his personal blog that he’s ‘very disappointed’ that Bentley turned down ‘The Men Tell All’ — but Bentley can still do a sit-down with Chris alone!
Bentley Williams was a no show to The Bachelorette: The Men Tell All special on July 31. He “declined” to confront Ashley Hebert and the other men from her season. Was he afraid of facing some intense Bentley bashing, even though he deserves it after he crushed Ashley’s heart by leading her on and at the same time talking smack about her behind her back? Host Chis Harrison is very upset that Bentley chose not to participate — but in his personal Entertainment Weekly blog, Chris begs Bentley to do a one-on-one interview with him.
“I was very disappointed Bentley didn’t show up for the taping,” Chris writes. “As I mentioned we extended an invitation to him, but he opted not to come.

Ashley reportedly had sex with Ben Flajnik right before accepting J.P. Rosenbaum’s proposal. Is she really as in love as she claims she is? Ashley Hebert has been a hot old mess this season on The Bachelorette, and if the latest rumor is true, she has no one to blame but herself. A new report claims that the 24-year-old dental assistant slept with Ben Flajnik — the man she didn’t choose — the night before her new fiance, J.P. Rosenbaum, popped the question! Although she swears she’s in love with J.P., is it really possible for her to be?
The new couple couldn’t seem to keep their hands off one one another onscreen during The Men Tell All special Aug. 1 or during their interviews on Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live! but the reality of their situation is much different that it appears.

The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert and Jp Rosenbaum have said that the drama surrounding Bentley Williams is in the past. The newly-engaged couple told reporters on a recent press call that they had moved on from Williams and had no desire to confront him about his actions on the show. Hebert said: "It was so long ago and I have Jp. I forgave [Bentley] a while back. I have no interest in talking to him or seeing him. I am so far removed from all of that. I wish him well and hopefully he wishes the same for me." Rosenbaum added: "I think he made his bed and now he can lie in it; he showed who he was. The worst part of it was watching Ashley see it for the first time and being hurt for it and all the people judging her based on what they saw and not being able to defend her.

She had to endure months of tears, lies and betrayals on The Bachelorette, but after getting engaged in glorious, romantic fashion to J.P. Rosenbaum, Ashley Hebert says she wouldn't have it any other way. "I've never even looked back for a second on my decision," Hebert tells People in the latest cover story. In fact, Hebert, 26, credits Rosenbaum, who proposed to her in Fiji on the ABC show's Aug. 1 finale, with helping her recover from her ill-fated romance with two-timing contestant Bentley Williams. She also says her relationship with the 34-year-old New York construction manager didn't truly begin until the cameras went away.

Its been quite a ride, hasn't it? Lets give ourselves a hand. This has been an almost unbearable season of The Bachelorette. I've been a rabid fan for years, but this season was the first time I felt my temper sizzle every time the camera panned out on another lush location. Bentley and the way ABC handled him are responsible for a large part of that. But the reality is, Ashley was a Terrible Bachelorette.
Don't get me wrong: She looks the part, she's adorable, she's bubbly, she wears kicky midriff T-shirts, whatever. But her specific type-a personality does not gel with reality TV. She's an overachiever (see: dental school, abs) who's rampantly insecure, and those aren't the traits of an enthralling reality heroine.... More >>...

“This is the first chapter of the greatest love story ever told.” Behold the words that the “winning” suitor used to solidify his relationship with our tragically insecure heroine Ashley on Monday’s season finale of The Bachelorette.
Of course, the path to “true love” on ABC’s reality dating franchise is never a smooth one, and so before Jp heeded the wisdom of Beyoncé and put a ring on it, we had to endure Ashley taking a sensual mudbath, Ashley’s tattooed sister Chrystie stirring up our Bachelorette’s darkest fears like a fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt, and bewildered winemaker Ben...

The season finale has come and gone. Ashley is happy with Jp, Chris Harrison is still utterly cool and Groban is probably sitting in a dinghy with a lone cameraman on the outskirts of Fiji wondering how it all went wrong. It's been a tough season of 'The Bachelorette,' but we prevailed thanks to the following top five things that got us through this season:
1. Drinking games
Anyone who decided to take a shot when Ashley mentioned "Bentley," "amazing" or "journey" will probably be sloshed until next Monday when they start a new drinking game during 'Bachelor Pad.'

Spanning two days and five hours of television, this is the biggest, most dramatic blog ever. I hope you enjoyed the way ABC programmed the Men Tell All on Sunday and rolled right into Monday’s dramatic season finale, which led us right into After the Final Rose. ABC Ashley Hebert from “The Bachelorette.”
It’s down to the two final contenders on “The Bachelorette” – Jp and Ben. We still like Ames. We vote for Ames for the next Bachelor!
It’s been a weird season, hasn’t it? Mostly we wanted to smack the producers for coming up with the dumbest challenges of all time. Let’s all get together and say nasty things about a girl you barely know! Let’s make fun of her body!

It's all come down to this. After an eventful, much-debated and often teary season (one word: Bentley), The Bachelorette's Ashley Hebert will make a choice between her final two suitors on Monday night's season finale. "I'm so happy, so in love," she recently told People. "I found a great man." And while online rumors abound over which of the final two guys she picks, fans seem divided into Team J.P. and Team Ben.

For an episode subtitled “The Men Tell All,” Sunday night’s installment of The Bachelorette — the fetid (un)appetizer to tonight’s season finale — contained precious little in the way of scintillating intel. We discovered that Ashley suffered a toe cramp while practicing Tai Chi with Ryan in Taiwan (probably because her pants were so tight, she lost circulation to her extremities). We learned that our heroine likes to slather her face with Vaseline right before bedtime. (“You don’t wanna sleep next to me: That’s all I’m saying!” Ashley grinned, continuing her reign of unwitting romantic self-sabotage.
