We were all hoping that the London production of Lillian Hellman's The Children's Hour would mark Keira Knightley's Broadway debut (she got great reviews in 2011 starring opposite Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss), but we'll take her however we can get her. Next fall, she will make her Broadway debut in Roundabout Theatre Company's adaptation of the tragic novel Thérèse Raquin, continuing with Knightley's affinity for period dramas. In other news, Big Brother standout Frankie J. Grande (the bro of another famous Grande, Ariana) will take on a supporting role in Rock of Ages for two months beginning Nov.

Sometimes being a Diva in WWE must feel like you’ve got the odds stacked against you from the outset. WWE have never really gotten behind the division in a serious way, and it seems there’s only ever so far a woman can go within the company. On top of that, this treatment of the women’s division has trained a vocal section of the audience to feel like women’s wrestling “doesn’t matter” so that even when it is great, they don’t bother watching.
WWE is quick to celebrate their successful women wrestlers when it suits them, but when Trish Stratus and Lita say their biggest career accomplishment is that they main evented Raw once then it’s obvious there’s a disparity.
You only need to look to the independents to see how great women wrestling can be, with wrestlers like Candice LeRae...

Kimber Lee’s Idaho-set drama, “different words for the same thing,” has a dozen intertwining characters of varying ages, which makes finding appropriate actors a challenge. Having lost longtime casting director Erika Sellin last summer, Ctg was juggling 20 shows across three theaters with a four-person casting office before Neel Keller brought in film casting director Heidi Levitt as a consultant. “Casting is usually done strictly in-house,” Keller, an associate artistic director at Ctg, told Backstage. “We’ve always had a full-time casting staff, but occasionally we’ve brought someone like Heidi or Joanne DeNaut [casting director at South Coast Repertory] in to help.” The challenge with Lee’s play, Keller explained, is that “every single [casting] decision you make has ripples. As soon as you settle on one person, it sets more specificity for the...
