UKTV’s network Drama has entered the original production game.
The channel’s first original scripted series will be Outrageous, a six-part show from BBC Studios-owned Firebird Pictures, written by Sarah Williams.
The series will look at the famous British socialite sisters the Mitfords, whose antics in the 1930s made their family one of the most well known in the UK, and what drove them in various directions and to very different end points. Several infamously support fascism and the Nazis, though two became staunch opponents of the ideology. Two became well known authors.
Cast and crew will be announced over the coming months, with production kicking off next summer.
According to UK, Outrageous will “bring the full, uncensored story of the Mitford sisters to the screen for the first time – a story of family betrayals, public scandal, political extremism, personal heartache and even imprisonment.

Discovery, Inc. and BBC Studios have struck a “multi-million pound global content partnership,” the companies said on Monday, which will bring BBC’s “Planet Earth,” “Blue Planet,” “Life,” “Dynasties” and other natural-history titles to Discovery’s Svod platforms.
The 10-year deal, which should close in late spring, relies on Discovery launching a new global streaming service for natural history programming by 2020 that will operate outside the U.K., Ireland and China.
In addition to the hundreds of hours of already existing content, Discovery and BBC Studios will develop new landmark factual content together. The two companies will co-fund a dedicated development team within BBC Studios.

BBC Studios and Sky have joined forces to add a raft of catalogue comedy and drama from the pubcaster to the Sky platform and its Now TV streaming service.
The deal kicks in next month and includes dramas “McMafia” and “Spooks” and classic BBC comedies “The Vicar of Dibley” and “Only Fools and Horses.”
The lineup will expand over the coming year, Sky said. The shows will be made available under the UKTV channel brands Alibi and Gold on Sky and Now TV.

Are you ready for Doctor Who Lego? We hope so, because it’s coming soon…
Exciting news for Whovians, this – the big-wigs of both the BBC and Lego have come to an agreement to begin producing Doctor Who Lego sets. The idea was approved after 10,000 votes came in for fan Andrew Clark’s proposal on the Lego Ideas website.
Now, it’s become a reality.
While Mr Clark’s initial idea featured a wide range of Doctors, the new Lego/BBC alliance are being coy about which eras, Doctors and companions they will be recreating in brick form. At least one whopping great Tardis set is surely fairly certain, though, as is a Peter Capaldi-themed set (judging by the image they sent us). To clarify - that is just rampant speculation on our part.
